Yep. (kisses self) I may come off as a wimp and thread killer on this forum; however, those who know me (or think they do) know that I am comfortable in my own skin and many have told me that they wish that they could be as bold as I am. I don't back down much and don't really "give a fart" what people think about me. The only reason I hold back from saying certain things is because not only do I LIKE myself, I LOVE my family and it takes tons of energy for me not to speak out and jeopardize my relationship with them. By the way...there are many on this forum who I suspect thatI know personally. Will be interesting when I eventually find out "for real"... Love you all!!!!

Do you really LIKE yourself?
by Tatiana inas it's a new year, and most of us made resolutions, i'd like to know what about yourself you would truly change if you could?
if you had one wish and it meant you could magically alter something of yourself, what would it be?.
what quality about yourself do you wish would go away?

"Weak People Become Jehovah's Witnesses"
by minimus insomebody recently expressed that point of view to me.
do you agree with that??
?

I wasn't weak BUT I was young (17), "raised in the truth" and just following what seemed to be the natural progression of things by getting baptized.

Were you happy as a witness?
by JH inthe few years that i was an active witness, i can't say that i was very happy.
i really didn't mind missing a meeting.
i always felt that a meeting every 2 days for the rest of my life was a little exaggerated.

Had to be. They told me I was.

I hate it "know-what-I'm-sayin'" when every other word "know-what-I'm sayin'" starts with "know-what-I'm sayin'". Do you know what I'm sayin'?

Expressing My Thanks For Simon's Board.
by Guest 77 ini 've been on this board for some time now, and i would like to express my thanks to simon for putting up with plenty of diversified personalties.
also, many thanks to all the moderators.. what the coming year has in store for this forum, well, only time will tell.
hopefully, as it has been going of late, it will 'mature' to another level.

I'll third that motion. I lurk a lot but don't post much. All along, I thought I was the only one who felt a "certain way". This board nearly saved my life....Really.

Are the witnesses tight?
by stillajwexelder inare jehovah?s witnesses tight?
a presiding overseer stated that from the platform in the last 18 months.
there was a thread recently where one poster stated that at district conventions pioneers actually gave literature as a tip to the waitress at a place where they were dining -- no doubt counting their time also.

It's been said that they're so tight that they can squeeze a nickel until a booger comes out of Jefferson's nose.
So tight that they go to conventions with the ten commandments and a ten dollar bill and break neither one.
All jokes aside, I've seen both ends of the spectrum. Overly generous or embarassingly miserly.

PATCHES Clarence CarterSPOKEN: I was born and raised down in AlabamaOn a farm way back up in the woodsI was so ragged the folks used call me patchesPapa used to teas me about itBut deep down insideHe was hurt because he done all he could do
SUNG:
My papa was a great old manI can see him with a shovel in his hand diggingEducation he never hadBut he did wonders when the time got badA little money from the crops he raisedHelped pay the bills we madeFor months he'd been sick and down in the dumpsWhen he tried to get up life would kick him back downOne day papa called me to his dyin? bedPut his hands on my shoulders And in tears he saidPatches, I'm depending on you sonTo pull the family through My son, it's all left up to youSPOKEN: Two days later papa passed awayI became a man that daySo I told mama I was gonna quit schoolBut she said that was daddy?s strictest rule
SUNG:So every morning before I went to schoolI fed the chickens and I chopped wood tooSometimes I felt that I couldn't go onI wanted to leave and run away from homeBut I would remember what my daddy saidWith tears in his eyes on his dyin bedHe said, "Patches, I'm depending on you sonTo pull the family through. My son its all left up to youSPOKEN: Then one day a strong rain cameAnd washed all the crops awayAnd at the age of thirteen I thought I was carryingThe weight of the whole world on my shouldersAnd you know, mama knew what I was going through, Cause
SUNG:
Everyday I had to work the fieldsCause that's the only way we got our mealsYou see, I was the oldest of a familyAnd everybody else depended on meEvery night I heard my mama pray Lord, give him the strength to face another dayThough years have passed and all the kids have grownThe Angels took mama to a brand new homeBut, No people,I never quitMy daddy's voice still rings through the fields Sayin, "Patches, I'm depending on you sonTo pull the family through My son, it's all left up to youPatches, I'm depending on you son FADE
Followed by the unforgettable:
SWINGIN'
John Anderson
There's a little girl in our neighborhood
Her name is Charlotte Johnson and she's really looking good
I had to go and see her so I called her on the phone
I walked over to her house, and this was going on:
Her brother was on the sofa eating chocolate pie
Her mama was in the kitchen cutting chicken up to fry
Her daddy was in the backyard rolling up a garden hose
I was on the porch with Charlotte feeling love down to my toes
And we were swingin'
Yeah we were swingin'
Little Charlotte she's as pretty as the angels when they sing
I can't believe it started on her front porch in the swing
Just a swingin'
Now Charlotte is a darling she's the apple of my eye
When I'm on the swing with her it makes me almost high
Now Charlotte is my lover and she has been since the spring
I just can't believe it started on her front porch in the swing
Just a swingin'

I admittedly was a Kingdomhallic. Intended to do the slow-fade (a term I thought I ingeniously invented until reading up on this forum) but had a fire lit under me recently. Three weeks out so far and no feeling whatsoever. Waiting for "the call". I think now I have "the answer". If hard pressed to say I feel anything, I would have to say that I am slowly feeling awashed in peace. Sure, I may backslide; but peace sure feels good for now.
