Ive become a new person. Thats the only way i can put it.
I see the family who shunned me a decade ago as strangers and i see a few of those awful worldly people i was warned about as my family.
The worlds not such a scary place afterall.
And this site and its residents are amazing.
I joined posted a bit and went quiet. But i shall be participating more now.
i know of three situations i saw myself.
the first one was when i lived in arcadia.
all the people i use names on are dead and gone so no probs.

My sister who shuns me is a lesbian and her partner is her "room mate" i know this as a fact.
Both pioneers both still struggle to cover bills!

i've been thinking about the changes we make within ourselves after leaving the wts cult.
i'm not referring to how we spend our time now that we actually have some, but who we have become, or working to be?.
the gb carries on and on about "stripping off the old personality and putting on the new one.
Shortly after being disfellowshiped and subsequently homeless at a young age i was saved by everything i was taught to hate.
A man in his 20s, smoked,drank, smoked weed,swore, road a harley... took me in. He showed me kindness i never thought possible. Especially from such a worldly man ;)
It taught me i can be who ever i wish and still be kind.
i have recently been disfellowshipped (after being reinstated in march).
i saw a group of jws gathered in the town car park yesterday.
they seemed startled when they recognised my car and talked amongst themselves giving one another a satisfied grin!
If its just to prove a point then here is what i would do.
Walk in to the hall 15/20 mins early, happy smiling, greeting your brothers and sister as you walk to find your seat, dead front and center.
If asked by an elder to meet them in the second school ( is that still a thing) kindly decline as your happy where you are. leave at the end, as normal happy and fufilled with spiritual nourishment.
Show them that thier authority dosent exist.That the disfellowshiping actually means fuck all.

in other words, if one of your elders noticed you were carrying concealed, would they be apt to just ignore it or would they counsel you on it?

you make VERY valid points. if you MUST attend a kingdom hall your probably a target anyway. and anyway.
Assumuing your half decent at concealment and keep things to yourself no one should even notice!

As above the stripping of "privilages" but id feel pretty ok about that if i was you!
My old job demanded i very overtly carried firearms ;). but i was already DF by that point!

do you remember that my dad passed away last year and i was going back to the witnesses after 26 years?
i got reinstated after going there for 9 months.
in the 5 months since then i felt the men in the congregation didn't want me there.

As for the disfellowshiping, they did you a favour. the way they clearly bullied you stinks but is of no suprise to you here.
