A house built on Fallacies, well that would certainly be a house built on posts like they do those beach houses and of course the phal ... oh ... wait ... fallacies.
Never mind.
here are just a few examples of the kinds of fallacious dub arguments we've heard and used ourselves when we were dubs.
heck, the whole darn religion is nothing but a series of fallacious arguments!.
ad hominem - (attack the arguer, not the argument).

here is my dilemma - short and to the point, need advice.
i met a man several months ago who is jw and we hit it off from the first night we met - (met in lounge) - and then spoke to him on a few occasions.
he admitted to me the first night we went out that he was married, at first i wasn't sure if i should pursue this, then he just swept me off my feet.
OMG I almost had a heart attack when I read the topic.

why do some guys feel the need to have sex with their ex-girlfriends?
is this a common thing?
how many of you guys did or do this?.

Listen to him. This is good advice.
well, i just finished building my first model airplane from scratch.
all in all, it has taken probably a little over 20 hours to construct, cover, and finish.
i have got all the rc gear in there, gas engine fitted, and it is ready to fly.. but... i'm scared!
Dude, the key, and listen carefully - is to not fly the plane into yourself.
That's it, that's the list.

part of me thinks having sex with him will trigger some stron emotions and make him want me again.
It will be just the opposite. He tries to have sex with you when he's horny.

.
if you could go back to the time when jesus was on earth, and you could actually talk to him, what would you ask him?.
would you have followed him, knowing that the end was thousands of years away?
I might try to save that Damn fig tree.
(everything deserves a second chance)
just for fun guys... .
if the watchtower made a most wanted list, much like the u.s.'s anti-terrorist list.
who would be the top three.

just got my mail order copy of crisis of conscience... got to chapter 2 in the first 20 mins!!!.
who else has read it, and what are your thoughts ???.
i've enjoyed it so far, and am glad to see how respectful ray franz was in his writing, with no 'outright attacks' on the wtbts.. bull!
I wish that Ray had gone into more detail about his "private converstations" with people. Ed and his Spanish friends.
I would like to have known more in detail how these private conversations were affected after Carl Jonsson's treatise came to Bethal and then the personal thoughts of mind control that Ray had.
How did the converstations go etc. "Hey Ed, I've known you a long time. Guess what we're in a cult - let's go tell the Spanish folks?"
did the wts's lies, hypocricy, corruption, abuse, dishonesty, control, inconsistencies, self-righteousness, judgment, sexism, ignorance, and anything else you can think of.................................................make you lose whatever faith you had before??????????????.
i know many here were raised dubs and forced to do things until old enough to stand up to their parents, not because of belief!
but i'm interested in knowing how many had some kind of belief in god that was later damaged or destroyed by the wts's teachings and/or treatment?.
Good question.
I think I believe in God because of the optic nerve.
Beyond that I believe in family, baseball, hockey, football, friends and working around the house.
That's it. That's the list.
with all the talk about how awful the convention is i am thinking about going this weekend in fort worth just for kicks and giggles... and to record the talks.
does anyone local to the dfw are have a digital recorder that can record up to eight hours of voice?
i'd like to try to avoid buying one.

Why not take your copy of "Crisis of Conscience," and every time the audience is asked to look up a Scripture, flip through it like it's your Bible and then laugh uproariously.
That has me laughing uproariously. (wiping tears)
