i was wondering if any of you have read a book "visions of glory" by barbara grizzutti harrison.
as far as i know, it is the only book written by a woman about the witness experience.

On the positive side I think he does a good job of providing a qualitative description of the sources of stress and conflict in a JW life and gives good case studies to illustrate his points
This was the reason I believe that I posted positively about Bergman. I read some excerpts from his book on Freeminds, I think. However, I admit that I have not read the book, and I know virtually nothing about bergman.

but, i do have a question that i would really appreciate all of your input on.. it is no secret that young people are leaving jws faster and faster.
it is no secret that most jws are disappointed, and hurt by lack of prophecy fulfillment.. so here's what i was thinking: i'm going to post some very personal thoughts on what *i* think they need to do in order to stop the loss of almost 50,000 disfellowshipped and probably 4x that to inactivity.
Many good suggestions. However, Waiting hit the nail on the head. The WTS wouldn't be "special" without all their bogus teachings. Any time a religion forces it's adherents to their rules, there's going to be dissent. Even if the WTS demanded that we have sex every day and swap wives every thursday night.(note to self; start new religion)

Anyone that requires "payment" for the so-called "truth" is indeed a charlaton. MDS has been baiting, dangling carrots, and trying to entice people on this forum at least, for many months, if not longer.

I know you've put a lot of time and effort into your "report", but it just doesn't look right to try to create all this hype, then hold your hand out before revealing the answers. Did Jesus require monetary payment for his preaching? Did any of the biblical prophets? I would actually read it if you posted it or sent me a copy, but I won't give you the sweat off my b*lls for it.

I've often thought of the WTS as a modern day group of scribes and pharisees. The WTS often mirrors the mentality that was responsible for Jesus' and the apostle's persecution.

we all know for a fact that to the wts lies are ok, and spying does happen.
does anyone know of officially appointed wts spies, or do hard-core militant and/or plain old sneaky jw's just feel it is their duty?

No question in my mind why your asking this question and why claudia joins in. You probably spied on the org. for many years before you got your certificate so why ask the people here what they think of spies.

You have to keep in mind that the Society is referring to the "generation" age of 70 to 80 years. When they're talking about 1914(plus eighty years)then the end MUST be very close, like with a couple of years.
Yes, that last statement about Paul's missionary activity pretty much summed up all their predictions; that they have failed.
BTW, the publication I quoted from has many more quotes than the ones I provided.

I would say that anyone who has been harmed by the actions of the WTS
should get involved. I wasted 10 years, but I'm alive, I don't need counceling, I have my family. Any JW in a different catagory than mine, I believe should get involved. It's worth a try.

I understand what you're saying. Unless someone does a documentary or something of that nature, It seems that not much can be done. There are individual lawsuits I believe, but it seems they are hidden on back pages of newspapers, or on websites that the general population doesn't see.
