Does anyone else think it's odd JWs wear those - you'd think people would just ask each other their names and congregation! It's obviously not a good deterrent to naughty apostates!

Israeli army does it again!
by Waymores Ghost inthis really irks me.
everytime i read that the israelis kill some suspected militant leader along with a child who happened to be riding in the car with him.
i always thought that israel, who like to think of themselves as "god's" people, should be taking the high road.

There is usually scant coverage of indiscriminate actions by Israelis.
In the UK this isn't so. Fortunately our media is showing the suffering of the Palestinians as well as the suffering of the Israelis. This week we've seen people scavenging though the rubble of their homes for *anything* - because of the vile collective punishment. The Palestinians don't have tanks and helicopter gunships - they only have bombs and their bodies to carry them.

The funniest comment I ever gave at the KH....
by logansrun init was the written review and i knew all the answers (what person with half a brain didn't -- or couldn't "figure it out" at his/her seat?).
but, i was also the literature servant and had to get that month's request done before the meeting was over.
so, right after song and prayer i went into the elders room and compiled the request (there were always brothers doing some work in there.

Angharad - that was sooooo sweet!
Only thing I remember was an elder whispered an answer in my ear (I was about 4) and I either couldn't hear it, or it was too hard to pronounce, so I *made something up* that was *wildly* incorrect. But I can't remember enough about it for it to be a funny story... :? -

BREAKING NEWS FROM GOVERNING BODY
by wannaexit inrecently the local congregation had the visit of the c.o.
the local needs talk he usually gives was replaced by a talk he said will be given to many congregations around the world.. this talk is targeting th very young.
kids are being strongly encouraged not to put off baptism and that children as young as 10 can make an informed decision to get baptized.

How long on average does it take a person with no experience of JWs to go from that first knock on the door to being baptised?
Say it's two years, well the GB could "reasonably" say that a child with the "advantage" of being born into the borg would be ready two years from being able to read and understand well enough to begin taking in the information and comment at meetings beyond saying "Jehovah!". Many JW kids seem to read from being very young (the only advantage I can think of that JW kids have), so they'd be "ready" by eight, no problem.
They could also say that if the parents are baptised when they're born they will be raised as a dub anyway, and *may aswell* get dipped as babies. -

Will the bully be punished?
by Schizm inthe following two reports are about a 13-year-old jw boy who finally struck back at the one who bullied him for 2 years.
you will notice that neither report says anything at all about any sort of punishment being meted out to the bully.
the victim is to be punished while the real villain got off scot-free ... without even a slap on the wrist.

I told the headmaster he ought to be ashamed of himself. I don't really expect a reply, but I'll post it if he does.
The Superintendant of Schools for Clayton County is Barbara Pulliam: [email protected]
So I would assume that (genius) Linda Tanner's email is: [email protected], however the site lists a Linda Crummy as being in charge of the group of schools that Daryl's falls into, so the address for her from the site is: [email protected]
This site has more information about the "punishment" involved for the bully: http://zerointelligence.net/archives/000128.php.
Zero Tolerance is stupid as in this case the wrong child was subject to it, and also because not every case is the same so you can't just legislate like that.
Last year on fark.com myself and many other users emailed the staff of a school and the adminstrators of the school district to defend a teenage boy who was suspended and dragged into court for the enormous crime of.... wait for it... letting his girlfriend use his inhaler when she was having an asthma attack!

First gay couples wed in US state

first gay couples wed in us state
two lesbians were among the first same-sex couples to wed under a new law in the us state of massachusetts.

Fantastic news!
I can't get my head around why people think this is wrong - the "god made Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve" type arguments against gay marriage don't stand up; not being able to marry hasn't stopped same-sex couples from loving each other and staying together in committed relationships, so what difference does it make if people are allowed to marry now? -

What Is The Root Of All Evil
by Elmer J. Fudd inmoney?,,,,,,, no, religion!

I've just emailed the headmaster of the school expressing my incredulity that he and his staff failed to such an extent that this happened in the first place.
The email address given on the school's site is: [email protected] -

But Tanner also said students who are being attacked by bullies are only allowed to restrain their attacker or ask for help from a teacher.
"Students cannot fight back," Tanner said. "Violence is not the answer to bullying."
Oh for crying out loud - someone ought to subject her to the sort of abuse this poor lad's gone through and see how easy she finds it not to defend herself; telling a teacher obviously did *loads* of good in this case.
This is the fault of the bully, the bully's family for raising him to behave appallingly and the school for doing nothing about it.
I'm not in generally in favour of bullied kids changing schools as a) it disrupts their schoolwork (especially if topics are done in a different order, etc) and b) bullied kids are bullied for a reason (easy target), the problem will just start up again; but it's gone so far in this case I hope he gets a place at another school where no-one knows him or what's happened.
