Did Rutherford have any "prophetic" justification for 1919 as the date that Jesus declared him (ahem, the WT organisation) the FDS? Such as some calculation attached to 1914? That in 1919, Jesus would come looking for His true organisation?
Or was it purely because he was released from prison? And therefore he pulled a complete extra-biblical doctrine out of his butt?
It was the 3.5 year thing that they came up with through some obscure reasoning. End of 1914 plus three and a half years was the beginning of 1919.

Malachi 3:1-3 mentions an inspection of the spiritual temple, followed by a time of cleansing. But the justification for the year 1919 can be found in Revelation 11 and the prophecy about the "two witnesses".
It describes a short period of 42 months when the "two witnesses preached in sackcloth"
(from Autumn 1914 to Spring 1918). They were then symbolically killed (by imprisonment) but were brought back to life in the early part of 1919. This is discussed in a Question from Readers in WT November, 2014.
They now only give seasons even though 1260 days or 42 months is more specific.

Those men could not have guessed that it would take less than a year to establish that their imprisonment was a gross miscarriage of justice. The WTS claim (not shown here) from Oct 1914 to April 1918 the two-witnesses preached for the 1,260 days. Then in July 1918 when they went to prison that was the wild beast killing them and then in March 1919 when they got out of prison that is them being brought back to life after 3 and half days.
WTS did good math with Oct 1914 to April 1918 because that is 3 years 6 months like the 1,260 days but when it comes to so-called being killed for 3 and half days, that turn out to be 8 months, July 1918 to March 1919.
Next thing is that the beast that is said to kill the two-witnesses, the WTS says it is the UN. Problem is the UN did not exist in 1918. It did not come about until 1945. The League of Nations was not even around in 1918. That didn't come about until 1920 according to the WTS.

So how did the UN/wild beast put the 8 men in prison in July 1918?
And why is the 1,260 days 42 months/3 and half years, but the 3 and half days are 8 months?
Thanks everyone for filling me in on this. The 1919 date always seemed a bit odd to me, if it was connected to 1914. A difference of five years isn't a very biblical number; it's always 7 or 3.5, in those prophetic passages that the WT loves. That they stretched out the 3.5 makes sense, in a warped sort of way (to me, it smacks of desperation). It's nice to know that they at least tried to create a (albeit tenuous) connection with something biblical. 🙄
It's all about 1919 for the WTS. If they lost that year, they lose the so-called appointment of being appointed the F&DS and they don't want that, so they have to keep lying about the rest of the years that they used to arrive at 1919.

A contributor on here Jeffro had a Web Page that was very easy to understand, plus a good number of Threads and comments on here.
It is vital to appreciate the error and nonsense of 607 BCE, as then the whole Tower of Lies falls, like a House of Cards.
No 1914 = no 1919 "choosing" = Today's G.B are self-appointed Charlatans ! Which means their opinions on anything are just that, the opinions of deluded fraudsters.
* When I was just "waking up" I used to long for 1914 to be totally debunked, I was shocked to read C.O.Jonson's Letter to the Org. from before he wrote his Book, explaining the 1914 error in such detail they could not mistake the import of what he said, I thought to myself "They knew all along it was wrong ! They still know, but carry on conning the J.W's and the Public ! What Liars !".
