What Privileges do you get when you are baptized ?

my husband was baptized at the recent 2018 convention in south africa ....... he was very annoyed that his non-believing wife did not attend the baptism....... but i think he received pressure from his jw father & elders as to why his wife was not attending ....... anyway ..... it's really water off my back .

i wanted to know what privileges you get as a baptized jw man , as i saw a message from one of the elders at his cong , congratulating him on his baptism and to earning more privileges ..... what are these privileges the elder is speaking about ,,,,, .

i don't feel like asking my husband as it just lands up in a stupid fight ..... or a long winded explanation ..... thanks .

@ Darknight ..... He WILL pressure you to study with him because it will be expected of him to have regular “family worship”. Don’t give in!!

He has tried LOL :) but thank goodness I am as stubborn as a ox ..... the rules in the house are , u leave your religion at the front door & the children are off limits till they are old enough to decide for them selves ........ the kids do not go to his side of the family unsupervised at all & no Jdubs allowed in my house ....

And if he doesn't like it he can Leave ... which we all know they are not allowed to get divorced ...

@Freddo : My husband grew up in a JW household , but when we met 11 years agohis family where not practicing JW's not sure why they stopped years ago ..... I only found out he was from a JW family when our son turned 1 (conceived out of wedlock & same with our daughter ) , as I wanted to invite his family & they wouldn't attend .... he said he wanted nothing to do with the JW religion , cult etc ... call it what you like ..... that was before we got married ....but low and be hold 3 years into our marriage his whole JW family started to go back to full time JW's ... his father was made a ministerial servant etc & his uncle was a Elder ... So here I sit with the shit show of this cult .....

Over eating v over drinking

when i was in, i couldn't understand why the subject of over eating or gluttony was almost never discussed, there was countless talks and articles about over drinking but over eating is lumped in as the same offence in the bible but was never discussed?

an elder who was serving in the islands told me he heard a talk given by a local in the cong there who professed that "in the new system we can eat as much as we want and not get fat".

so why was /is it not talked about?

Well my JW Husband and his entire JW family are all obese , so much so that his mother can hardly walk .

His Father drinks like a fish & his mother drank so much that she had a stroke a few years ago & know suffers from Short term memory loss .....

Both his sisters are FAT and they blame it on having children .....

His brother is large & his sister in-law is as wide as she is tall & as lazy as a sloth .......

My Husband says he eats cause of stress ....

Yet the funny thing is my husband has told me many times he would never Date or be married to a fat person WTF....

But hey they can do as they please crazy bunch .......

i guess you can be physically out, like in a huge way, but definitely mentally in.. serena williams claims she won't be celebrating her daughter's first birthday.. i did know people like that, raised as a jw but never actually baptizing.

that didn't mean they were not messed up in the head though..

JDubs are so annoying really , lets choose what we want to do & not do ......

Both my Jdub Sister-In-laws have kids out of wedlock & nothing is said about that .....

But let me celebrate any pagan celebrations & I get the beedy eye from them all .....

God let them crazy people see my Tattoo's or let me light up a cigarette & my JDub husband gets a talking to from his Ministerial Father/Elders about keeping his wife under control ......

They are all a bunch of Fools :)

perhaps even those who are just lurking or visiting here but have not yet signed up.

maybe you are in the initial stages of researching and finding out the earthshattering and life changing information about the religion that you once held dear and called “the truth”.. it can be a very stressful period of time as you realise that your whole foundation has changed and that the people in your life that you call friends or family may not take kindly to the things you have discovered.

I don't know how to cope with all of this :(

I'm married to a JW man , he went back to practicing JW and our lives have been turned up side down .

This morning we had an argument and he packed his bags and said his not coming back cause I don't respect him or his religion .

My poor children have been through so much , how are they going to cope with this & I don't think I have the strength to cope with it all anymore . Everything is my fault he keeps telling me and he is doing this for his bible standards .

Such a sad and ugly religion why would he turn his back on his marriage & put his children through the heartache of it all......

Fear of the worldly people.

yesterday, i had a conversation with my neighbor during which i explained the greatest reason why i wanted to raise my kids out of the jws: the fear (which translate to hate) jws have for everyone showing no interest in becoming part of their group.

in order for him to quickly relate to what i meant i asked him to imagine, for a moment, he was the biggest racist he has ever known, forced to live in a black neighborhood.

how would you feel?

I am in the process of leaving my JW husband , it just ain't that easy when you have two other little children with this crazy JW man.

My 13 year old son is now staying with my Gay sister & her Girl friend & is happy to be with them & away from this cruel , narcissistic JW man . His Biological Dad & I agree that this is the best option as his biological dad stays in another city and my son wants to stay with my sister & doesn't want to change schools & be far away from me & my family .

The reason I will not just pack my bags and leave is cause I need to protect my other two children( 7 year old & 4 year Old) from this Cult . I also need to make sure I have all my ducks in a row before I just move on . In this day & age it's very expensive to get divorced & very expensive to run a house with 3 kids as a single mom. But my main reason is I feel that I need to protect my children from this cult , from this man and me living in the same house is better than just letting him do what he wants cause I'm not around .

So I have chosen for now to just be strong and make sure all my children are safe from this cult .

And yes it's a terrible thing anybody can do to a child & everyday I need to pull myself out of bed and be strong for my children and put aside my guilt , resentment & heartbreak I feel , cause my children are my life.
