Watching horror movies, hypnotism or seances on TV (even fictional) "invites demons into your home".
Why don't demons just walk through the door?!

My sister pooed in a busy public swimming pool once (she was a little baby - we got taken swimming as soon as we were vaccinated etc) - the doctor told mum it was impossible for babies to poo in the water when she first asked if it was OK to take us - they had to evacuate the pool as scoop it out.
Mum alleges that when I was a toddler I brought a poo downstairs wrapped in toilet paper to show my dad.
I used to eat dirt out of the garden when I was first walking.
Edit: Mum came downstairs just now - apparently the poo-carrying thing was my sister too!! What a relief. The eating garden dirt is still me though. :D -

SIlver Ring Thing in the UK - doomed to failure
by Abaddon ini've seen coverage of this band of celibates before.
they're one of the groups spearheading abstinance-based sex 'education' in the usa.. despite not one shred of proof that it works in reducing teen pregnancy or std infection rates, this is the flavour of the month under the bush administration.. in tv coverage i heard one of the councillers telling teenagers that condoms could not prevent the transmission of virus particles.
if the abstinance-based idea is such a good thing, i wonder why they have to misinform people?.

I saw something on the news last week about silver-ring groups coming to the UK and the report showed one of their lessons in the USA - it was stated it was the only sex education programme available in the school they featured (perhaps the case in many others, I don't know).
By all means tell kids to wait, and tell them about the difficulties they could well face by having sex too young - but for crying out loud, still hand out condoms at the end of the lesson to the kids and teach them how to use them and where to go for advice if they *do* decide to break their vow of abstinence before marriage! -

Did Being a JW Make You a Bully VICTIM in SCHOOL?
by Smoldering Wick ini read this article in the montreal gazette that talked about a young witness kid being bullied in school.
it made me think back to all the times i was treated differently in school for being a jehovah's witness.
i grew up in a predominately mexican community and went to public school there from 1st-12th grade as a jw.

Well once I was bullied for a year by a boy in my congregation - he wasn't really a JW anymore by then but his mum was and he knew I was. He didn't make fun of my religion much, but that was the basis of it really. He used to play dolls with my little sister (I was friends with his older sister) like 3 years before this! I'm sure he's not a bad person now, but it was rough for me back then - he got moved classes but of course his friends were still in mine, but it mostly sorted it out.
A girl who was new to the primary school I went to and was trying to steal my friend away from me bullied me (to make me look weak I suppose so my friend would be friends with her) and she made fun of my religion just the same as she made fun of me for other things - she got kicked out of the school in the end.
One girl (who was a wimp and everyone hated) hounded me all the way up the hill from school once asking why I wasn't allowed to "go to the doctor's" - which of course I told her was ridiculous and she'd got it wrong but she just carried on until one of my friends punched her in the head! :)
I'm sure a teacher was mean to me once but I can't remember the details.
I don't think being a JW was the cause, it was just personality conflicts, but not being able to fight back cos of JW rules definitely made it worse - I certainly could've flattened the girls and at least scared the boy enough to leave me alone.
While I don't think kids should be forced to conform and I don't think the victim should get blamed, but in some cases kids who are bullied leave school and go to another school and are still bullied there - they have to have something about them that makes them a target or unpopular and for their own safety they ought to be helped to become less of a target. -

1) Were raised in "the truth?" From age 3.
2) Did you get baptized and at what age? Nope.
3) What age were you when you faded, were DF'd or DA'd? Started to fade at age 17 almost without realising at first - out totally at age 21. -

I'm really looking forward to seeing this, I've liked (mostly) Michael Moore since TV Nation was on the BBC about 10 years ago.
The "scandal" of connections with the Bushes and the Bin Ladens never really shocked me, they're both wealthy families and businesspeople and I always read in articles from various sources that Osama Bin Laden was an outcast from his family.
I heard a reason for the R was also footage of beheadings of prisoners in Saudi Arabia - is this in or cut (no pun intended!)? I hope it really lays into the Saudi government about extremism and terrorist links. -

No extension or tool, I just write HTML directly into the text box when I post.
Aside from the first three sections which only refer to creating webpages from scratch, this cheatsheet will be handy for formatting without the tools available for the forum in IE. :) -

Yeah, Firefox is miles better than IE.
I add HTML formatting as I'm writing so I don't have to worry about layout and I don't miss the formatting tools. -

I use Firefox 0.8 - I sometimes have problems on this site and others when hitting "back", it'll go "cannot find /" or "cannot find index.html" etc. A bit of a pain. Does 0.9 fix this issue? Will I have to reinstall the extensions?
Would be nice to have smilies etc working under non-IE browsers - or at least a list of the URLs for them so they can be added manually.
