I just wonder about this topic as it is now 109 years since that date and what was expected to take place has never happened .

May 28--Four years since Dateline's JW sex abuse program aired. Results?
by AndersonsInfo insunday, may 28, 2006, is the fourth anniversary from when a threshold was crossed into uncharted waters.
on may 28, 2002, the u.s. television news program, dateline, publicized to millions of viewers the facts about watchtower's deceitful child abuse policies which protect pedophiles who target and molest jws' vulnerable children.
subsequently, this subject caught the interest of media throughout the world who, through careful investigation, substantiated the allegations made on dateline.

So this Dateline program was first aired 21 years ago this month May 28 2002 ,thank you Barbara for first bringing it to our attention all of those years ago as it is still relevant information today.
Maybe Dateline should now do a follow up to see what has changed, if anything ?

What`s the reason some of you think JW`s are in decline ?
by smiddy3 infrom what i can see no such thing is happening.i became a jw in 1960 and remained for about 30 years and the numbers of active jw`s today in the world are far greater than they were back then.. and here in australia the numbers are much higher than they were back then .. so i don`t see that their in decline or have any worries about losing support .. don`t the numbers speak for themselves ?.
is it just wishful thinking on your part ?.

I just looked up my old place of residence of when I was a JW in the early 1990`s when there was 5 Congs.and 2 KH`s ,now their is only one KH with 2 congs attending as far as I could tell.
So I guess that says a lot .
History of Jehovah's Witnesses in Australia: Jehovah's Witnesses have been active in Australia since 1896. At present there are 798 congregations in Australia with over 67,700 Jehovah's Witnesses.
I can`t remember how many their were when i became baptised in 1960 ?
I left in the early 1990`s
I just googled 1975 and it said there were 71355 JW`s and 739 Congs at that time ?

My old congregation is being shuttered
by RULES & REGULATIONS ini just found out from my jehovah's witness cousin that my old congregation is being shuttered due to lack of elders, less than 20 members attending, and that the congregation cannot meet their monthly expenses.. here is a congregation that was started in 1975 with less than 15 members.
it grew to 185 members in the 1990's.
the congregation grew so large that the elders decided to split the congregation in two.

Shunning.
by LostintheFog1999 inwith so much being said about the jws shunning policies again at the present time i thought it would be worth reposting this article.. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/pmc9803876/.

I`m of the belief that when they shun you it`s their loss not ours.

Normal people don't give a darn if you're a witness
by XBEHERE inthis was posted on exjw reddit, check it out if some of you never have.
https://www.reddit.com/r/exjw/comments/13q6k5l/normal_people_dont_give_a_darn_if_youre_a_witness/ .
i find this to be the case, people in general are so not interested in religion that they really could care less about jws.

I left school when I was 14 and started work and was still in the same job when i was converted because of a workmate when i was 19-20 yrs old.
I had a few more jobs before my last employer ,never held back that I was a JW and never ever pushed the religion on anyone and never had problems with other workmates or any of my bosses, even though some were religious themselves,
I retired when I was 68 and was able to buy my own home where i still live with my wife of 63 years .
I`m 84 this year .
As the title of this thread says ,I didn`t know anything about JW`s before I was contacted and never even heard of them until then.

A New List of the J Versions and Where to Find them
by pizzahut2023 inhi!i am doing a very long and exhaustive study of the "j" versions, based off the new study edition of the new world translation:https://www.jw.org/en/library/bible/study-bible/appendix-c/divine-name-new-testament-2/.
this list has about 300 sources, mostly bibles, that the jehovah's witnesses have used to "justify" their insertion of "jehovah" into the new testament.i am doing an excel spreadsheet of where to find digitized copies of these j versions and then some notes on them.. they contain some really interesting renderings, some that would make a jehovah's witness's head spin!for example, in j29:the original aramaic new testament in plain english (an american translation of the aramaic new testament), by glenn david bauscher, seventh edition, australia, 2012which you can find here:.
http://buffaloriverforge.com/peshitta/nt%20peshitta%207th%20ed%20plain%20text%20unnoted.pdfin luke 2:11 it says:.

And what does that make them ????

JW Dogma Analysis For Lurkers & Faders to Consider
by The Fall Guy inthis post is necessarily lengthy, but my hope is that these 14 examples of wtbts dogma will be examined closely by those who either have something to gain by doing so, or those who can provide "new light" for any of the topics.. "however, you may say in your heart: “how will we know that jehovah has not spoken the word?” when the prophet speaks in the name of jehovah and the word is not....true, then jehovah did not speak that word.
you should not fear him.
" [the prophet] (deuteronomy 18:21-22) .

Anybody like to abbreviate this post key points to help others still trapped in the borgs so called "New Truths" shenanigans.?
The fact that we are now living in the year 2023 should wake up a multitude of old timers that the GB of JW`s dont know, and have never known what they are talking about.

To All Those Keen To Tell Us About Their Beliefs
by Simon inwe seem to have had an influx of religiots - the people who want to tell us all about how we / the wts / whoever are wrong, wrong, wrong about everything and how right they are.
they obviously have special insight, or voices (probably voices, right?
) telling them the real truth.. as proof, there is inevitably a wall of random scripture references and quotes.. sorry, but we're not here for that.
-
smiddy3
Isn`t Simon just talking about other religionists who want to voice there opinions and take over the discussion here ?
“ The site isn't here to host your bible diarrhea, so please don't bother - you're just going to be wasting your time.”
Or have i got the bull by the tale ?
