I don't know if you're familiar with Terminator but I've always regarded this question similarly to the John Connor paradox. The leader of the human resistance, John Connor, sends a soldier named Kyle Reese to 1986 to save Sarah Connor. Sarah Connor has sex with Kyle Reese and gives birth to John Connor in 1986. He grows up to be the leader of the human resistance and send Kyle Reese (his father) back to 1986 to save his mother and impregnate her. So in a way John Connor is like god, he has no beggining because he himself is the cause of his beggining. These are the kind of paradoxes that time travel creates but can also be applied to the concept of god.

Does God read Shakespeare? "to be or not to be, that is THE QUESTION?--"
by prologos inother equally flippant questions on the subject:.
"who created the creator?".
"who designed the designer?".

They are Definitely Attacking "Higher Education"
by XBEHERE ina friend of mine recently had his co visit and in the elders meeting the co out-right asked the question: how are the friends doing in your cong.
as regards pursuing higher education?
the co continued...you know in view of all the counsel from the slave regarding the dangers.

You're telling me about it. I'm basically regarded as the spawn of Satan for going to college by almost everyone in my cong. A few months ago even the CO started to directly pressure me saying that I'm such a smart guy and I would serve Jokehovah better if I would abandon higher education and enroll to Bethhell. I politely declined but he said that by the next visit he hopes I'll make the right call and join their forces at Beth-hell. I now have to find a reason to refuse him again. If he keeps pressuring me I might kick his ass.

I'm in a somewhat similar situation. I'm not married but my parents, relatives, friends, pretty much everyone are JW's. I decided to take everything very slowly. I already see some of them beggining to quietly question some of the more stupid things promoted by WT. Our quest is long but totally worth it. I hope that eventually I will help get out as many as possible. I've started to stop believing the WT crap a few years ago. I think the more you educate yourself about what the WT really is the better it will be. Even though we were taught to think that JW's being a cult is completely ridiculous, in time you will notice more and more how true it is. This will empower you to make better decisions.

Experiences: CAA needs to emotionally vomit... catharsis... release ... etc.
by confusedandalone inok, so i have been on this journey for about a year or so.
i feel like i am no longer a part of this whacked out religion, however at the same time after spending so many years in it there have been a huge array of things that have happened to me that i feel i need to talk about.
not because they will help anyone who reads them, not because they are the slightest bit interesting, but because i can no longer keep them bottled up and expect to move on.. alot of things i have experienced hurt me deeply... although i was able to move forward with my life these things tend to hang around in my mind because i have never been able to tell anyone outside of my wife.

Confusedandalone I read some of your stories here and they're very entertaining, but this one is by far the best. And here I tought I was naughty getting a handjob at a district convention but you, you got a blowjob just a few hundred yards away from JW Vatican. You sir are my hero !

What is your weirdest field service experience ?
by cookiemaster inmine just popped in my head and i just had to share it.
a few years ago i went with a special pioneer(and elder) at one of his studies who was a cow herder in the mountains.
obviously, even though we were going to the middle of nowhere, where no one lived, we just had to go all dressed up in nice suits and all.

Wow, a lot of stories involving perverts, lol. The one with the baby in the oven and the man with the cross are funny as well.
3rdgen Me in the yearbook would be hilarious as I've donne pretty much every single thing the JW's forbid, lol.

Mine just popped in my head and I just had to share it. A few years ago I went with a special pioneer(and elder) at one of his studies who was a cow herder in the mountains. Obviously, even though we were going to the middle of nowhere, where no one lived, we just had to go all dressed up in nice suits and all. When we got there the dude wasn't home but his wife said he left for the forrest with the cows. There was no reception there so I figured we'd obviously go home.
But no, the very zealous pioneer insisted we should look for him in the mountains because we might even get a good 10 minutes of studying with him. So we go, all dressed up with ties and suits and our service briefcases into the tick forrest, climbing rocky mountains, looking like two complete idiots. It was one of the most morronic and weird things I've ever done in my life. It was a damn hardcore mountain forrest and here you have two young men dressed up in suits and carrying briefcases just strolling along. If someone would have seen us, it would have been the weirdest thing ever. We get to a river and cross it in our nice shoes, and get completely wet. Nevertheless we continue on and on, through mud and with our clothes teared, for another two hours before he decides to give up. Honestly, half this time I just kept laughing at the stupidity of the situation. What about you ? Ever done something funny or weird during field service ?

Went to a Christmas concert at Bethel yesterday!
by Gopher inyes, you read that right.. bethel university is a christian college in a suburb of saint paul, minnesota.
the performers were ernie haase and the signature sound, a gospel quartet from the southern united states.
i went along with friends & my girlfriend who are believers.. for me, there were enough seasonal/secular songs to balance out the gospel / jesus songs.

Again thank you for your warm welcome. Your insight and advices seem very wise and are welcome. I'm also glad to hear that I'm not the only recent defector and that they're also other newbies around here. Angus I also wonder how many just hang around so they won't be disfellowshiped and shunned by everyone. To answer 1009's question, I can keep up appearences for decades if needed but if I'll see a right moment to get myself and my family out I will seize it without hesitation. I just have to play it cautious for now. Oubliette I agree that their mental control is very powerful. Thoughtless I'm glad you made it and thanks for the kind words. Mr. Flipper, thanks for the support, it's exactly why I came here. It's hard to be alone surounded by meek WT sheep, being the only one who thinks freely. That's why I appreciate this forum so much. I don't have to be alone in all this and I finally have a place where I can speak my mind about all this.

Words can't express how genuinly impressed I am by your warm welcoming. Your kind words have thouched my heart. Also, I need to thank many of you for the great pieces of advice you gave me. I also loved all the jokes you made. I wish I could answer to each and every one of you but you are so many and I don't want to spam this forum.
The funny thing about my situation is that despite my mom being an uber duber j dub since the early 70's, she now regrets not getting an education because everyone told her the big A was coming soon. She supports me fully to get a higher education because of the hard life she had after stoping from pioneering. My father really doesn't care, he's ok with it either way. Nevertheless, the CO kinda pressures me to enroll to Bethel and give up college. Of course I won't do that, but I want to refuse him gently so he won't make a big deal out of it.
I think the WT must have like a team of psychologists, specialized in mind control, that gives them advice now how to keep the sheep meek. The CO himself he's happy at least I'm not studying psychology or philosophy because those areas of study don't go well with being a JW (he's right, they make you to harder subject for mind control). About the elder assigning me to read, it's because we live in a very small town where most JW's are so uneducated that they can barely read fluently, and that's why I read every single Sunday. Thanks for listening to my story, it's therapeutic to have a place where you can write what goes through your mind. Thank you all !

Wow, so manny responses in such a short amount of time. Thank you ! You guys really made me feel better after spending 2 hours of being looked at as the slave of Satan. Sorry for the silly username but it's intentionally made different from everything else I use online so that nobody that knows me will recognize me ( yeah, I'm that paranoid). Anyway, thanks again for warm welcoming and the support ! You guys are awesome !
