Deuteronomy 18: 20-22 and the FDS's failed prophesies.
by braincleaned inwhen jw's come to my door, i don't tell them i am an ex, just because they will move on and you will not have helped them see the obvious.. so i show them this scripture, and the new wt of july 2013 makes it even easier to confirm that new light is just moving the goalposts.. if jehovah really exists, they are in for some heavy crapstorm from him!.
deuteronomy 18: 20-22:.
20however, the prophet who presumes to speak in my name a word that i have not commanded him to speak or who speaks in the name of other gods, that prophet must die.. 21and in case you should say in your heart: how shall we know the word that jehovah has not spoken?.

I am so tired of this scripture being used as an attacking point.
That scripture was originally meant as a way to identify the messiah and the false messiahs,
and was not meant for after that time.
It told them to look for one like Moses and can do more than Moses.
There would be many that would claim to be him and even do signs like Moses, so that was to tell them to believe them all.

Symposium with a talk about "Human Apostates"
by Prime in"there is a symposium with a talk about "human apostates" that is very slanderous and defamatory and has the ex-jw blogosphere up in arms over it.".
if a person doesn't fit the description outlined in this talk, the talk isn't referring to you.. .

Not so fast.
One thing that I noticed is that it says apostates stop and discourage the preaching work.
However the point of that statement is that the preachers are their sales force. One way to not get people to drop off the sales force, is to get them to believe that stopping or slowing down is a sign of apostacy and they don't want that.
It's all about keeping the sales force active.

The point, Giordano, is that they are hypocrites just loving the titles for the congregation's sake but going against it the rest of the time when it does not suit them. Maybe you had such a simple life that it would not factor in.
I said wife, because you would not know what they are like at home otherwise.
She said to me that we will never get ahead in this system. So, typical, blaming the system and not the actions of an anchor just dragging us down.
When I was single, I was ahead.

Former Long Time Elder: Why I am still in
by James Jackson ina customer on my route with whom i have had some lively debates was his number 1 complaint is that "the witnesses have so many rules".
last month i agreed with on this issue.
he asked why the change, i told him that i have been doing some soul searching.

Something that is right is right because it is right, not because the Watchtower or the Bible says so.
And vice versa.

I started this thread because my PW has been making congregation territory wall maps and for their cards. They are paying for that. While she was traveling from the KH after a congregat's memorial service to where they had the get together, she got a speeding ticket (I was glad I had to work that day until that happened, made it so I worked for nothing.) Thereafter she stated that she needed a new computer for her designing. I told her, no you have to save for your ticket. She bought one without asking me (It was a good deal anyway). Now the credit cards are maxed.
Today the bossman called me in to work. The convention at least twice mentioned that we should not miss meetings for work or overtime. I saw screw that, hypocrites. Listening to what they say, pulls one out of the faith more than direct negative talk.

How many of you followed the WTS direction on education years ago and have been screwed by it?
by Julia Orwell ini'm really interested in this question because i've heard for years that if you forgo further education and go pioneering, when you have a family down the track you will get a good job because jehovah will provide for you because you pioneered.
as long as i was a kool-aid drinker, even then, i thought, "how does pioneering pay your bills?
surely education should come first.

Do you still have faith in humanity?
by lfcviking injust yesterday at the airport i dropped my wallet coming out of a shop and a very kind man picked it up and ran up to me and asked "excuse me is this yours?
" to which i gave a startled but relieved reply of "yes, thankyou very much!"..
i was amazed by his honesty & kindness for doing this deed and wondered for a moment what would have happened if he'd have put it in his pocket instead.

Yes and no. I have been looking at the things that humans have created and how that is the purpose in life.
But No, the fact the government of the people is too heavy handed and there is no mercy or caring out ther.

I just want a divorce!
by bornfree123 inhi there, this is my first post, but i've been buzzing around this site for years.. i got married at 18, hubby was 20, i was a regular pioneer and we were talking about serving in bethel.
fast forward - i left in 2004 after a 5 year battle with my conscience, family and friends who kept insisting that i was just "weak and needed to have another bible study".
however hubby and i stayed together although it was kinda on the understanding that we would just not talk about it.

walls of jericho said "Divorce is not unscriptural".
That is incorrect. Besides my hating that word 'scriptural', it does say that Jehovah is hating a divorce so he does not want that.
It is just that legal action does not break the marriage ties. But when one has sex with another that breaks the ties because it forms new ones.
That is what happened in Israel. They didn't have weddings. They had sex and that made them married.
So by Jesus' words, the divorce would make the one feel free to remarry but that would not not be free. Then that 2nd marriage would break the first bonds and form new ones. It would not be an adulterous marriage as there is no such thing. Only that moment was adulterous.
