I was a hermit and misfit BEFORE I became a JW, while I WAS a JW, and now that I am on the brink of leaving, I still AM a hermit and misfit. Maybe that's why I was attracted to the 'Truth' in the first place.

The Watchtower Society Doesn't Care About Anything

society doesn't care about how outsiders view them.
they don't care about how the rank and file look at them.they don't give any credence to congregational elders or ministerial servants or pioneers.

Hi Pleasuredome,
Sorru for late post,
I am just amazed that I was so gullible for so long. I always prided myself on being bright and thought I had checked things out - obviously not. I feel a bit empty too - so let down. I don't really know what to do cos I have too many questions and they just go round and round in my head - sleep is pretty hard to come by lately

I used to say "My dog ate my homework." I know it doesn't make any sense whatsoever, but I've been using that excuse for just about everything ever since I started school, and now it just rolls off the tongue!

I agree - they can't care.
How could they expect to keep the UN membership thing a secret? We were bound to find out eventually - I only found out last week and I was gobsmacked! How did I not know? Does the WTBTS care that some are now finding out? I think that they think that we are all too brainwashed by now to care and will go along with them anyway. Well, they are wrong!
They seem to have their own little book of rules and regulations and, no matter how much you point out that their rules don't make sense, they don't seem to care an awful lot. in fact, they then imply that you are the one with the problem - very strange!

Thanks for your thoughts LyinEyes and Vivamus,
In fairness, most of the bros and sis were very supportive and loving. The elders tried to understand but they had to appear to be strong I suppose. It was one elder in particular that really got me - he thought I was some sort of freak cos I couldn't get it together for so long (he still thinks I am a freak). I really long to see her and hold her and, at least with a resurrection hope, there is that possibility. Without the 'Truth', what hope is there for dead loved ones? Will we ever be with them again? I can't believe something so beautiful can just go and never come back. That is the one doubt I have in my mind about leaving the JWs - the fact that they seem to have the correct teaching as to what happens when we die - I don't want to risk losing the chance of seeing her again.

Well, my dining room table could do with propping up - one leg seems too short. Maybe the 'Knowledge' book would do. Also, I could do with a couple of door-stops - the bound volumes would do a treat. Come to think of it, I am running low on loo-roll - how many watchtowers do you have?

When my daughter died, I was made to feel as if I had no faith because I felt I couldn't go on. I used to feel ashamed cos all I just wanted to do was roll up in a ball and scream. I felt I shouldn't show any emotion because that showed a lack of faith in the resurrection. I remember one elder saying that it was showing my other children that I was weak to 'carry on in such a way' - I was only grieving and my children knew that - they weren't stupid. I just felt as if my world had ended (still do sometimes) but they didn't understand - I was told I should just have been grateful for the fact that I would see her one day - but I want to see her now and they don't realise how much it hurts. I sometimes think some elders have ice running through their veins.

Brummie,
Check out www.insight.com
They are very good and have a huge range.
Personally, I don't think you can beat Sony but they are very expensive compared to others.
One thing with laptops - you can't upgrade them the same way you can a good old PC so I prefer my PC. Anyone know of a laptop that is easily upgradeable?

JW's deny jesus as being king before 1914
by heathen ini ventured to the local hall here last week and when time to discuss the watchtower a guy made a comment that the wt only believes that jesus became king in 1914.now i have read the bible and do have an interest in what it says despite my handle on this site and i have noticed that the apostles made clear that christ was king of heaven and earth in their day at least until the last apostle died .this just looks like typical crap that would only lead me to further arguement with them and in the end being demonized .anyone else with thoughts on the subject ?

Well the scripture in 1 Cor 15:25 definitely says that Jesus must rule as king until God has put all enemies under his feet. That means he is ruling when the world is still full of his enemies - like now. Also, death is called the last enemy, so he must be ruling even until death is put out of the way, I am not sure if I have got this right - but I know I was told that, when Jesus begins his kingdom rule, it will result in blessings and peace for mankind. How can that be if he rules amongst his enemies? Plus, we still have the extra 100 years tagged onto his reign if it started in 1914 - whether he is ruling over the heavens only or both the heavens and earth, he is still ruling.
Another thing, if 144,000 are to rule for 1000 years as kings and priests, aren't the ones resurrected in 1914 going to rule for longer than the ones who are still on the earth today as the anointed remnant? That means, some reign for 1000 years, some for 900 or whatever - very confusing!

So if Jesus rules amongst his enemies, he isn't ruling in a beautiful, paradisaic kingdom, at least not at the beginning. But I am sure I have been taught that when he reigns, death will be done away with and sickness will be a thing of the past. How can it be a time of peace if he is ruling amongst his enemies? I am really confused now. There is so much going on in my head that I have kept in for years and now it is all a bit jumbled.
