this probably means that you wont make it.

Does anybody still believe in God and the Bible?
by tornapart ini just want to know out of interest how many here still believe in god and christ and that the bible is god's word.
my faith in the wts is gone but i still love god and his son.
i've noticed that many here have lost their faith in god as well as the wts.

OTWO,
Great post! I too dislike the word "lost", to me that is like saying you "lost" a tumor you had removed from your body.

WT Flip-Flops on Jesus Inspection Was it in 1918 or 1919?... Did the WT PASS or FAIL?
by Alfred inthis is utterly ridiculous.... .
the more i research this particular subject, the more flip-flops i uncover.
it seems the fds cant even make up their minds regarding what happened in 1918 (or should i say 1919?).

I know this goes back a page or so, but since I have been mentioned in this thread I want to say something.
When I first discovered my grandfather's letter on Marvin's blog, I'll admit I was a little taken back, but after giving it more thought I came to this conclusion. I posted the letter here because I felt it needed to be seen by those interested in such things. I could have kept it in a box in my garage, and kept it to myself. But why?
I'm glad Marvin picked up on it and publicized it. I have a couple others on here he must have missed as I think they deserve a spot on his site as well.
FYI, I am presently going though boxes of old stuff from a family who some may classify as hoarders who were involved with this organization from the early 1900's. It is very overwhelming. If I come across any more interesting stuff you will see it here. The last thing I want is to see an old letter tossed in the trash by someone uninterested. I suspect at this point that a scan posted on the internet will perpetuate it. That to me is a great thing.

Divine Flan of the Ages - Recipes for Disaster [with thanks to Punk of Nice!]
by ziddina incrap..... now i can't think of anything... .
uh, wait a sec..... take one young upstart greenhorn clothing store magnate who reads the bible and has tons of arrogance and self-righteousness.. marinate him in a "doomsday" atmosphere, such as a "second-day adventist" environment, until he's thoroughly loopy.... carefully extract him from that stew and place him carefully in a special echo-box surrounded by yes-men,.
throw in a few "end-times" dates, and let the whole mix simmer, occasionally adding a few suckers - er, followers, until the end time runs out - er, the timer runs out..... let him stew in his own juices, exposing him to a hot kitchen warmer as the embarrassment of his false predictions puts heat on him.... then bake in an oven of heated public opinion, due to his scandalous behavior towards an underage girl and his very public divorce.. serve with half-truths and contradictions.... next up - baked rutherford steeped in whiskey - gin - wine - beer - and whatever else you've got, that's alcoholic!!.

I think we have it backwards
by lrkr inyou know how when people come out of being a jw they say things like- but the bible is a good book- its just the religion that is bad.
or when describing muslim extremists commit some atrocity, people say- the religion is bad- but the koran is a good book.
or when you observe orthodox jews abusing members of their family- it is said- its the religion that is confining and doent allow leaders to be held accoutable- but the torah is a good book.. i think we have it backwards!!

The Crux of the Matter For Me
by MrDarkKnight init has been very interesting and beneficial reading the posts and comments of everyone on the board since i joined back in june of this year.
the recent efforts of mankeli have made me consider exactly what it is i have issue with when it comes to the teachings of the wtbs and jehovah's witnesses.
i have stated my background before: 38 years in the organization, 10 years at bethel in responsible positions, 15 years an elder with circuit and district responsibilities and parts on circuit and disctrict assemblies, a former member of the hospital liason committee and a presiding overseer for 5 years.

For years I have said that 607 is my main issue. But really #4 deserves that spot. How absurd indeed.
Great thread BTW, it really lays out the main issues in a few short paragraphs.

I think this paragraph is all important and always ignored by believers. Thanks for posting it Qc.
The Fall myth is the entire basis for the Atonement myth that followed in the NT. The disgusting idea that butchering an animal would pay for breaking religious rules , I.e. that something else living can be forced to act as makeweight in a divine court of justice allowing the lawbreaker to continue Scott free, reaches is most immoral and shocking climax when expressed as human sacrifice. Why so many cultures seem to favour this immoral practise is a subject for another thread but it is a sign of a retrograde culture that makes up a supernatural need to murder someone else.
Shades of Grey, thanks for the honesty. You wanted to believe in Jesus so you found a way. I suspect that is the case with most believers. I personally base my beleifs on reality no matter where it takes me.
