My mum and I had a similar conversation other day. Where she mentions experts who think xxx. What makes an expert or a scholar? You could find a scholar who thinks almost anything. You can't just agree with something because a scholar says it. You can't trust something just because a genius believes it. You need to consider all the evidence and review many opinions and form a general consensus. Or think for yourself! A genius or scholar thinking something is hardly reason to go along.

I had to read this a few times to get it.
Do YOU die because you Believe in Adam sin?... NO.. Are you saved because of Christ sacrifice or because you Believe IT... why Do you have to believe IT .. he either paid the price or didn't .. Why the condition of Believing IT is placed on IT?
Wow. Nice reasoning.

Villagegirl, do I understand correctly that you believe in god and the bible? I could understand wanting to believe in god. But not how you think the bible came from him. I get tired of the same old postings all the time, but I'll ask the questions anyways.
Why did he make viruses and diseases? Why ticks, fleas, Mosquitos, and flys like the Tse Tse fly? Why make skunks with a smell, snakes with venom, electric eels, turtles with a shell? Not for any reason the bible says. If you can't believe everything in the bible, then why do you feel qualified to decide what you CAN believe?
Why would he answer prayers of people like you and not hear them from poor kids being sexually abused as I type this?
Why did he not like vegetables when Cain offered them as a sacrifice? Why didn't he spend some time reasoning with Cain to help him not murder? I mean for gods sake he was talking to him! Say something to help Abel or help Cain or keep quiet! Why talk and not do something constructive? What a f'ing waste of time. God speaks to Cain and doesn't reason with him or help him see more clearly? He says something vague about sin and then does nothing as the first murder takes place? Then has pity for Cain and helps him!!! Gives him an incestuous marriage and a curse if anyone hurts HIM? No help for Abel but help for Cain?! That makes sense
God can't help or step in due to this vague universal sovereignty bullshit but he does step in to screw the chances people have of making it without him. He can't stop a tsunami due to universal sovereignty but he can cause a flood, confuse languages, send the Israelites into a land to commit genocide and the list goes on.
Belief in a god I can understand wanting. But clinging to the bibles version of god and the bibles inspiration is nutty.

then i read the thread, new ray franz?.

Frankie that's a fantastic observation. I just emailed my sister to ask her about that verse.
Very interesting that they change that wording and the equate it to teaching when it has nothing to do with it.

Bad chronology - Samuel, Saul and David
by Jeffro inaccording to 1 samuel 13:1, in the oldest hebrew manuscripts, saul ruled for two years (assuming saul actually existed at all, for which there is no hard evidence).
however, various [christian] translators assume this 'must' be an error because acts 13:21 says saul reigned for forty years.
saul's age at 1 samuel 13:1 is conveniently missing from the oldest manuscripts.

Interesting when you lift the veil on the bible and look at it candidly.

JWs and Earthquakes
by okage inyesterday, my wife's sister shared on facebook a screen capture of people talking about the earthquake in china.
the top of the list was a twitter user saying "is it just me or are these 5.0+ quakes coming more frequently" (paraphrasing).
her response "people are finally seeing what's coming" (not paraphrasing).. initially, this pissed me off because there is no increase in earthquakes.

You Can Doubt The Bible, But Don't You Dare Doubt The bOrg
by Comatose init's interesting how with believing friends and family you can openly doubt the bible.
you can doubt the flood and talk about it.
you can doubt the old testament.

Exactly. Have had talks with family. Main worry was about organization. Doubts on bible accounts went flying by.
