  Two Questions

  i have two questions, mostly for commited christians, though i'm sure somehow, that others will reply too.. 1) does prayer change god or his mind?.

  2) if not, why pray?.

  i have my own opinion on the subject, but i may be adjusting my understanding of god.. have fun!.

  Hey, I need to do some more thinking on this issue, however, in the case of Jonah, who changed, God or Jonah? God already knew, He knew Jonah would eventually preach, and He knew the Ninevites would repent, for a season. When we perceieve that God has changed, is it really us that changes, our attitude. Is this what is meant by having the mind of Christ, conforming our will to that of God's. Like I said, I'm still working out this issue for myself.

  Sheep / Goat / Righteously Inclined / Meek Like??

  this will probally sound like an elementary question but it is one that the wittnesses have never giving me a solid answer on.. are you born a sheep or a goat?.

  are some born more righteously inclined?.

  if the answer is yes, then why?

  Jim,

  To answer Yes to that question, yes, that some are more spiritually inclined then others, would necessitate the beleif in PreDestination. Something I solidly reject. I DO however, think that some feel God's calling more clearly than do others. Environment will play a role in whether they know how to answer that call. The drug addict and the saint are seeking to do the same thing, to fill a God sized hole in their being.

  Good analogy. Problem is, on leaving the Borg many are fleeing, and don't know where they want to go. Unfortuantely, too many of them end up not only leaving the BORG< but also abandoning Christianity all together.

  ok, another of my mundane questions.. when tested by the pharisees about paying taxes, jesus said "whose inscription and whose image is on the coin, 'ceasar's' they replied.

  'then give to ceasar the things which are ceasar's and to god, the things which are god's".

  intepretation anyone?.

  Would you slam the door in his face?

  if a man knocked on your door and introduced himself as jesus christ son of jehovah, would you ask him in and feed him or would you slam the door in his face and call the cops?.

  if your daughter came home pregnant and claimed it was an imaculate conception, would you believe her?.

  why do you believe in the other virgin birth?.

  To Rick on H2O...

  i just posted this on h2o and though i'd put a copy here as well.... hi rick,.

  i just thought it may be appropriate for me to express my appreciation for your site and what you have accomplished over the last few years and i'm sure will continue to do.. like many others, h2o was one of the sites which helped to open my eyes to the watchtower society and beliefs and practices of jehovahs witnesses and realise that there were things seriously wrong which a lot of other people saw as well - it wasn't just limited to our local congregation.. i did participate on h2o occasionally as caliban but never really kept up-to-date with all the posters, personalities and what was going on between them.. the reason i decided to create an alternative forum, www.jehovahs-witness.com, was because at the time it appeared that the very pro-jw community was well served by witnet and the anti-jw's had h2o but that it may have been a bit too much for the 'mildly curious' jw to visit.

  my idea was to have a forum more like witnet which would gradually allow more open discussion than was allowed there without being too off putting to many as a way of introducing the issues to them more gently.. i'm sure your views and standpoints have changed over the years and mine have too.

  Thanks for sharing, I was curious about you myself. I don't think this board was set up in opposition or competition to Rick's but I do feel that this board is fulfilling my needs better at this time. I missed all the hub bub a few months ago at Rick's site, but when I returned from my travels the board had taken a definite turn. Hoping Rick's site improves in tenor, it serves God in a great way, as does yours.

  Sorry for all the trouble the Borg has given you, hope you and your father can reamin in touch.

  Immaculate Conception = Mary was conceived without the stain of original sin so that Jesus could be born in a pure vessel.

  Virgin= Yes, in bible times the word can be translated maiden, the virginity is PRESUMED within the term maiden. Were a young lady known to have had relations she would NOT have been called a maiden, but a prostitute.

  i guess that might say something in and of itself.. thanks to everybody who replied to my last post i just got through reading the responses.

  i have to say i didn't clarify my last post very well as i was pretty emotional at the time.

  i would definately fade out of the congo slowly if i could but the thing is i'm still living at home so it would be very hard to do.

  WELCOME to the Board,

  The struggle is your own, I recommend prayer. My advice is just like everyone elses, so take it with a grain of salt. First, drop the roles they have you playing at the meetings, then, let a few meetings slip, pick em up again, slip, a slow downward spiral. Also, begin looking for a job that will allow you to live on your own. Never publically question or challenge the BORG until your break is complete.

  god tested abraham by telling him to sacrafice his son issac.

  since god is omniscient (knows all, knows the end from the beginning) he already knew abraham would go through with it unless god stopped him.

  what was the purpose of this test?.

  Yes, GOD knew what Abraham would do, but Abraham didn't know what he would do until he was about to go through with it.

  Was that conversation for God's sake, or that of Abraham. God already knew that there were not even 5 righteous in the city. This discussion happened for the sake of Abraham that he might learn to trust the justice and mercy of God.
