  i recently began reading strobels "the case for faith" and in chapter two wlc repeat his refutation that "extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence".

  his argument is as follows: .

  this standard would prevent you from believing in all sorts of events that we do rationally embrace.

  Lotteries: any set of numbers is equally likely to be drawn as any other set of numbers. So the set {1,2,3,4,5,6} has an equal chance of being drawn as the set {39, 27,4,12, 10,17} or any other set you can think of. The odds for drawing any one set of six numbers from a forty number pool are 1:3,838,380. Nothing extraordinary about it.

  You cannot calculate the odds of a resurrection. You cannot calculate how accurate eyewitness testimonies to a resurrection are.

  If you want to believe in the resurrection of dead people, that's fine. Just don't try and prove your claims using maths. It makes you look very silly.

  that flood that according to the bible was several meters higher than everest (note noah and everything on his boat would not be able to,breathe at this height) apparantly didn't do that much damage to civilisations in world history...... funny that?

  No, of course it didn't happen.

  The wts clinging to the literal truth of the flood account was the first thing that started me wondering about the veracity of the bible.

  For a good summary of all the geological evidence against against the flood read "Telling Lies for God: Reason vs Creationism" by Ian Plimer. Plimer, a professor of geology, examines all the geological evidence that proves there was no global flood. He examines all the claims made by people like nowwhat (above) and exposes them as completely bogus and without a shred of scientific merit.

  it has been found out that most egyptians wear them based on the paintings found on the pyramids.

  Ok Julia - their isn't two scientific sides battling it out on either side of the Darwinian divide as you say. There is a scientific side that uses solid reasoning backed up by observation and experiment on one side, and superstitious nonsense on the other.

  If, as you claim you have studied evolution, then you need to have another go. Your comments reveal that you have failed to grasp the simplest tenants of evolution.
