There is nothing wrong with make believe..I was told about Santa as a child but quickly figured it all out and it didn't affect me negatively..Now being told that someday we will all live in a paradise with animals resting at our feet and we will live forever ,that is a cruel fairy tale..

I would teach the Santa idea was started to help motivate people to share with loved ones and those that are in need..Santa is represented by a jolly fat happy and hard working loving man..and he has a good wife and helpers..

the funeral was held today for my sister when every opportunity was used as a sales pitch to promote their malignant message, in this case to any non jw's that may be present, just like any other pyramid scam it seems.. the person whose funeral it is just has a minor bit part to play compared to the main feature , the promotion of the all encompassing multi-talented multi-tentacled wts that you can rely on to guide misguide and pervade every nook and cranny of your life including when to die.. and why not, because as gods only prophet to all mankind, they don't just hear gods voice, they are gods voice.. ***watchtower 1957 june 15 p.370*** "it is vital that we respond to the directions of the "slave" as we would to the voice of god.
I too am sorry you had to endure that..I had to sit through it at my JW hubby's memorial services..I wanted to scream out how ignorant they were..

i've had a goal to drink my first alcohol this year and i decided that i would take the plunge while in my hotel.
i chose a tiny bottle of jacob's creek and retired to my room.. i had two sips and had to stop.
seriously vile.
How can anyone think being drunk is fun?...
So not worth the buzz..
I tried it when I was in my 40's and got over it real quick..now i only drink for the taste..I think I might have had a beer or a glass of wine a year or 2 ago..

well this is great, i have just come off the phone to the police in tamworth staffordshire about this damming wt, and they say it's already known to them.
we have been told to contact pc 14..... tomorrow and to expect a call from the diversity unit and they will need to call round to gather evidence regarding the wt mags calling us mentally diseased..... .

i just can't get into it.
in years past the inlaws have made an effort and given a little party but now we are out country its just not a big enough deal to be bothered with.. no presents, no cake.
You must always do at least one special thing for yourself on your birthday..it's in the ex JW's laws..

I think Lady Lee is doing her job. Looks like she did a lot of research. I do however think that starting out a paragraph with "What kind of scam are you running" may have been a little too harsh?
I am sure it was posted on the board instead of an E mail was out of concern that you may try to contact the members in private and ask for funding.
You also can't expect perfection on a Ex JW board as many have been hurt by the org and family mambers and come here to vent and hopefully a friendly pat on the back and a hug..they aren't concerned with surveys that may or may not get media attention. So you have to bear with them and not take it personal.
I am glad you are doing something constructive and hope it works out. I have to admit I am a skeptic like Lady Lee but have seen lately where the media has been paying attention to what the ex JW's have to say.
Best of luck in your survey and don't give up. You have to expect that some may not be as enthusiastic towards it as you may be..and may be skeptical. Fearing exposure is a valid concern of some here..you have to respect that.
Also if the mods allow one person to ask for funding the board would slowly loose it's purpose..Many have complained about this in the past and may be the motive for Lady Lee's addressing the issue as she did.
