  Recently my BS meter has been off the charts since noticing a change in local elder rhetoric over the last year or so.
  The change became evident shortly after an elder school. (Those long-ass, all day indoctrination sessions).
  Elders and ministerial servants locally keep on urging their fellow dubs to be ‘positive’; “keep a positive attitude in the ministry”, “engage in positive conversations”, “think about positive things”, “look at the most positive aspects of each Watchtower study”, “if brothers offend you be positive about the situation while you work towards resolving it”, “keep maintaining a positive attitude while working towards your spiritual goals”, “having a positive attitude helps make the truth more real to you”, “keep positive while you await the fulfillment of bible prophecies”.

  That pattern of speech has been noticeable in assembly and convention parts, as well as during a zone overseer visit.

  I’ve read books such as Napoleon Hill’s Think and Grow Rich, been to multilevel marketing company meetings, listened to self-help and wealth creation strategy speakers, and this sounds like the exact rhetoric they use; being positive about goals while working towards them helps to keep you motivated and makes them come about faster. Some even believe in a literal Law of Attraction; that incessant positive thought influences the universe around you and reacts with people and conditions to bring your goal to fulfillment with very little actual exertion on your part.

  the watchtower is hurting for cash, the circuit overseers are asking everyone throughout the industrialized world to donate their "valuable things" to aid the massive growth in areas where funds are not plentiful.

  the united states is covered with quarters and half-dollars on their streets, we just need to pick them up and put them in the donation box.. .

  there are many areas the watchtower can trim or cut costs to save money.

  I think they ARE! After all they are just MEN. The same way a group of elders will 'fight' for power, or be afraid to admit TTATT if they realise it, the same so with the governing body MEN.

  i have been studying revelation before i buy thinking about buying the latest ipad.

  however i cant quite pick is should buy an apple product given the apple in genesis is the fruit of good and evil.

  can i buy apple without condemnation or should i play it safe and go with android ?.

  A PREVIEW OF WHAT IS TO COME :-) (satire)

  The Genesis account tells of the first couple’s rebellion when they blatantly disobeyed the command: “ But as for the tree of the knowledge of good and bad you must not eat from it”. (Gen 2:17) Clearly, a fruit was involved in the first challenge to universal sovereignty. Would it not be an act of loving kindness, and a demonstration of our recognition of Jehovah’s sovereignty to not purchase non-food products associated with fruit? This would include products with logos in the shape or likeness of fruit, or with brand names containing the word ‘fruit’ or the names of fruit.

  Our mother organisation offers advice which aims to keep us spiritually clean in this time of the end. However, if we have doubts in our minds, we may begin to question the advice from the faithful and discreet slave on personal matters of choice. We need to then ask ourselves: Do I readily obey advice found in our publications about personal choices such as the brand of underwear I wear?If I like a certain brand of electronics associated with things Jehovah hates am I willing to throw them all away?

  Consider the example of *Steve, who later left his 2 Jobs to become a pioneer. Steve used to manufacture a certain brand of electronics which contained fruit insignia. His company was doing very well, but shortly after learning the truth his conscience began to bother him. Steve had become aware of the advice from the Faithful and Discreet Slave regarding universal sovereignty and fruit. Also, Steve enjoyed manufacturing and wearing comfortable, designer underwear which was Looming with Fruit designs! (See w13 5/15 Garment Pornea, How Can I Avoid the Snare?) What did Steve do? He prayed to Jehovah fervently, and more importantly he became an avid reader of the Awake and Watchtower magazines. The result is that he decided to shut down both of his companies and become a regular pioneer! No longer would he be giving the sovereignty to the devil, or promoting fruit fornication, but instead he would be glorifying his heavenly father, and more importantly the Governing Body every day! What a blessing he reaped!

  Today, our precision in worship can be compared to an Android. Many secular individuals recognise the efficiency of being robotic, rigid in performing tasks. Futurist inventor and researcher Ray Kurzweil once said: “As order exponentially increases, time exponentially speeds up.” Clearly, we need to be like Androids in this time of the end, without rest, without mistake. Doing so will make us reap rich blessings in the future from having gained Jehovah and the Governing Body as friends!

  The GB has magically reduced the hours sufficient for being an auxillary pioneer for March and April to 30.

  This is my take:

  It's a carefully researched marketing push. The governing body aka faithful and discreet slave, aka those 8 directors who seek to write the script to your life need a way to boost profits for their cash cow: the field service.

  More than likely they recognized March and April as the most profitable months due to the fervor of memorial season, both prior to and a little after the event.

  At the same time they need the ministry to look more attractive with the aim of increasing revenue through it, so they dangle the carrot of being an ‘auxillary pioneer’ by cutting down the hour requirement.

  The result: more dubs get duped into going out MORE for March and April, increasing donations, and thus injecting some nice, quick cashflow.

  Oh, the ‘increased hours’ looks good on paper too.

  PS: Many dubs will push themselves harder, and then yap about how blessed they feel after getting a rush of endorphins from the exertion and sunlight.
