Having to report field service hours makes the average JW accountable to the organization for the amount of preaching they do. That serves to motivate JWs to preach. If no one was keeping track of the amount of hours then the JW preaching will quickly fizzle out. So JWs are not preaching in the power of the holy spirit. They're preaching in the power of accountability to an organization.

This is NOT the religion I was raised in. This is so far removed from the 1980's that is basically become an Apostate parody of itself. If you could hop in Doc Brown's time-machine DeLorean with an iPad filled with this current GB's nonsense (Splane's Generation chart, anyone?) and go back to the year 1984 and show a Congregation of JW's what 2024 is like, they'd run your ass right out of the KH, probably throwing old green bibles at your head.

sometimes things don't come across the way the speaker intended.. years ago there was an ad by the whitegoods company fisher and paykel.

I personally think if we don't recognise the borg now, in about five years it will have become totally unrecognisable.
I believe every major change they make is 100% for legal reasons.
I remember in the 1970's they announced that:
'Sister Smith has been reproved. She spent the night with a man in Green Street. Although inappropriate petting and passionate kissing ensued, no actual sexual intercourse took place. Sister Smith has been scripturally admonished and has shown signs of sincere repentance.'
I always feel if we didn't live in such a legalistic world the org would absolutely love to be able to still make announcements like this as and when they desired.
They can't act like that anymore and are legally stymied from being the total, controlling and dominating extreme high control religion they would like to be..
