this has happened far too many times now for it to just be happenstance.
over the last year or so i've had at least 10 guys try to "pick me up" while i am out walking.
if it only happened at night it would be one thing but, it's happened early in the morning as well.

It sounds very interesting.
But do they have the one towel rule at assemblies ?

the wts teaches its members to have "no part" of certain places and practices, under pain of disfellowshiping and shunning.
things like attending a church service, taking blood, etc .
the wts claims that such is "bible based" and that since there 'logically' are bible precedents for all their prohibitions, then the r&f must keep well away.
Later something interesting happened - he bowed before the god Rimmon with the king. He asked for forgiveness to Elisha and was told, "Go in peace".
I'll get out my CD when I get home and get the society's comments on this but If I recall, Naaman's bowing down to the god Rimmon should be viewed as being part of an organization but, at the same time, not a part of it. I think the example given was being a NGO with the UN.
Apparently, Naaman wanted to learn more and wanted easier access to some of the holy scrolls to do research. His bowing down to the god Rimmon facilitated access to the scrolls. Plus, I believe the article mentioned it then would have been unlikely that Naaman would have had to leave a deposit if he borrowed the scrolls over the weekend.

just wondering why you choose not to use too many identifying facts about yourself on the boards?
is it to protect yourself, or others?.
for me, i have nothing to lose where the dubs are concerned, and initially my profile was pretty extensive.
Personally, I'm in sort of a Twilight Zone also. It can be frustrating at times, but I still can interact with everyone I have known for years.
I guess at some point in the future I will totally come out into the open but I prefer to be very selective and build a trust with anyone who wants to get to know me personally.
As Simon said above, you can come under real attack if you are still in any way "in" the organization yet question the beliefs.

maybe, but i figure 1/11th of $30 million is worth it!.
i just bought (along with a few others from work) my first lottery ticket.
the only problem is, if we win, our pics and names get published, and if a dub sees it, then it's curtains for yours truly.. i'm maybe the only person in this area's lottery history who is ambivalent about winning $2.72 million.. but i think i could adjust!
The only problem is, if we win, our pics and names get published,
That should not be an issue. Just get a post office box in another area and use that as your address. Newspapers typically only publish pictures if it is a local person. I doubt that your name with a far-away city address would be suspicious to anyone.
Let us know when you win.

yep, you heard me right - i'm going back to the kingdom hall.
my reason for going back is a very simple one.
recently, after i evicted the book study from my mother's home, some of the jw's came to pick up the chairs.
The contribution box at the book study thing has been going on for a number of -years, at least for the last 10 years or so.
We were even encouraged NOT to put contributions in the one at the KH, rather, to use the one at the book study.
In this way, the conductor could keep track of the monthly amount donated by his group. When the amount was low, we always
received "encouragement" to give more, especially towards the end of the month.
Just more control folks.

when i was growing up i was told that as jesus' followers, we should return evil for evil to no one.
it occurred to me today that even though that was what the jws preached, in reality a much different lesson was taught.
often when i did something that was wrong, i got paddled.
Beating is so unimaginative. Boiling their stuffed animals accomplishes the same thing
Czar ... good point.
You could also stick a piece of meat inside the the animal and microwave it.
Tell the child that he or she can't take it out untill it smells done.

i am perplexed why the benefit of the doubt can not be given in many cases.
say for instance you have a poster that from their threads is obvioulsy hurting, depressed or in need.
why can't others understand that maybe that person will push the envelope, the boundaries.
I think you accidently had the Italics button turned on.

today, october 6, in manchester tennessee the court considered the motion to dismiss petitioned by the watchtower bible and tract society in the case of anderson vs watchtower.
during the hearing for the first time ever the watchtower attorneys were stumped, at a loss for words, silence in the courtroom for what seemed like a 'millennium'.
stumped...............silent....................
During the hearing for the first time ever the Watchtower attorneys were stumped,
Maybe the judge asked the attorney how to calculate the "seven times" leading up to 1914 and the attorney forgot that there is no zero year.
