  Why doesn't the wt discuss the real reason many partake?

  it has nothing to do about feeling chosen or ruling in heaven, but rather many feel it's a command for all christians, that by partaking you are accepting christ as their saviour!

  the 'last supper' wasn't really the first memorial, as there was nothing to memorialize as Jesus didn't die yet.

  I never thought of that .Isn`t that a thought worth expanding on ?

  About the covid-19 virus, some positive thoughts

  we are now well aware of the shit storm this virus has caused pretty much all over the world but there is going to come a time in the near future when it wont be such a heady news worthy concern.

  the reason being is that there are numerous clinical institutions in many countries that are now working on a vaccine, more so than any other deadly contagious virus in human history.. when mankind puts its brain on things usually come of it.

  when documented cases start to decline to a certain point governments will start to reduce their imposed restrictions availing people to get back to work, stores reopening , economies cranking up as they once were, normalcy will return.. it will no doubt be a slow restart but the vigor of capitalism will eventually return and this event will be left as a documented event in human history.. i do hope governments will take note of how this virus got started and spread as it did.. a sole person perhaps selling live and dead wild animals in a open public market in wuhan china , astonishing to think what that one person did to effect the entire human population of 8 billion all over the world.

  The 80 trillion dollar question is, will humanity learn something from it? Or will we just repeat the same mistakes when (not if) the next disaster occurs?

  Will the wet markets such as exist ed in China be banned ? Or will they re-open again once this has all died down ?

  If you haven`t yet seen the videos of the wet markets as they operate in China ,then do yourself a favour .You may never want to buy Chinese take-away ever again.

  am i missing something here ?

  how is it that where this covid 19 started , in wuhan china, china has only ,reportedly 83,000 for the whole country ?

  whereas in the united states of america the figure is just under 400,000 ?.

  The simple explanation is "where are you getting your numbers?". We simply cannot trust anything that China and the WHO tell us.

  The figures I used in the OP were from the John Hopkins map.

  That same map today reports :

  US , 466,033

  China , 82,924

  Are those figures not to be trusted also ?

  Or the better question where does John Hopkins get their figures from ?

  The World Health Org.? or Individual Govts / Nations ?

  How is china where it all started ,with so few, compared to the USA ,thousands of miles away where the USA have nearly 5 times that of China ?

  How can we really know the number of victims of this virus in China? Are they down-playing the numbers ?

  somehow the numbers just don`t add up .Who is looking into this ? The United Nations ? The World Health Organization ?

  Both the political and health agencies.?

  Just got a letter from a local JW

  a local brother has called on me 3 times in the last few months and has just sent me a letter ,.

  in the previous calls we kept it simple : i have'nt been to meetings for years ,don't believe in god now ,etc.

  touched on how i was appalled at how the org handles child molestation and they were quick to say that there have been problems but the governing body has it handled now blah blah.

  Well we did get a call from an old friend the night b4 the memorial however she never followed through with her stating she would ring back b4 the Memorial started .?

  She is in Qld and we are in Vic.

  Oh well che sera sera .

  if anyone voices an opinion with which i disagree or even detest, i can either debate it or walk away.. the last thing i want is for someone to be silenced by threats.

  however, it appears that some opinions on social media etc.

  which contradict the official narrative are being muted.

  Could anybody in the world non JW`s zoom in to the Memorial ?

  why i ask this is because the night before the memorial we had a phone call from a longtime friend who obviously is still indoctrinated ,to encourage us to log onto jw.org and view the proceedings ?.

  she made a big deal about how this has never happened before and that even non jw`s could watch it .. she was going to ring us up on the night to help us log in if we had any problems or whatever .. this friend is a bit eccentric to say the least and speaks against the elders at times ,sometimes i even wondered whether she was df or not ?

  so this ph.call surprised me somewhat ,and the wife`s attitude is she`s happy just let her be and don`t rock the boat ,she is about our age so just let her be ,we have had a lot of history with her and she still talks to us despite what the religion says.. but when the memorial was about to start no phone call and we haven`t heard from her since ?

  Not that I really wanted to but hey ,for old times sake ? Also the night b4 she could have had a few Chardys I suspect.

  Because the Cong.we were in was not backward in having a drink or two or three.

  Covid 19, is this the WT new push to bring back ex JW's before the end of the system?

  not sure if this was covered as i could not find anything on it but talking to my son he tells me one of the gb had a talk telling them this is a sign of the last days.

  have the jw's being pressured into talking to relatives and friends to bring them back into the fold before the end of the system blah blah blah?

  the reason why i ask is my son was saying his mother has being on his case the last few weeks and then two days ago i got a telephone message from my sister, that hasn't spoke to me in 4 years, asking how i am doing.

  I remember the JW religion denigrating the Catholic religion for using the threat of Hell-Fire to keep their members in fear of going against the R.C.church ?

  Is there really any difference with what the JW religion does with how they handle their own members ? Fear of the Great Tribulation ,fear of Armageddon ,fear of everlasting destruction at God`s hand.?

  And you might add , fear of disobeying the Governing body of Jehovah`s witnesses.!

  My D.I.L.was informed by her mother ,her father died this morning.

  heard of her fathers passing this morning.both her parents and siblings have shunned her for over 22 years.. about 1 week ago her mother notified her by e-mail that her father had cancer and was not expected to live much longer.of course they had known for a long time that he had terminal cancer.. last week my d.i.l.

  did ring her father and spoke with him.. the only other time they contacted my d.i.l.

  Thanks for the condolences friends, there is no way she could attend the funeral if she wanted to as the state of NSW separates them .

  I`m proud of my D.I.L. as she puts her own health on the line as a pharmacy assistant every day.

  About 1 week ago her mother notified her by e-mail that her father had cancer and was not expected to live much longer.Of course they had known for a long time that he had terminal cancer.

  Last week my D.I.L. did ring her father and spoke with him.

  The only other time they contacted my D.I.L. previously was to tell her, her grandmother whom she had a good relationship with had died .

  She has never been DF nor has her husband my son, ever been DF ,they just decided the religion was not for them hence the shunning .

  And they both could tell stories about her siblings leading double lives .

  These people have no natural affection and are just so cold blooded.

  As a JW i could never see me acting the same way they have.Words fail me .
