At least most of the Mormon guys don't look like they are wearing clothes from a thrift shop. Witnesses always look so geeky in their 'formal' attire.y

Remember this picture?
by Zoos ini went to a small non-denominational church yesterday - first time in a church since i left the borg 4 years ago - and this is how i observed several of the members singing.. .
boy... do those people love to sing.. .
i try not to judge the sincerity of others but i was a little put off by the experience because it looked fake, showy display-ish.

If you are looking for a church for 'thinking' people, without a lot of strict rules and dogma, try a Unutarian-Universalist church. Not showy at all. And every week there is a different topic, not endless repitition like in the JWs. Plus you won't be pressured to believe anything or 'join' like in the Witnesses.

How many here (believers) believe in the Hell fire doctrine and why??
by jam init's obvious the bible is very clear on a actual hell of fire.
"cursed into the eternal fire with the devil and his angels", rev.20:15.
"lake of fire", rev.21:8 "fire and brimstone".

Oh please!!!! Are you serious??? It's all so ludicrous! What about the billions of Hindus, Buddhists, gay people, divorced people, etc. Do you seriously believe they are going to 'Hell' to be tortured forever????? If so, 'God' is a total homicidal maniac!

THE GRAND APOSTATE "WALKOUT" - January 1, 2015
by RagingBull inafter knowing ttatt for many years now...i had made up my mind long ago that after 2014, i would no-longer subject myself to the boredom, pain, and frustration of following this cult...the wt...the borg.. so...i made up my mind that since the wtbts/gb makes such a big deal as to the "significance" of the year 1914 and this year 2014, there can be no greater time for me to leave it all behind.
i daydreamed of how awesome and telling it would be if everyone that could ( because i do know that some have personal circumstances of their own, as i did too) would just .... walkout...never to attend/step foot in a kingdom hall from that moment on.. independence day of sorts?
there is too much evidence, too many videos, blogs, books, news reports and lawsuits for me to keep lying to myself.

Why not just leave now?? The 1914/2014 dates are complete bullshit anyway. Why buy into it any longer??

The basic answer is: There is no God, no Satan, no Adam & Eve, no Noah, no Snake, etc etc. We are all just here for a brief time span and then we are gone forever. And that's all, Folks!!!

What would you say to a...
by confusedandalone inbuddhist / hindu / rastafarian / pagan etc... if they came to you and said in my homeland we have our own gods who is completely different from yours and most of his teachings are contradictory or atleast different from yours.
do you thyink that my gods from my homeland that were worshipped for thousands of years are fake?.

My approach would be to ask the Hindu, Buddhist, etc : 'So please tell me more about your religion, your culture and your beliefs. And illustrate for me the ways your beliefs assist you with living a worthwhile, authentic life'. Then I'd thank them for the information, share a cup of tea with them, wish them well, and, thus educated, be on my way.

I can guarantee that the 'special' talk will be yet another repitition of the same boring drivel we've heard for decades. A real snoozefest. And virtually no 'visitors' from the surrounding community. If any did show up, they would be totally bored and turned off. My recommendation is to skip the talk and go out to a nice restaurant for a 'special' tasty meal that night.

What's your take on UNITARIAN UNIVERSALISTS?
by Black Man innot looking for another religion as i'm completely atheist at this point, but the uu's do seem to have a community spirit about them and don't seem to be so cultish.
i lived across from one of their churches (before my recent move) and went to one of their services.
it didn't have the rigidity of the dubs, and seemed to be somewhat open minded.

I have attended my local Unitarian fellowship several times. They welcome you regardless of your belief system. You can even be an atheist or pagan and that is OK. There is no religious dogma that you must adhere to. They have a wide variety of speakers. Very open-minded. The exact opposite of the Witnesses. You won't be 'recruited' to join, either. I highly recommend giving them a try.

BLOOD MOON and
by NAVYTOWN inhad anyone heard any jws talk about the fact that a blood moon lunar eclipse is going to happen on the night of the memorial?
i can't imagine that at least some witnesses aren't saying this event is a biblical 'sign' that amageddon is getting very close.
there will be four blood moons between now and fall 2015.....a very rare celestial happening.
