i recently had a conversation with an old acquaintance from the congregation i used to attend.
we talked about the recent changes in the 2023 annual meeting.
i especially pointed out the one about getting rid of hourly reporting on monthly time slips.
Those posts are so moving when you think of the complete waste of quality time and life these ones could have had.
The heartfelt apology from the governing body about these massive policy changes on reporting time will go a long way to appeasing these lifelong rank and file jw's...
Oh, that's right, they are not going to apologise for any changes they make and they are not sorry for the wasted opportunities and lives their pathetic reporting system has perpetuated... .

Yes, for me too, all these recent changes pale in comparison to the “overlapping generation” teaching. What on earth was that? I genuinely tried to understand what they were saying but it hurt my brain.
Yes, I've watched a guy on youtube called Robert ring elders around the UK and ask them to explain the overlapping generation to him biblically - they literally all squirm, get defensive and then refer him to the jw website - it's hilarious and embarrassing and pathetic at the same time!!
in the 15 october 1995 watchtower the society brought out 'new light' that although christ sat down as king in 1914, but he did not sit down on his 'glorious throne' mentioned at matt 25: 31 in that year.
i cant understand why the society bothered to make this change in 1995?
this change was in some ways more damaging to them than the generation change, because the society essentially sawed off the branch they were sitting on by announcing this 1995 new light.

I just assumed he closed it to try and hide his assets ahead of a divorce.
A former elder in one of my previous halls went off with a sister in the kh.
He was a wealthy man with a thriving business and lots of property.
He claimed though that he lived in one of his own very humble, modest apartments and he did not have much assets/money in the bank to his name at the time of his divorce.
Strangely, just a year or so later he was living a very salubrious property in a well to do area with his business suddenly thriving again.
Last I heard he and his new partner were attending a kh near his new house to try and create a new life for themselves together...

My friend and I once stopped a nun on streetwork back in 1983. She was very friendly until she realised we were jw's.
Then she snarled that we were the biggest charlatans and false prophets the world had ever seen.
