'i am perfectly happy on christmas day to say merry christmas to everybody,' dawkins said.
'i might sing christmas carols - once i was privileged to be invited to kings college, cambridge, for their christmas carols and loved it.

The initial question reminded me of when I worked for a really nice family of Jewish Tailors and retailers with about six shops a long time ago.
They went a bundle on Christmas trees, lights and decorations in all their shops.
They knew I was a JW back then but didn't seem to mind.
I asked them how they felt about Christmas as Jews (as obviously JW shop owners couldn't decorate their businesses with Xmas stuff without an instant visit from the elders)-
They said IT'S ALL JUST ABOUT THE BUSINESS AND THE MONEY FOR US!
They were nice people. Very honest, hardworking and good to their staff.

I just looked over some of the recent comments he actually allows to be published on his 'Lloyd Evans - The Aftermath' upload.
Even those who are reasonably positive and offer fairly constructive comments are treated to quite caustic and smug replies from Lloyd...

by Athanasius inthe watchtower's many legal problems and the jws' use of carts in their preaching work, reminded me of a scene and dialog from the film patton.. in a scene where patton is viewing a battle site the morning after, he says to an aide about the nazis: “you know how i know that they're finished out there?
in my dreams i saw the carts.
they kept buzzing around in my head and i couldn't figure out why.

FDS 1919 Declaration Date
by NotFormer indid rutherford have any "prophetic" justification for 1919 as the date that jesus declared him (ahem, the wt organisation) the fds?
such as some calculation attached to 1914?
that in 1919, jesus would come looking for his true organisation?.

by MissDaSilva ini already have a friend who is trying to tell me that my mental health is causing my disillusionment with the jehovah’s witnesses.
funny that a mental health therapist has told me my mental health issues are caused by being a jehovah’s witness.
i’m still not going back.

Whenever any jw tries to help you/lead you back into the cult just politely say 'Thank you very much for your help/advice."
It means nothing. They feel as if you are taking their advice and also stops any further attempts to coerce you.
If they do persist, just say "Once again, thank you very much for your advice."
When they report back and the elders ask what your attitude was like, they will have to say, "A good attitude, they even thanked me for my advice."
This hopefully will stop the elders beginning a full scale witch hunt against you, buying you more time to fade away..
(Just my advice on what has helped me totally fade without much bother for many years now.)

Hip replacement on Monday. Wish me luck.
by GrreatTeacher inas the title says i'm having a total hip replacement on monday.
the pain has grown over the years and now i'm using a cane to walk.
after steroid injections and physical therapy, it was decided that a total hip replacement is appropriate.

Sorry to hear you are in pain GreatTeacher and I really hope the operation is a success.
Haven't had the op, but a few clients in work have over the last few years.
They've all come out of their ops well.
Two guys I see very regularly aged 69 and 78 are now back playing golf regularly and say the op was well worth it.

Where is everyone? 😆
by MissDaSilva ini had a day off today and needed to get some errands done in my local town.
2 carts have allocated here but i never ever see anyone out, even on very nice days.
70% of the congregation don’t work.

I ponder that too. When I was in I constantly met people everywhere from the congregations/ circuits/districts I knew.
Now I see nobody - perhaps they see me first and avoid me....😢😢😢😂
