i am a non jw who has been doing a fair amount of research on my own in hopes of finding some answers and understanding for my current heartwrenching situation:.
i have been dating a man for the last while, and we grew very close, very quickly.. .
suddenly he has pulled away from me, gotten very skittish and says he feels like he is leading a double life, and isn't ready for a relationship.. all the while stating that his impending divorce is the reason for his cold feet, which could be understandable except the marriage was very much "over" long ago.

Seriously, RUN! I can honestly say us JW & xJW have loads of issues, but at least we are one, or the other.
The absolute worst person to be involved with is someone who is leading a double life/lying to themselves/lying to you.
OK, now I've seen that you were involved before and I'm imagining the romance of it all. ....still, he needs to sort himself out & come to you as a divorced xJW, or stop messing around.

i`m just speaking from my own experience here ,and it has occured to me that over the 33 years i was a witness and in the six congrgations i was a part of , except for a few exceptions, the majority of sisters in the congregations did not have a grasp of the so called deeper things of god,according to wt theology, sure they could run off " bible topics for discussion" sermons but very few could take a discussion any further than that.whereas i was aware that males seemed more likely to delve deeper into, not only the scriptures,but also the wt interpretations as a whole.
don`t get me wrong a few women left me for dead in their comprehension of topics ,but i`m just saying overall i found this to be the case ... my experience... smiddy.

Hey smiddy, I never had a grasp of the so called "deeper things". I found it incredibly boring, even when it was a matter of life & death I still found it dull.
Since being on this forum I've tried to follow some of the more convoluted theological discussion, and it just kills me! I cannot make my brain stay focused for more than 10 seconds on this stuff.
BUT, I am a great student, i do have a science degree, and a second degree, and have had a serious career.
SO..... Some of us just aren't interested, even when you are born in.
Reading people's stories on this forum, emotions and feelings seem to lead people out just as much as doctrinal issues.
also, I want to second what Xanthippe said, there's no role for women in the congregation anyway, and plenty of social penalties await anyone that appears to question the brothers!
what the watchtower society has is focus.
what ex-jw's lack is that very thing...in spades.. .

About the gay stuff? You know how crazy it is for someone to think it doesn't exist/can be changed right?
About human sexuality.......there are a million different variations, JW generally come from a very sheltered place when it comes to discussing sex. Years ago I realized that a lot of JW really don't know much about this topic, so file their sh*t away & forget it!

i feel bad saying this to all of you poor ol' stay at homes who may be experiencing cold winter weather, but we're in hawaii for a few days before heading to austrailia.
last evening we were doing the stroll along the beach walk and happened upon one of those jw literature tables i had only heard about up until now.
there was a young japanese couple looking at the literature as we passed.

but would you say that leaving has maybe caused you to do some things that you would not have normally have done in life ?
for me personally now i have lots of free time ( mine all mine, evil laugh) i have almost finished my first novel.
I have made friends with all kinds of people, and I don't even know or care what their religion is.
I have been surprised by how much I love exercise, I crave it every day, it has become a habit over the years.
I have done a lot of dance classes, now I have been practicing yoga for years. I love it. My body feels better than it ever has my whole life. I have made a lot of friends through these activities also.
I think the life I lived as a JW was very unhealthy for me, after full time work, there was only time for meetings & study. If I had stayed in I may have been fat & miserable by now......though I was young & thin at the time, I didn't know what it was like to feel physically great.....now I do....
I also love the sun :) bad I know, but, I find myself thinking, well, you were meant to be in the new system by now, so, go for it.
this is something that has always bothered me!.
why do rank and file have to pay for co's do's expenses, car, health insurance, meals, etc, etc...?.
didn't the apostle paul say that all christians have to be self sufficient and work?, not depending on anyone else and cause a burden?.
How much money do they get? Do they also claim unemployment benefits?
Do they have superannuation & health insurance? I didn't know that we paid for the CO?
i have just finished an article misquotes, deception and lies and would like your comments, proof reading, and any other examples that you think are important to add.
most of these already appear on jwfacts.com within specific articles, but it is more powerful seeing them included together.
