hello all.... some of you have been following our story from the beginning - and even those of you who haven't should be able to relate to my quandary.... last week my 14 year old son told me he no longer wants to be a jw.

we laboured over telling his jw dad all week.

well, on friday night he finally came clean.. but in a bizarre and unexpected twist, after having sex with his girlfriend for the very first time - in his father's home that very afternoon.

The child has too much time on his hands..he isn't being kept busy enough. I find that true in almost every case of a child having sex/using drugs or alcohol at such a young age. Too much freedom and the parents always working to provide the necessities that they just must have. The child is often left to fend on his own as he is considered old enough to take care of himself. Well this just proves they can't at that age..their brain is not finished growing..they are unable to see anything in the future. They want it now.They can't make important decisions as they aren't mature enough yet. They still need guidance..and supervision! They need to be active in caring for their home, volunteering, cutting grass, sports, anything to keep their minds and body occupied..and too tired to get into trouble! If a parent has to work they should make some kind of arangements for the child so he is not left alone on his own to be bored to the point they resort to having sex to amuse themselves..teach them to be productive in other ways... Encourage a child to have goals and to stick to them..and point out the consequences as realistically as possible..let them watch a neighbor/relative baby..overnight or longer (with a parents supervision)..sit down and go over expenses with them and show how important an education is and how he/she should set goals and what will happen if they fall away from these goals..the low income forever, the substandard living..the constant worry about finances..

i thought this was rather amusing, maybe in my own mind.

i was just getting ready to leave my house with my brothers and a jw walks up to my door.

pride and prejudice abound in the watchtower religion.. i go to the assemblies and it becomes very clear that the speakers are so proud of the fact that their religion is the one true religion and that they are so much better than the other churches out there.

the amount of pride i heard coming from the platform is astounding.

astounding still is the fact that they cannot see it themselves and at one point in time, i could not see it either.

I was just the opposite..I always felt there was just something not quite right about the religion even tho I gave it a fighting chance for 15 years. I just saw how strong every one else felt about it and thought I would eventually be that way too. But really , who could believe the things they teach as truth? Common sense tells you it just can't be right..

I really believe the Bible is past history. I also believe it has been messed up and picked and changed so many times to fit the religion that is using it that you can't trust the majority of it to be accurate..

As someone pointed out the JW religion started out on a whim so to speak by uneducated men. They studied the Bible and interpreted it to suit their teachings..each religion I feel has done that. I do think that all religions have a little truth to them but I also feel they have a lot of fairy tales to them..in other words..I believe maybe a tenth of what they say. JW's included.

It is up to you to decide what you can believe in/can accept and what you can't . But at least you owe it to yourself to feel comfortable with what you have..if it be a JW so be it. If not move on..it's your choice and no one elses..and when you make your choice don't let anyone talk you down for it..it's your life and you owe it to yourself to live it the way you see fit for you!

It's Mothers Day and JW's Are Out In Full Force

the jw's make a concerted effort to get out in the field service magazing peddling work just to shit all over your day of celebration.. i was out getting mothers day flowers for my roomie this morning, and saw literally gobs and gobs of jw's working the area.. .

happy mother's day to all you mothers :).

He gave me a stern frown and invited me into the Second School "for a little chat". Got raked over the coals for daring to quote the bible question anything drooling from the feable-and-incontinent-Slaaaaave class.

How utterly pathetic that you're not allowed to honour your mother if she's unfortunat enough to be a Witness. Well, the only positive thing is when I go into work tomorrow and everyone asks about what I did for Mothers Day, I will tell them exactly why I didn't do anything, and watch them recoil in horror that any religion could possibly be that pathetic and idiotic."

My adult daughter was telling me today that one weekend 2 witnesses knocked on her door early in the morning on a weekend. Well she gets up real early to go to work all week and likes to sleep in on weekends..they knocked once and she figured they would go away..well they knocked again , louder..she was getting pissed..when they apparently saw her peek out the bedroom curtain they opened the screen door and banged on the main door..that did it..she flew to the window and thru it open and cussed them out..she said one lady jumped and looked terrified.. My daughter said, they have a lot of nerve..banging on my door like that so early in the morning..(9am is early to her on the weekends) I was ROTFL. She said she needs a

"No soliciting" sign..I filled her in on that one..

How is it that well educated and financially stable people become Jehovah's Witnesses?

when i was growing up most of the jws around me were poor and lower middle class.

some were middle class, but very few were upper middle class.

only (maybe) about 1% were college educated.

Of the two that comes to my mind , the husband of one ws a control freak..he insisted his house be imaculate at all time even tho they had 2 children. She decided to pioneer one month and would get up at 4 am to do housework..he eventually joined because he liked the fact he could continue to boss his wife and kids around legally so to speak..

The other couple couldn't have children and were heartbroken..they were given the hope of having children in the "New System".

Come to think of it many either had controlling husbands or couldn't have children..do I see a pattern in the 50's and 60's?

Adopting was really hard to do in those days..

Edited to add that there were also those that had many kids and were just looking for some kind of hope..relief

ex why zee, you just reminded me that I had always taken my parents for granted..then one day in grade school at parent teacher night a fellow classmate came up to me and said "Your mom is so beautiful and your dad is so handsome..I had never even thought about it before..I had to agree.. After that I looked at them with different eyes..

What's the most dumbest/petty thing you've heard of someone being "stumbled" over?

- some loser once took offense that i hugged a sister goodbye at a leaving do and ran back to the elders like a little child telling on me.

i was 15, this sister was in her 40s at the time.. - this elder said someone told him they saw me with a copy of the sun newspaper.

yes, this paper is known for its 'page 3' topless girls but far from pornagraphic and i wasn't even thinking along those lines.. - one brother who had a good job was 'counselled' because he was actually able to buy himself nice things including a new car (shock, horror!!

My teen kids at the time were told to NOT hang around the black witnesses kids in public or have them over to our house because others (JW's included in that others) may not understand and get stumbled into not wanting to be a witness . It was OK to do at the hall and assemblies tho..

Pissed me off royally. I thought ,"What a bunch of hypocrties hiding behind religion . Using that for an excuse for their own prejudice.." I never thought for a moment that it was because they were afraid we would stumble someone.
