hello all, i came across this forum after trying to find an old childhood friend of mine but had no luck.
i have lived in rhode island my whole life and i'm not a jehovah's witness myself but he is/was years ago.
i remember being about 11 years old and wondering why he couldn't come over my house and didn't understand it then!

facebook comments of my wife and friends are making me sick ... literally.. "great reminders" "loved it" "just what we needed" "love the way jehovah works" "very encouraging" "get better every year" "best convention ever" "what a boost".
what did i miss?
have i become a wicked fault-finding apostate blind to the encouragement?.
Hi wannabefree,
First of all, let me give this hug, seeing as how it not during a prayer
(((((((((((((((wannabefree))))))))))))
You have to stop attending conventions and meetings because now that you know the WT is nothing but hogwash and a cult and that it's followers MUST believe that the WT is not hogwash or a cult, but truth.
I know others who tried to keep quiet and their own physical and mental condition sunk lower and lower. The ONLY time they stated to get better is when they stopped attending meetings and WT conventions.
I don't know if your wife knows how you feel, as I haven't read your background yet. If you don't think your wife can handle the truth about HOW the WT comes up with and passes changes it's teachings or anything else you know about the WT, just tell her you are taking a break from all meetings to have time to think. Don't tell her any negative things yet, and that'll give you time to plan on a way that'll make her think and open her eyes.
Whatever you decide, I would think about your own well-being first. Because you cannot keep on the way you are. It is not good for your health and I mean that!
I wish you the best and stay strong!
In time, maybe you can ask on your wife's facebook page or your own, that JWs explain in their own words what the "gereration" is and then list all the evidence that backs their explanation. Who knows what answers you'll get!

just setting the record straight.
there is another thread that notes a claim on wiki that said that ray has died.. he had a stroke yesterday, and is in the hospital.
he is still alive.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Ray and Cynthia.
Thank you so much for the updates, coffee_black!

i've been out 15 yrs and never attended again.
anyone been out a long time and for whatever reason went to a meeting or convention?
what was it like to you then?
Hi Think About It,
I left in late 1979, and attended a two part ( two Thursday nights) meeting in 2002 to tape the instruction from the WTS to it's followers on how to treat Disfellowhipped and Da'd Relatives.
I didn't go to the same KH I had left, for it's now a church for a different religion. I went to a KH in North Attleboro MASS.
It felt really good to go to the kingdom hall dressed in jeans and a flannel shirt! :-)
It was absolutly sickening and one of the the "brothers" who stand in the doorway to greet you actually acted embarassed that we were there, as "potential converts", for a meeting discussing to never even speak a greeting to family members are df'd or da'd. Included was how to treat disfellowhipped CHILDREN.
When the meeting ended and we were trying to rush out the door, he told us that we should come back on a Sunday when they have the "good good talks"! Those were his exact words!
Other than that, the examples that were "acted out" on the stage were the SAME as they were in 1979. A "sister" was up on the stage as a JW at the door step of a householder and talked about inflation and how bad the world is "today" and went on to offer a Watchtower.
One little boy kept STARING at us, for we must have looked like aliens to him because we were wearing jeans, ( I attended with zev, BTW). His mom had to keep telling him to turn around and face the stage.

for those who haven't seen the video yet on youtube of ciro's ( a bethel speaker?
) sick talk given in, i believe, 2007, i provide the link:.

Hi Thetrueone,
The talk is REAL, the video to go along with it was made to go WITH the talk. That was a real talk by Ciro A in 2007. His talks always seem to "spill his mental illness" but JWs attending his talks just don't see anything wrong with it!
Here is another talk by him back in 2001, so you can here his voice (no video though).

I find BOTH talks very disturbing. Anyone can tell he is mentally ill. WHY the Watchtower allows him to share such sick garbage is beyond me. I can only imagine the nightmares people AND children have suffered from listening to such sick filth.

Hi all!,
For those who haven't seen the video yet on youtube of Ciro's ( a Bethel speaker?) sick talk given in, I believe, 2007, I provide the link:

Right at the end of the talk he says, :
"The Tribulation is almost upon us. It is not a time, friend, to think that because the society published a change in generation that Jehovah God, the great Theocrat, took his clock and moved it back, because some ants printed a Watchtower down there. Oh please, friends! We should not have been dealing with generation in the first place. It's none of our business. Did you ever see the apostles talk about generation? Didn't they have opportunity there? Not once did they mention generation, did they? Then we have no business doing it."
The latest change of the generation brings me to believe that the ants who print the Watchtower just don't get it!

anything at all???
?.
Yes! I got to see zev/harold 3 times a week!
And I can honestly say that is the ONLY thing I liked about being a JW.
I hated going to the meetings otherwise and I really hated having to wear nylons ( which made my legs and thighs itch to high hell) and those stupid wrap-around skirts!

gwen
i know, i know... some of ya'll are gettin' sick of this "generation" thing... .
but for whatever reason, i had not seen this actual quote from the dc talk (that or had not paid much attention to it until now).
seeing it in print really brought home how desparate they are to try to hang on to 1914 in whatever way they can.
Just the "two groups of anointed" gets me going!
How many "groups" and how many "separate and distinct classes"will there be among JWs in years to come? And how many times will JWs continue to say that have no class distictions in their "group" ? One JW I know claimed that JWs believe in the ONE HOPE spoken about in the Bible, and corrected herself only AFTER I showed that the WT does ,and has for YEARS, taught that there are TWO HOPES?
Now it seems that the WT may refer to "two groups" whenever they speak about the "faithful and discreet slave class".
I can hear it now. One will be the "modern day faithful and discreet slave class of our day"!
Happy you brought up the "generation" again!

don't try to lie about it.
you accept some of these people as an authority.
you listen to them.
Hi Terry,
I never knew that mind over matter was considered to be "supernatural nonsense" to anyone.
I ,personaly , am not a follower of any of the above mentioned people.
I'll have to search what mind over matter REALLY is. Maybe it's not what I thought it was.
Still learning something new everyday!
Thank you for your post!
