So the final idea was drop it without warning. However the Allies did send a cable a couple of days before the first detonation demanding the unconditional surrender of Japan without any new reasons being given except the apparent fact that Japan would eventually lose the war.

Dropping the A-bomb a second time without warning also did two things:

1. It maximized shock value

2. It left the question open whether the US still had more A-bombs in their arsenal just waiting to be dropped

Well it certainly shocked Japan but that was not the reason they actually surrendered. They were still adamant to keep on fighting unless they could retain the Emperor as a true monarch. Turns out the primary reason for Japan's surrender was that Communist Russia attacked Japan in China and so doing declared war on Japan. So with that Japan was truly finished.

So to answer the question with my 2 cents: No it was not a war crime. Japan would have fought to the last man, women and child if Russia had not entered the war against Japan. The Allies had to minimize their casualties while still gaining victory. If Japan had continued the War as they were aiming to do, the US would have systemically nuclear carpet bombed them until the Japanese realized the truth of their situation.

Hi Suraj,

Pluto had not yet been discovered, and would not be until after Russell's death.

The 12th object is after Neptune.

As far as I understand it, a 9th planet was already guessed at in the late 19th century.

It's probably 3 of the largest asteroids such as Ceres, Pallas and Vesta.

Hi Max,

Thought of that because the extra objects are between Jupiter and earth.

But then each extra object is specified with a dot, so it can't represent belts of objects.

Perhaps specific asteroids???

Judges are viewed by the law and governments as temporary aristoi. Supreme court justices as permanent aristoi. Aristocracy has actually never left modern democracies, just taken a different form.

According to the Bible you can honor princes and kings, therefore standing is ok.

In 2007 I participated in an Amnesty International writing campaign protesting against Zimbabwe's ban of a prayer meeting and the resulting government violence against the assembly. To this day you can't directly snail mail Zimbabwe's government because they just don't process offending mail when they receive a slew of letters after a known human rights violation. During the campaign we had to mail the President of the United Republic of Tanzania to therefore indirectly put pressure on the Zimbabwe government at an international summit.

since coming out of the witnesses, i have gone through a transformation in thought and in mind.

i started with the usual: i thought that jesus was god.

then i investigated more about the bible and thought that the bible was not true, given the many contradictions, failed prophecies, etc.. then i investigated evolution and read lots and now i accept evolution and natural selection as things that are true.. now, i need to make my dad rethink everything.

Humans have 23 chromosomes,
All other apes have 24 chromosomes.

This would seem to show that humans are unique and therefore probably a separately created species.

Hooray for creationism.

However evolutionists would speculate that perhaps two chromosomes got fused together over time and over many generations.

So where's the hard evidence?

At the beginning and the end of each chromosome is a telomere. These are markers to indicate the endpoints of a chromosome.

If two chromosomes fused together you would expect to find a telomere sequence in the middle of the new fused chromosome.

Evolution in chickens:

1. Chickens have vestigial tooth DNA. In an experiment the tooth gene was re-activated during chicken embryo development and the embryos started developing teeth.

2. Also T-Rex collagen protein found in a T-Rex bone that broke and that was originally found by Jack Horner, reacted to avian antibodies taken from avian tissue indicating that it was a bird protein.

The above two points show that birds have dinosaur ancestry.

3. Dinosaurs with teeth ate meat. So either Dinosaurs were there after the flood when God commanded man and beast to commence eating meat (according to Genesis)...which means Noah carried them on the Ark and let them out on mount Ararat.

OR if dinosaurs ate meat before the flood it means the Bible in Genesis is fibbing when it says all animals were vegetarian: "...And to every wild beast of the earth and to every flying creature of the heavens and to everything moving ...I have given all green vegetation for food." (Genesis 1:30)
