Can anyone tell me what's the big deal with "well oiled dishes"?All I know, Francois, is that it tastes great with "wine on the dregs".

i have seen references to the bible verses which describe saul's army, after a long drawn out battle, eating unbled meat.
often, i see this described as an action they took to keep from starving.
in my view, to infer this was done to keep from starving is just silly, and weakens the argument because it is so ridiculous.

i'm sure several here have posted and tried to be a thorn in the flesh of some of the jw-loyal forums on the net.. what was most effective?
if someone announced "i am an apostate and i think you jws are all wrong and i will prove why" do you think they would last very long?
to be able to do any damage so to speak, a careful masquarade would need to be maintained of being a loyal jw while stying to stir things up.. now, think of how anyone opposed to us 'opposers' would behave here .... would they announce that they are jws and they they were going to "set us all straight" ... or would they pretend to be an apostate ... pretend to 'help with the cause' but try and do more harm than good?.
Jumping in late as always . . .
The stance of a Watchtower operative would perhaps be primarily that of a lurker, jotting down locations, names, pertinent facts for future reference. . . If any innocent, naive sheep seemed to be straying into apostate waters, perhaps an open email would be discreetly utilized.
Opposition strategy would be carefully noted and incorporated into security considerations for assemblies and meetings. These could be introduced for consideration at the appropriate planning session.
No real WTBS operative would engage in dialogue or refutation in a forum like this. No fine soil here.

Border town clash sparks rights debate
By KAREN BROOKS
STAR-TELEGRAM BORDER BUREAUEL CENIZO - A clash between a teen-ager and a U.S. Border Patrol agent has escalated into a battle of civil rights in this scrappy border town, the only city in the United States with Spanish as its official language.
The confrontation between Tim Barton, 18, and Border Patrol agent Roger Muscate started when Barton accused Muscate of hitting him with his patrol unit, and Muscate said Barton threatened him and threw rocks at his truck.
The incident highlights years of bad blood between the former colonia and the federal agency in charge of stemming illegal immigration on the U.S.-Mexico border.
Whether Barton, the son of El Cenizo Mayor Flora Barton, is a criminal or a victim depends on who is telling the story. Either way, he has become a lightning rod in his hometown 15 miles outside Laredo.
Attorneys from Laredo and San Antonio are fighting for the dismissal of federal charges that could land him in jail for up to six years. Activists are raising money for the teen's defense. They claim agents overstepped their bounds and are now using the FBI to cover up civil rights abuses. And researchers in San Antonio and Austin are analyzing complaints and allegations collected from El Cenizo residents last year about abuses by Border Patrol agents.

just when you think your immune to the pain from family members shunning you get a surprise.
my sister hasn't talked or communicated with us for nearly 2 years.
in november my mom bought her granddaughter ashley a beautiful doll.
Venice,
I am sorry for the pain this thoughtless act has caused you and your parents.
In everyday life, none of us would refuse a gift from a neighbor, workmate or associate even if we held that person in less-than-high esteem. We would be acutely aware of the unnecessary pain that would inflict and simply accept the gift. What does that say about a belief system that generates THIS kind of abnormal behavior?

a few weakminded postates have posted pictures on this board of modern women they deemed beautiful.
huh!
if these folk were better grounded in the truth, they would know that since creation female beauty has greatly deteriorated.
Hi all:
This book is almost cartoonlike on a number of levels. Rutherford describes coal as falling from some sort of mineral belt in the atmosphere to various soil depths around the earth. With respect to his characterisation of women, it almost seemed as if Norman Leer were the ghost writer. LOL.

A few weakminded ‘postates have posted pictures on this board of modern women they deemed beautiful. Huh! If these folk were better grounded in the truth, they would know that since Creation female beauty has greatly deteriorated. Lest such “times of ignorance” be prolonged, let us read together a couple paragraphs from “Creation”, penned by J.F. Rutherford, pps. 79, 80.
Many poets and writers of prose have employed all the adjectives known to describe the beauty of women who lived when Greece was at the zenith of its glory and power. If the women of that time were beautiful, then the daughters and granddaughters of Eve were far more beautiful. We must remember that these women were only a short distance from perfection, as far as bodily charm is concerned. In the days of ancient Greece, however, the race had greatly degenerated; and in the present time the degeneration is even greater. It is only by comparison that we can now approximate the natural adornment of the women that lived on earth in the time of Noah. Like their mother Eve, these women were vain. Readily they yielded to the temptations that would gratify the desire of their flesh or the desire of their eyes, or that would appeal to their pride. They craved to be admired and flattered. Voluptuous and sensual, having their minds turned away from God and righteousness, they would readily yield to any influence that promised them exaltation or selfish gratification. That which appealed to these godless women more than anything else were strong men who flattered them and gave them praise, and who gratified their selfish desires.
Women have ever been the most beautiful and most dangerous amongst the creatures of earth. Her beauty and attractiveness allure man, and blind selfish man to higher and nobler things, and induce him to forget God. It was such seductive influence exercised by the charming Eve that led Adam to a criminal’s grave. A good and virtuous woman, wholly devoted to God, is a blessing to a good man, because she knows and keeps her proper place. But he who yields to the influence of selfish and ambitious woman walks in the path that leads to degradation and death. Almost all women of Noah’s time were selfish, sensual, and walked in the way of vanity. Beautiful and graceful of form, they were fair to look upon; yet, filled with pride, they had an excessive desire to be noticed and to be approved by men.

in the context of this forum, happiness at its core is generally defined in one of two ways: a) being a witness or, b) not being a witness.
most of us consider ourselves happier since leaving the organization.
because of a recent discussion between violetanai and marilyn, i've thought about it some more, only to reaffirm the truth i already discovered some time ago.
teejay,
I sincerely believe that your mother is happy. I have known many strong women like her who have raised families midst "trials and tribulations" and retained their confidence in what they feel the Creator has promised. Trying to put myself in her proverbial shoes, I could not be happy in the knowledge that my son was going to die at Armageddon.
Speaking personally, my facial muscles are more relaxed than they've ever been. I laughed this morning at 4:00 am when I saw that full moon filtering through the blinds, when my old Honda started on the first kick and when I hit that first stoplight exactly right. I am free to deal with each person I meet without an agenda to promote. I just listen, express my view and laugh. I laugh all day long. If I were laid back any further, I'd be levitating.
As for Mr. Ex-JW North Dallas: Prob need more info.

badwillie wrote the following experience about an ignorant comment from a do:.
case in point:.
a friend received a full scholarship from a local college to study to become a veternarian.
Room 215:
I did exactly that at the elders' meeting with the CO which proved to be my last ever, when I reacted to an order from him, (Floyd Adams, by the way), to ``back off and contact the Society'' whenever a JW facing a judicial committee threatens to bring in a lawyer.Raising my hand, I asked him whether a true shepherd would be expected to lay down his life for the sheep. Taking the bait, he replied in the affirmative. ``Then, if we're contemplating the removal of an immoral or dangerous person from our midst, why should we be deterred by any threat of a lawsuit? And if we were to lose any of our financial or other material assets in such a lawsuit, would we not regard it as suffering a loss for righteousness sake. Why should our fear of losing our material goods deter us from protecting the little sheep in our charge?
Much like the stereotypical dumbfounded clergymen of Watchtower lore, Adams turned beet red, and stammered something about ``well, that comes down from the District Overseer.''
Gerald Grizzle, District Overseer, was handling his portion of the meeting with the elders at the circuit assembly. He was discussing the need to honor the sensibilities of church people in our communities with respect to our dress and grooming.(This was in the 70's, just after the pants suit fiasco.) Grizzle said we should pay attention to how the parishioners dress for church in our area and dress accordingly. He was really stretching to find some sort of leverage on dress and grooming the Bible didn't necessarily provide.
Danny N., a younger elder, raised his hand and was recognized by Grizzle: "With all due respect, Brother Grizzle, SINCE WHEN do we allow Christendom to dictate OUR standards?"
Grizzle was visibly annoyed by that question and mumbled something about following precisely an outline from the "slave". All the power went out of his delivery and I recall he turned the meeting over to the CO rather abruptly.

does anyone really care what active witnesses think of them?
i ask, because on many of the ex-witness boards i see a lot of mention of what people think others say behind their back.
personally, i hope the witnesses think i am the devil himself and fear me upon sight of me.
Kenpo:
I now have friends with college degrees, good paying jobs, nice cars, and enjoy life. I stepped up in the world, what do I care what the guy who mows the neighbors lawn or cleans my toilet thinks. (Sorry it that insulted anyone).Ken,
Although your above quoted description does not sync with my values, I applaud your new-found happiness.
