  Do you recognize the Truth? Watchtower July, 2024

  the stated focus of this study article is.

  focustraining ourselves to discern the difference between the truth we have learned from jehovah and the falsehoods promoted by satan and our opposers.. of course, the article goes on to claim that the truth is not only in the bible, but also from the watchtower organization.

  Reminds me of:

  Bible study conductor praises new student for researching and checking out what he is being taught is accurate.

  The minute new student is baptized as a jw he is warned/threatened NOT to do that anymore!!

  I was really disappointed - I thought he was going to discuss brother johnson from bethel in 1917 from the 1973 yearbook who was crooked and fled bethel via a drainpipe!!

  Next morning at six o’clock the Bethel family awoke to sounds of violence. A banging and pounding and a final thud gave evidence that Johnson was not a man to be restricted by a door wedged with a sizable chunk of wood. Cronk warned Johnson that, though he could go to the bathroom if he wanted, he could not have things his own way. Cronk mentioned that a police officer had been up to see Housden the previous night, though no mention was made of the reason for the visit.

  So Johnson paid a visit to Housden’s room. But Housden, shaken by the events of the night, would not come out or even converse with him through the door. Johnson began then to share the worry that was clearly afflicting Housden. Desirable as he once regarded these premises, it now appeared to him to be time to leave, and that without delay.

  He returned to his room, one flight up, and dressed. Leaving his baggage open, he went out on the balcony overlooking Craven Terrace, climbed the balustrade and hung suspended for a moment before working his way down the face of the building.

  As the front door of the Bethel was open, some might have thought there were easier ways of reaching the street than the way Johnson chose, and they would have been right. But had Johnson chosen the easy way, the milkman that morning would have missed a sight that made his day, that of a silk-hatted, frock-coated city gent, feet shod with rubber overshoes, shinning down a drainpipe.

  Super Duper Awkward

  did anyone else find the teen section on the meeting tonight massively cringeworthy?

  i saw two kids who will be laughing stocks for life after their world wide exposure.

  complete exploitation in my opinion, unforgivable..

  Worldly girls didn't seem to mind my JW background throughout my entire school career .

  There was a time I had two girlfriends in school and one in my street at the same time.

  I did find being a JW in school and 'turning the other cheek when ridiculed' incredibly difficult/impossible.

  When in high school I went round a corner and bumped into an elders daughter with a fag in her mouth, a worldly boyfriend on her arm, she was swearing at him like a trooper.
  

  She begged me not to report her.

  As I fought anything that moved and had a reputation of being one of the schools best bare knuckle brawlers, despite being an elder's son, I assured her she had nothing to worry about from me on that score.

  Thank goodness he has trustworthy people like yourself around him too.

  I don't know the circumstances that brought you both together, and how you found you could confide in each other, but I bet redsetter is extremely glad to have you in his corner.

  Prediction: no more changes for a long while

  i’ve noticed a pattern where things don’t go the way i expect them to go and/or whenever i realise there is a trend and, i mentally adjust for the idea that the trend will continue, the trend stops in its tracks.

  so on that basis, and given many people, including myself, and active jws, have been asking ‘what changes will the governing body make next?’ perhaps the (disappointing) answer is: ‘nothing much for a while to come’.

  maybe they’ve made the changes they want for now, and will wait a while and see how it’s received.

  The finances and contributions interest me.

  Do young ones today contribute much as a group to the watchtower?

  When I was a young regular pioneer in the 1980's I donated nothing.

  I figured that I was already giving them 90 hrs plus month free labour as a pioneer, working on numerous quick builds for free and working on my own kingdom hall's maintenance for nothing.

  All this while holding down a low paid part time job while many of my friends worked full time and had lots more money for cars, clothes, holidays, meals etc..

  So I would be interested today to know how much young ones give to the borg?

  when i was in my prime, there was a time when i was surrounded by beautiful young women!.

  but i managed to escape before any of them managed to land a punch or kick me..

  But I was a regular pioneer and didn't want to get married until I was 30 - what was I thinking!!!🤦‍♂️👍🤷‍♂️
