Yup the one on the left holding the sun glasses is certainly hot. Gee if we had hot looking sisters like that in the area I lived in I would probably still be there. What county is this Darth.

Committee chairman = Your a good man. Comparing you to what I went through I just wonder how you manage to do it. I was just a publisher so how much more turmoil it must be for you been an elder been on JC, disfellowshipping people for the very things that you have questions about. Can't you sort of see a conflict of interest. I just can't get over how drastically my life has changed over 2 years. When I was first discovering TTATT I honestly thought I could play in both worlds. I can go to the meetings, F'S etc and still know that there are some things drastically wrong. 18 months ago I walked out of the KH for the last time. The mountain just got to big for me. I feel frustrated that I can't openly say anything to indoctrinated family members for fear of making my situation worse than what it is. Anyway I wish you the best and BTW I'm not having a go at you either.

BTW some of the other replies I have got when I have tried to mention this to are.
2 people who are publishers. "Probably media hype". And one of those 2 people went on to tell me that I had presented him with "hurt full information."
1 person a bethelite. She now just Dosnt respond to me any more.
The only person who said "I feel really sorry for those victims and I hope they get the help they need" was from this random guy I meet on the net who had studied with the witnesses on and off over the years and was an apologist.
It seems to be the higher up the ladder they get the less likely they are to except that this is a very real problem the organisation is facing.

Eden one - I certainly can understand where you are coming from with your MIL statements. The reply I got when trying to tell a family member about the Conti case was, "she wasn't interested in apostate literature".When I explained I wasn't aware the New York times was apostate. I was then told "well don't read overseas news papers because this is going to confuse you".
(e.g 2)When I also tried to bring up the resent Gonzalo Campos case with a friend who lives in the San Diego area and was totally oblivious to it. The reply I got was "he had better and more important things to worry about".
Both examples just flawed me really. I guess that just about sums up everything.

"The Friends"
by FeelingFree ini have only come across this term very recently on jwn and in an "apostate" video i watched yesterday.
never have i heard anyone refer to jw's as "the friends" here in the uk.
is it just used in america?.
-
joe134cd
Yeah not used a lot here and I live out side the Americas and Europe. Mainly brother and sister. I had noticed it was a term commonly used by American witnesses.

Are they spirit directed I would probably have to say "No", going by all the failed hopes and promises, and terrible effect they have had on people's lives.

Sorry carrying on from my previous post. Using the example of King David. Yes he was imperfect and yes he made some pretty big mistakes. But the thing with the bible is the didn't try to hide it from the Israelite nation. I think Wt need to be a bit more honest and up front about its history and polices and procedures. Using myself as an example again. I learnt more about the watchtower and how it functions in 18 months than I ever did going to the Hall in just under 4 decades. Even now it stuns me how just how completely in the dark I was. I also think that a member if he chooses to disagree with them. He should feel free to voice his opinion with out fear of reprisals.

There are 2 replies to question 1. I can understand why they would insist that followers not go on the internet. Using myself as an example i would probably still be sitting inside the walls of the watchtower if it wasn't for the internet. So it can be quite a dangerous and formidable place to be when an apologist comes across a site critical to the Wt.
But on saying that if it is the truth and they are in fact imperfect individuals who make mistakes e.g king David.

I believe eventually they will be forced to hand over those files and some one at a senior level will have to take the witness box. If they lose on appeal they will just get steamed rolled if they don't.
