Go Bag and Catastrophes

i live with my parents in law and yesterday, my mother in-law was very nervous about an email she got from the brothers in her congregation.

it was asking if she would be able to receive people over at our house should there be a catastrophe.

so, she asked me if i would agree with this.

the article is full of "jehovahs" but not once did jesus himself actually use the term.

In the book "Aid To Bible Understanding " WT/JW acknowledge that Jehovah is not the correct pronunciation of the divine name ,however they settled on using it because it was the most commonly accepted use and the most popular pronunciation of the day .

Or words to that effect.

And is the name / pronunciation of that name the "Gospel Message" that was to be preached in all the inhabited earth ?

i been seeing several experiences by jws who are waking up very quickly.

not years, not months, not even days-----but minutes.

it seems that all the hypocrisy of the watchtower is becoming more obvious to the members.

i am an atheist and i disapprove of the death penalty.

i remember michael dukakis, when he was a usa presidential candidate, saying i he was opposed to the death penalty - even for rapists and murderers.

I consider myself an atheist and have no problem with the death penalty when it is proven beyond any reasonable doubt about the guilt of the person charged with the crime.

Especially so, when they have killed more than one person.

Raising a teenager outside of “the truth”

i was raised as a jw and left the group as many of the teachings don’t align with my core values.

now, forward almost 10 years, my wife and i are raising our kids through puberty and i have to admit, this challenge is not easy and seems to be even more difficult in that my own upbringing was very different.

i find it hard to compare how i was raised with what i now must do for my own kids.

My teenage son of many years ago would argue that we are told that nothing comes from nothing.

And that a GOD who has no beginning makes no sense..

The elders would tell him not to overthink things as that would lead him out of the truth.

A good post SL ,it is also true that many non Christian religions and other philosophies have good moral principles to live by .

We dont need religion to be a good person with morals ,values and principles to live by.

i have to share.

i went to the supermarket last night and got one item.

I did not wish to have anything happen to her regarding her job but she just needs to learn better customer service.

I think that was the right thing to do minimus as we dont really know the circumstances behind what caused them to behave that way.

My D.i.Law who works in pharmacy tells me what crap they have to put up with customers sometimes that just makes their day turn to shit and they are still expected to be nice and polite to every customer , they are only human too you know .

Having said that ,I do know there are just some people not suitable to be dealing with the public as they have no people skills at all.

I`m not a fan of this type of { music ?} but I did like it as it was clever.

What was that movie I watched some time back where guys were competing against each other with this type of music / lyrics and I found a new respect for the genre ?
