  Left in '98, '99 or thereabouts. Was in CT. Never sent a letter, and to the best of my knowledge no announcement was made. Since then, just going where the wind takes me, for better or for worse.

  when i was in the borg, i had no idea of the stories my grandparents (both wwii vets) were telling me.

  now that i've done my tour, and can relate to some the stories that these 'weirdo war vets' have told me, i'm starting to get it.

  When I was in the borg, I had no idea of the stories my grandparents (both WWII vets) were telling me. Now that I've done my tour, and can relate to some the stories that these 'weirdo war vets' have told me, I'm starting to get it. Here's some thoughts... Most of what's done in the military is done to impress your superiors. If the response to what you've done is 'wow, that's hard core', or 'that's high speed', you can go home happy. Bear in mind, I am well aware of the emotional attachment that soldiers get to their comrades when they're in the shit. It's been well over a year now, but it kills me when I worry about my brothers in arms when they had to go back for a second tour. I got lucky and got arthritis. Why do WWII vets keep quiet about what they saw? They are truly the 'greatest generation'. I talked to a war vet not to long ago and he said that he has seen recently the same decency from the Iraqi war vets coming home. Something that resembles the WWII vets. Why? I love my grandpa (Pacific theatre). I just wish my other gramps was around to tell me other war stories (Battle of the Bulge). I was too young to understand. Makes me realize that what I've seen and done is so insignificant. All you vets, send me your war stories. I thrive on that shit. Depressed and rambling, Andrew

  i was driving along today and passed a church advertising some singing group that is to appear sunday.

  i thought, "man, i hate religious music.

  " it was the "always have" that caught my attention.

  in the early 70's at bethel, knorr spoke down at breakfast commented about a brooklyn heights news article then about jws, complaining that jws were taking over brooklyn heights.

  Will there be any competitive sports in the new system?

  since everyone will be young and in top shape, i wonder what sports will be permited, and will competition be permitted?.

  the williams sisters play competitive tennis, and that seems to be ok, but on the other hand, some young jw's aren,t allowed to play competitive sports at school..... .

  Wow, look at you, Richie Rich...All so grown up now...I got 7 bucks in my wallet that says you couldn't have done it on the inside. I'm twice your age but can't grow a beard like you. I'm jealous. At any rate-being a vet now, I'll be on the phone with my bro, a fellow vet. Maybe I'll go and actually see him. Or talk to my grandpa, a WWII vet.

  just the other day the headlines told about a home-grown terror net that got busted for trying to attack u.s. bases.

  they were not known to be connected with al-quaeda.

  i guess the press or somebody just "made it go away".

  i learned yesterday that a local co stated in his talk that comments at the wt study are to be from the page and nothing beyond, per brooklyn.

  i wasn't there - this may be merely anecdotal and i cannot verify it at present.
