  Ann Landers died today did she ever help you?

  well known columnist advisor to many the world over passed away today at age 83, two weeks short of her birthday on july 4th .

  what do you think the best advise she ever gave over the years that was helpful to you or some one you know?.

  her twin sister pauline is dear abby.

  I wrote to Dear Abby once...about fifteen years ago. I was married to jw-husband #2 and he had left me, but was writing to and calling me a lot, wanting to come back to me. So, I wrote her and told her how our marriage had been and if she thought I should take him back. It didn't get into the papers, but she wrote me a nice letter, saying that I should NOT. He came back to CA and tried to get back in my bed. But, I listened to the Wise One and just stayed his friend. He married a nice jw woman, had a little girl, heard through the grapevine that they weren't very happy and then he disassociated himself.

  Am I glad I listened to Abby? I guess. Since he's been disassociated, I have wanted to talk with him again and encourage him to come here, cause I know what it's like to be out and still believe it's the truth. I will always think of him with love, even though we fought like crazy. It was a passionate relationship and it's better this way.

  after reading the thread (link below) about the df jw lad, it occured to me sites like this surely can help to save lives (sadly not in this example).

  it makes the blood boil to think the borg as ruined so many peoples families, responsibility lays with them for suicides!

  I want to thank you, too, Simon, for this fantastic web site.

  Although I was prone to suicide even before I entered my zombie state of jwism, the religion made matters much worse. I was the only one in my family to become a jw and with all my children grown and husbands gone before I walked away, I didn't have to deal with the horrors of my family not speaking to me like so many do. Bad enough to have lost one good friend who is still a jw.

  There have been so many times that thoughts of suicide have entered my brain. But, I learned so many years ago, that things usually are better the next day, that (if I take my zoloft) I can deal with things if I just hang on. So, that's what I've been doing. And thanks to websites like this, I have met some extremely great people who help me out of my funk. I am so proud to be an exjw and to know so many others who have weathered leaving and have survived.

  well here i am its about 3:30 in the morning and ive been sitting here and drinking beer and im feeling it i guess this is ultimatly why i was kicked out of the org.

  but im in denial that i have a problem with alchoacal maybe because i dont drink all the time maybe cuz i can drink without getting drunk but what is sad is that when im alone i just drink to get drunk cuz i hate being alone what the hell am i doing?

  im typing this out loud no wonder i was caught

  not interested, one more thing. I have made some very good friends from posting on boards. I've even gone and met some of them. Just give it time, I know that you won't always feel this blue. Believe me, I know how much it hurts. ((((ni))))

  (((not interested.))) I wish you were here and not alone. For some reason, I am not bothered too much or too often about my aloneness. The worst time recently that I felt alone was when my youngest son joined the Navy. That night (I had walked away from the borg and still had some nagging doubts about my leaving) I noticed that he had left a pack of cigarettes on the bar. It all hit me that I was truly alone, I was on my own. I started drinking and got pretty wasted. I lit up a cigarette. Started coughing. I hadn't smoked for years. It was the worst feeling I had had in a long time. The smoking enhanced my drunkeness, but I still felt like shit. What was I gonna do with my life now? The next morning I threw the pack away. I felt that I had no one in my life, that I was alienated from everyone.

  As time went on, I started storing my son's things and taking control of my home and my life. I like my alone time now. It would be nice to have someone around to talk with...I guess that's why I come to the internet so much. I can share my feelings with you and you with me.

  I have a big bottle of scotch here and probably one of these nights I will get ripped, but usually a glass will suffice to make me cheery and comfortable with my life.

  well, here are my thoughts on the subject.

  we sit here and bash the wbts for having gender separation, but what about us apostates?

  do the women apostates carry as much weight as the men, and why do you say so?

  Being a newbie, I thought JanH was a male, because of his mustache. But, when you said he was a she, I was surprised, but believed you. There was a post about facial hair on women today, so I just assumed...

  Does anyone grow their own herbs?

  i am looking for some help regarding harvesting herbs (yes......real herbs!)..

  i know w/basil, it must be blanched for 1-2 seconds and then dried before it can be frozen.

  oregano, i believe has to be dried.

  now that you're out of the borg and don't have to get up saturdays to peddle magazines, try to fit in the family watchtower study, get up sunday mornings to rush off to the kingdom hall, do you feel like week-ends are great?

  it feels great just to sleep late on one or two of those days if i want to.

  i can spend hours on the internet or read a whole newspaper.

  this morning as i was trimming my beard, i was thinking about when i was a drone and the times that iws counseled about my 5:00 shadow at the meetings, and i rembered a time when my dad was told to go and trim his sideburns b 4 he could go on stage at an assembly.. at one time it promted a friend of mine and i to write a letter to the society, since they could change thier minds on doctrinal issues as the light gets brighter we thought maybe we could get them to change thier minds on this issue, (yeah right).

  a few months later he recived a letter from the society the essence of it was like this : it would not be inapproiate for a brother to wear a nice trim beard but the elders in the local area would have to detirmin if it would be acceptable for the brother to be used in the cong.

  and go door to door, as some areas might be more open to it than others.

  Hi, not interested, I think that is a very good idea, send the suggestion to Brooklyn.

  I would also suggest that the sisters start knitting large hoods for head coverings. You know how jw men are so picky about looks: they will need the hoods so that they can have sex with these hairy women.
