So they are mandating that ones marry only in the Lord. Don't people see the problem with that.
What if GM were to say that GM workers can only buy GM vehicles. If ones doesn't then one is disobedient and can be fired.
That is stupid because they should consider why one would be something other than what they design and build; don't they have pride in their own work? Management should ask the reasons for that. People would tell them that they don't have good quality or value or performance.
If they are mandating that then they are not considering what they can do to improve the product to get people to voluntarily buy it. Thus how good of a product do you have if you have to mandate its purchase.
The same with mandating people to marry in the Lord. They are not asking or considering why people are looking outside. They are not trying to improve their product (the people). They just try to reduce demand. And if they have to mandate the one's mate choice, then isn't that saying that Witnesses arent that great of a choice? There are things one can't do anything about; looks and money. we would all like to look better and make more money but can't. But there are many things that they could improve and then people would voluntariliy MOITL, but they don't care. There would be so many more available if they would just ban the AAA club. You know, the Available After Armageddon club, where so many wait to get married, then they end up being too old.
It's like in the Communist countries. The people could only buy products made within their country. They had no competition so the quality and variety of the products were lacking.
It is another sign of a cult to say "If a dedicated servant of Jehovah married an unbeliever, this would be an act of disobedience to God". because who determines what makes one dedicated - baptized? That would be one had to study 2 books from the Society and then get baptized. So if one does not do what the governing body laid out, then that one is disobedient to God.

Wasn't supporting your Family in the Borg rather difficult?
by Poindexter Lionel Humperdique inis it just me, or is it hard enough to support your family without the restrictions of north of 10 hours a week of required meetings and field service exacerbated by the requirements of circuit and district assemblies and auxillary pioneering at least once a year?
especialy in a tough economy, how dare the borg demand so much of our brothers, and chastise those that work overtime just to pay rent and put food on the table.
furthermore, wouldn't it be loving to direct the flock to plan for the future and obtain secular education to decrease eventual work hours and increase the compensation level?

Their interest is in themselves because they think that a bird in the hand is worth more than 2 in the bush.
If they can get regular meeting goers to give $1, that is better than occasional meeting goers who make more that can afford to give $10, but don't go or care enough to give that.

Why does God allow wickedness or suffering has the lamest answers, such as universal sovereignty.
If a human saw something bad happen to another human or animal, and had the power to help, humans would do it. No thought of government or sovereignty. But God doesn't help people in need.

Praying is a function of priests, not mediator. Prayers are likened to incense rising to God.
That is why we pray in Jesus' name. Because of his sacrifice he allows imperfect humans to be heard by his father Jehovah. I always liken it to humans praying sending the prayers to a satelite and that satelite descrambling the imperfect messages to Jehovah.
The new covenant is something that is totally unecessary and salvation and forgiveness can occur without it.

Villagegirl, there are many numbers in revelation that are not symbolic and are literal.
Rev 1:4 says 7 congregation. There are 7 congregations listed. count them.
Rev 1:16 John sees 7 stars in Jesus' right hand. in vs 20 we are told "The seven stars mean [the] angels of the seven congregations, and the seven lampstands mean seven congregations."
15:7 four living creatures gave the seven angels seven golden bowls
There were 4 and 7 and 7. Literally of those things.
And the number 144,000 is literal as John wrote "I heard the number of those who were sealed, a hundred and forty-four thousand".

They are not denying anyone anything.
The only ones who need a mediator are the ones who are to have something mediated.
Mediator means: aperson who mediates , especiallybetween parties at variance.
Why does everyone need a mediator when everyone is not a party at variance?
That which Jesus mediates is not salvation but the new covenant. Eveyone is not part of that covenant.
Everyone can get salvation through Jesus though. Salvation is provided by Jesus' priesthood, not mediatorship.

Carrying guns is said that it can lead to blood guilty if one is killed. But how can one be blood guilty for killing the guilty?
If a security guard killed Adam Lanza or the Aurora CO guy or any other shooter, that would not be blood guilty, that one would be a hero.
They praise ones who died in concentration camps. I'm not impressed. I am impressed by ones who killed Nazis. But then they say that those nazis could have studied, but how many Witnesses would have died by then.

i just replied to a thread about going to memorial and started thinking how after jesus started out no one talked about actually doing it after the initial time.

I don't see why people find fault with the 'two class system', maybe because they don't understand what the anointing is about.
Saul and David were anointed by oil. That means they were chosen to be kings.
There were 2 classes. The king and the ones who were not king. There could only be one king but in the Christian system there are 144,000 kings and they are anointed by holy spirit to show they were chosen.
The Levites were priests and they were anointed by oil. There were 2 classes. The priests and non-priests. People then learned to deal with it, to get over it if they were not priests. In the Christian system there are 144,000 priests working under Christ as high priest. Today people need to learn to deal with it, to get over it if they are not priests. In the Christian system, those same do both jobs of kings and priests. But why would one want to be one, back then one got more scrutany than the general population, same today. Back then I would rather live a quiet life on the outskirts, the same today.

by Julia Orwell ini've read a few people mention making up the figures for the field service reports, and i want to find out how common it is.
i never lied on my report.
sometimes i'd round up 15 minutes if i'd mentioned jw stuff to my brother that month, but that wasn't falsifying.

Sure, I do that. I started as diligent, stop watch by the minute. First door I took until the last. Then I figured that I was being penalized if someone else got the first door and was in for a long time so I started counting at the first house the car took. Then there are so many that have the "call next to the Hall" to get their time started. It just seems so fake. But in my last year of pioneering, I didn't even add up all of the hours and was less than the 1000. I decided that it was not important. There was this group of sisters that would go out together and stop and break for hours.
With there so much talk about obedience, I decided what if one is disobedient and didn't turn in FS reports. So I stopped. When the CO came, the secretary said to me that he didn't have my reports but knew that I was out as he saw me. So I just made up numbers to give him. The next visit I did the same thing.
Many would say it is dishonest. But it is not like it is a time clock and we are getting paid. Back in the Day, time was important because pioneers got meal tickets and literature discounts, but now that is not there. What do pioneers and Aux's get? meetings with the CO?
Do people really think that Jehovah notices or cares? Think about it!!!!!! Jehovah pays attention and is going to punish people for exaggerating their hours on FS report but hurricanes and tornadoes destroy towns and people go around and shoot many, does Jehovah know or care or do anything about that?
