"They Told Me That If I Left..."
by Ingenuous in" these people say, "they had told me over and over, even from the early days after i first started coming ... they told me how spiritually dangerous it was to leave.
they say things like, "it is you who are shunning us!
god would have to leave the believer -- and that will never happen, for the bible says: .

My mom went to the Norwood Congregation (Cincinnati) in the early 70's. We also went to the Hamilton East Congregation from 1976-1981. Then we moved to sunny Florida.

2005 District Assemblies?
by lovinglife indoes anyone know when they will annouce where the 2005 district assemblies, i mean conventions will be?
my sister and i were talking yesterday and we were surprised that they hadn't posted anything on there website and i hadn't seen anything on here either...reason being she makes up her son's visitation schedule for the summertime with his father and wanted to make it so that he wasn't there for that week when there convention is...hehehehe...she's does that for the past 2 years.
she said it seemed kinda late that they hadn't announced anything...we were kidding around and hoping, "hey, maybe there out going to have them anymore; just more circuit assemblies instead.

Whether you go or not, it's your decision and I won't hold it against you.
Blondie,
Oh I'm definitely not going...haven't since I was a teenager...I just wanted the schedule for my sister so her son doesn't get dragged to one by her ex...she's trying to keep him from as many meetings and such as possible without any arguments. She makes up her son's summer schedule and has to pick which weeks he's at the ex's and which he's at home. She's been lucky the past couple of years by knowing ahead of time when and where the conventions are (she's a fader) from me so I wanted to give her the heads up again but they haven't posted them at the website. They are in the state of Delaware so I believe they go to conventions in Philly or Baltimore...I think where there's A/C...
If you can give me those dates and areas I'd really appreciate it! Thanks, and by the way I enjoy your Sunday Watchtower comments.
Happy Easter!!! K.B.

My Book of Bible Stories
by Taylor S. ini just got my hands on a copy of my book of bible stories ... (1978).
at first i was excited when a friend pulled it out of his bag, said he'd gotten it as a kid.
then i started flipping through, looking at the pictures, feeling the memories spin in my brain.

My mother gave me a copy of the Bible Stories book for my first daughter. I didn't think much of it at the time (thought it was innocent enough) but re-reading it over again and the pictures just made me really think, do I really want my child exposed to this? Its just a bible story book. Or was this my mother taking an opportunity to "plant a seed" and witness to my child? In the end I threw the book away...

3rd generation JW...raised a witness, never baptised...my parents divorced (father was an unbeliever) when I was 15 and I moved in with him and never went back. I remember the day I threw away all my JW literature which I considered a pretty big deal. It has taken many years to get past that feelings of guilt and being "bad" for not being a witness. My mother is still a devout witness; my sister has been fading for many years now but our mother persists in causing problems, marking and shunning her. Talk about "causing divisions" among the family. This past year we have both worked on putting all the nastiness of this religion and the past behind us and to start living for the present and future. (without the guilt)

Doctor who in the US
by avishai ini watched this show religiously as a kid on pbs.
loved it, it was a great escape from my messed up life.
talking about it in jr. high and high school helped earn me affectionate nicknames like "nerd, spaz, dork, faggot, etc.

Loved Doctor Who! A sister in my old congregation turned me to reading the books first and then they finally started airing the show on PBS on Saturday nights late (with Tom Baker). I haven't seen it in years. I wonder how many doctor's there up to now? I wish they'd put it on the Sci-Fi Channel...good memories.

Yes...we had what we called a "Surprise Day" about once a year with presents and her baking our favorite treats and a special dinner. We wouldn't know about it until coming home from school.

Good show! I hope they make it a series too. There were alot of storylines unfinished. Finally something good to watch thats not a "reality" show. Just as good as Steven Spielberg's "Taken" series.
