if there are other jamaicans here, feel free to let me know.. with that said, it was announced at our last meeting (a letter was read) that the branch office (bethel) in kingston would be closing, and affairs would soon be directed from us hq.
now the branch office here is a large compound built on acres of prime real estate.

With that said, it was announced at our last meeting (a letter was read) that the branch office (Bethel) in Kingston would be closing, and affairs would soon be directed from US hq. Now the branch office here is a large compound built on acres of prime real estate. It's one of the most structurally sound meeting centers in the island, since when it was being built in around 1998 it was something many JWs have boasted about.
I had an opportunity to speak to 2 persons who have worked / lived there yesterday. They are both shocked beyond belief :-)
They are wondering what will happen to JWs who have spent many years there with little formal education, no financial plan in place, and high dependency on the org to provide everything for them.
I have inside knowledge that there was alot of WASTE was going on there. Poor energy conservation, over spending on lavish meals etc.
Some have already begun concluding that 'the end must be really close' for them to do something like that.
At this point I'm not sure whether a move like this is due to the society suffering financially, or just trying extra hard to rake in more profit.
Has a similar letter been read in your country recently? Let me know.

they tell jws to use the word "because" when explaining why they're at the homeowner's door.

by Oh Gawd innew guy here so i thought i would make a brief introduction.. my exposure to the jw's is indirect, as i have never been a member; however my wife of 22 years grew up in a jw household.
her dad is the grand-pooba or whatever level of "elder" you call it for his kh.
her mom, sister, brother, and their spouses all died in the wool witnesses.

Will The Noah Movie Wake Some Up to TTATT?

many jws on my facebook page are clamoring to go see it believe it or not.
others are pointing out the 'inconsistencies' with watchtower doctrine.. having something visualized and plainly layed out before you is useful when dealing with unthinking persons.. do you think that seeing it will help some jws to crtitically think about things they have read and glossed over?

Having something visualized and plainly layed out before you is useful when dealing with unthinking persons.
Do you think that seeing it will help some JWs to crtitically think about things they have read and glossed over? For instance, check out 1:25, where that mass of animals and insects are presented. I'm sure many haven't thought about the logistics of supposedly craming all the animals we know of today into one place, feeding them, cleaning filth, FEEDING CARNIVORES, catering to different types of diets, all done by 8 PEOPLE.
By the way, you should research Utnapishtim.

few, though, know about how not long ago it was considered a taboo.. first, there was that dc talk a couple of years back where they nearly demonized simply the ownership of a smart phone, ipads (i phones, blackberries, etc) let alone the use of them at meetings.
they brought out that they were a waste of time, expensive and that they exposed a christian to satan's world on the internet.

My impression is that the Governing Body, being the old, ignorant turds that they are probably just recently caught on to the rise of tablet usage, probably thinking at first that it was just a fad. Prices will continue to fall, more and more people will start to use them, and connect to the internet to cross-check what they are being told. How do they combat this? By 'embracing' technology.
The rhetoric has changed vs even 5 years ago. Using the internet was once a taboo, now the policy is: use the internet, but remember to only use our site for 'your own research'.
Phone and tablet use were taboo 2 years ago. Now the policy is: oh, you can use them, but make sure to use our apps and website.
They have made their own app for goodness sake. My prediction is that in the near future they will have hyped, Apple styled version releases. What's new in this version etc etc.
They cannot defeat Moore's law and the rise of technology. The best they can do is try to ride the wave of tech to push propaganda.
