The stated focus of this study article is

    FOCUS
Training ourselves to discern the difference between the truth we have learned from Jehovah and the falsehoods promoted by Satan and our opposers.

Of course, the article goes on to claim that the truth is not only in the Bible, but also from the Watchtower organization.

The first of two qualities needed to discern truth is -

    FEAR (of Jehovah)

The article says that having this fear makes us eager to learn between truth and falsehood.

It also talks about having fear in God, rather than men. This, as does most of the article, has nothing to do with the stated 'focus'.

The second quality needed to discern truth stated in the article, is -

    HUMILITY

    Comments under this quality include

Being prideful could lead us to consider our personal opinions to be just as valid as Scriptural principles and direction from Jehovah’s organization.
Jehovah will help us put his thoughts, which he provides through his Word and his organization, ahead of our own.

That's it folks, that's how you identify the Truth

This is an interesting paragraph about changes

We can maintain our confidence in Jehovah’s organization. When it becomes clear that an adjustment is needed in our understanding of a certain Bible truth or in the way that the Kingdom work is organized, those taking the lead do not hesitate to make the necessary changes. (Prov. 4:18) They do so because, more than anything else, they want to please Jehovah. They also do their best to base their decisions on God’s Word, the standard to which all of Jehovah’s people must adhere.

As expected, there's no discussion here between previous and current teachings, between truth and falsehoods.

Instead, it says that they are not hesitant in making the required changes but why does it often take months or even years to do so? 'Not hesitant', they must be joking. They know there are so many untruths in the literature that have not been changed.

They also say that they do their best to base their decisions on God's Word and acknowledge it is the standard to which we all must adhere.

The fact is, they don't and won't acknowledge that their best is not good enough but if you don't like it, you've just got to accept it.

It's a matter of whenever they want to make a change, they'll turn to the Bible and see what they can use there to back that change.

This article isn't about Truth. It's all about when someone is not okay with their decisions (even when it doesn't accord with the Bible), they are not being humble or that they don't have fear of Jehovah by not accepting the direction of his organization.

Other than one scripture, there was nothing explaining how to identify between truths and falsehoods.

It's one thing to be stating that God brings forward Truths and that Falsehoods are from Satan. The problem with that idea is that there are falsehoods in the organization (that's part of being imperfect and fallible) and there are some truths coming from Satan (Wolf in sheep's clothing). They are not willing to teach followers how to discern the differences.

For believers of the Bible, they were right in quoting Psalms 2:3-6 which tells us it is a hidden treasure that we need to keep searching for and it is from God, nothing about an organization there. JWs would rather be spoonfed than to do the searching.

Moreover, if you call out for understandingaAnd raise your voice for discernment;b 4 If you keep seeking for it as for silver,cAnd you keep searching for it as for hidden treasures;d 5 Then you will understand the fear of Jehovah,eAnd you will find the knowledge of God.f 6 For Jehovah himself gives wisdom;gFrom his mouth come knowledge and discernment.

I guess the noble minded beroans were not humble for daring to check Paul's words were compatible with the scriptures.

Funny how they never quote Jesus when he said, "I am... the Truth".

They treat Jesus like he is little more than an errand boy who simply delivers prayers to his Father when you say the magic words: we-ask-all-this-in-Jesus-name-amen.

Being prideful could lead us to consider our personal opinions to be just as valid as Scriptural principles and direction from Jehovah’s organization.

Seems to put the Borg's direction (which they said could be in error because they are imperfect) right on par and equal to Scriptural principles. Evidently™ the warning about being prideful only applies to us but not to them.

Even though they've been wrong about everything for over 100 years!

On the other hand, I guess that means that one can be very confident that, based on that track record, they are still wrong and likely will be for the next 100 years.

    Reminds me of:

Bible study conductor praises new student for researching and checking out what he is being taught is accurate.

The minute new student is baptized as a jw he is warned/threatened NOT to do that anymore!!

nowwhat....The reference to Berean Jews in Acts serves the exact same purpose for the author as the WT comments about having an eagerness to accept what they say and their interpretation of scriptures, as they are speaking God's 'thoughts'. The reference to 'searching' the scriptures is not suggestive of careful contextual critical analysis but the process of following along with the proof texting and becoming convinced of this new take on the verses. This eagerness to adopt the new interpretation of the scriptures, shared by the writer of the book of Acts, is what earned these characters the flattering description, 'noble-minded'.

In both the WT and Acts what is encouraged is eagerness to accept how the church leaders interpret scriptures.

But in the days when the book of Acts was written, had they already witnessed a century of false predictions?
