I have the Lighthouse, haven't watched it yet. If it's an "Oscar" type film, that's usually a clue that it might be a pile of utter shite (artsy BS).
I think that just about sums up my opinion of "lightHouse "
yes, folks, it will soon be that time of year when obscenely wealthy actors, script writers and directors will collect their oscars and give little thank you speeches, strangely working in social commentary and/or extinction rebellion propaganda.. i know it's a huge back-slapping exercise that many people (including me) find off-putting.. but, there is one nomination that i've got my eye on and hope will win its category.
its nomination is for best cinematography and the film is the lighthouse (2019), directed and co-written by robert eggers.
i haven't seen it yet but it's on my 'to see list', as i really liked eggers's previous (debut) film, the witch (2016).. i'll definitely buy the lighthouse when it comes out on dvd.

the governing body of jehovah’s witnesses have approved the formation of an additional management corporation for jehovah’s witnesses in australia and the formation of a new audio visual production company.. on 11 november 2019 a new jehovah’s witnesses company, “kingdom support services (australasia) limited” (kssa), was registered in australia to “promote throughout australasia the advancement of the christian religion as understood and taught by the ecclesiastical governing body” and to “co-operate with or provide financial assistance to persons having similar aims and purposes and to other charitable organizations having similar aims and purposes within australasia or elsewhere”.. the structure and charitable purpose of kssa allows it to provide benevolent disaster relief (‘financial assistance’) to victims of the current bushfires in australia, albeit limited exclusively to “jehovah’s witnesses [who] practice their religion under the spiritual direction of the governing body”.
as of january 2020, the jehovah’s witnesses branch committee in australia, under the direction of the governing body, have formed two disaster relief committees to provide spiritual and material help to bushfire victims in australia that meet the religion’s criteria.. two days earlier, on 8 november 2019 another jehovah’s witnesses company, “avs productions (australasia) limited” (avspa), was registered in australia to “record, produce, publish, and distribute or dispose by way of gift music, photographs, film, animation, and other intellectual property of a religious or charitable nature”.. both new jehovah’s witnesses corporations have registered with the australian charities and not-for-profit commission (acnc) as religious charities.. despite the audio visual and animation production objects of avspa this new corporation also claims to “support members of the worldwide order of special full-time servants of jehovah’s witnesses”.. these two new jehovah’s witnesses companies join the new and controversial management corporation, christian congregation of jehovah’s witnesses (australasia) limited (ccjwa), which was formed on 12 april 2019 to administer congregations, congregation charities, and bodies of elders.
and also to “support members of the worldwide order of special full-time servants of jehovah’s witnesses”.. ccjwa, despite being registered as a not-for-profit corporation with the australian securities and investments commission (asic), is yet to be approved as a charity by the acnc.
the structure and charitable purpose of kssa allows it to provide benevolent disaster relief (‘financial assistance’) to victims of the current bushfires in australia, albeit limited exclusively to “jehovah’s witnesses [who] practice their religion under the spiritual direction of the governing body”.
Both new Jehovah’s Witnesses corporations have registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profit Commission (ACNC) as religious charities.
So they acknowledge here that their "charity" is only for the benefit of Jehovah`s witnesses in good standing as determined by the Elders in each congregation and approved by the Governing body in America /Australia ?
Am I reading this right ? And if I am ,isnt that discrimination against other people in need under these same circumstances ?
Is it even legal for a charity to discriminate in this way ?
Its a huge difference how other religious charities operate here in Australia , the Salvation Army ,Anglicare /Church of England , St.Vincent De Paul /Catholic ,just to name a few who do not discriminate who they give aid and assistance to .
They feed and clothe the poor ,provide assistance for people who fall on hard times regardless of how they ended up in that predicament ,food parcels ,accommodation ,Aged care facilities ,hospitals ,relief for those addicted to drugs and alcohol ,etc ,etc ,all without passing judgement on the individual but are there to provide help and encouragement for these people.
As well as victims of domestic violence and even victims of sexual abuse .
Help is there for all of these people and more by these institutions .
I think they fit the bill of being called Christian
Jehovah`s Witnesses should be ashamed of themselves. They dont come within coo-ee of being a christian religion.
I hope their application for charitable status is rejected as it should be.

I hope your not too disappointed with lighthouse ,I was.
i have just got of the phone with a relative complaining about the convention venue.
as far as my relative is concerned wt can do no wrong, so for him to say what he did it must of been bad.
the venue where the convention was held was described to me as a “tin shed with no air conditioning”.
Its just little things like this that start cracks appearing in what you believed was the absolute truth ,hopefully a few more cracks his eyes will start to be opened ,the scales fall off and the rose coloured glasses will be removed .
You never know.
in february, oxygen will premiere a two-part documentary about the jehovah’s witnesses in which a journalist who has spent five years looking at the group alleges “an abuse story that has layers of coverup.”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8wy4qx7lraa.
Thanks for posting that video annihilator , it looks like it will be an excellent expose of the religion .I am looking forward to seeing it .
I`m just wondering how big an audience is covered by Oxygen TV and how we can get it out to an even bigger audience if need be ?
are any of you aware of this new documentary that is coming out in february?.

About 4 months ago I alerted people on here about an oxygen Tv program of a man who went by the name Yahweh Ben Yahweh in the USA .
I will look forward to see how they do this 2 part ? series on the JW`s.
Thanks for the heads up DA Lady2
Annihilator , has also posted this with a video teaser and it looks by all intent and purpose to be an excellent expose of the religion .
I just wonder how big an audience Oxygen TV has and if need be how we could expand this coverage to an even greater audience if possible.
amber gives a superb talk here.
i couldn't help but contrast her delivery - fluent , articulate , without any notes - not even a rostrum or podium to hide behind - with the numerous talks and items i heard when i was a jw.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e7wfpaqcqcw.
i am reading her book " leaving the witness " just now - it is superb - i just can't put it down.
Yes it was Amber Scorah in the article of The believer,if you will do a Wikipedia search you will find heaps of info about her.

War is futile alright > we bomb the shit out of them and then when we win we go about building their country up again and in the case of Germany we bomb the shit out of them again and again go about building them up again.
Look also at Japan ,and Vietnam ,just to name a few.
I want to see the movie Beneath Hill 30 ? ( is that what its called ?) about the miners digging their way into history.?
when the doctrine regarding 1935 being the close of the calling was done away with in 2007, it was not unexpected to see the number rise.
over the next few years it went from around 8,500 to 10,500. this seemed to indicate that there were a couple of thousand people that may have felt they had the calling all along, but too shy to profess it.
for the 30 year period between the mid 1978 and 2007, parktakers had barely dropped.
I personally know of 2 that has reached my ears .Both of which have been associated with the religion for many years and are probably now in their late 50`s early sixties. And both are female.
I suspect 2 or 3 others that I know.
Personally I think its tied up with being tired of hearing the big A is just around the corner and have opted to claim to be of the anointed expecting to die before the big A strikes .
