Troubled teen? or pretender?
by wasasister inlast night in chat, just as i was about to log off and go to bed, a person unknown to me came in.
i did not recognize the name, so i introduced myself.
with me in chat was another new person, who identified him/her-self as a 19 yr old da'd person on the east coast (us).. after the initial introductions, the new person stated he/she was a therapist working with a troubled 15 yr old witness girl who wanted to quit the religion over the objections of her mother.

Be afraid...be very afraid...
by fodeja infrom http://www.greatcrowd.com/159ubb/forum22/html/000167.html.
he gave us some statistics about how much the occurrences of random violence have escalated over the recent years, and it's terrible.
something like 99% of us will be exposed to, or become a victim of a violent crime.

Abaddon,
That was an excellent summary of the arguments used by both sides of the gun argument. Sadly, most Americans won't listen to a word you said because their minds are as closed on this subject as a JW is toward "apostasy." Besides, gun owners have all this anecdotal evidence where somebody blew a mugger's head off, and that proves that gun ownership reduces violence...

Rick seems to think there really is moderation over here; he just can't accept the reality of the situation. I could put any curse word in this post I wanted to, and it would still be here tomorrow. Yet I won't do it, for I don't need to prove anything -- that's what the opennes of this forum does, it encourages civilized behavior.
First, we don't want this majority of people who trashed H2O over the years back.
Since Rick has implicitly included me in this category, then I choose not to return to H2O. I'm not wanted there.

For this one you deserve a nice tummy rub, and maybe a brushing of your fur afterwards.

[OK, I figured out a way to do it.]
Here's the story of a man named Russell
who was cooking up some very odd teachings
All of them had dates of old like the pyramids
or of masonic wings. It's the story of a man named da Judge
who was busy with problems of his own.
He had four men to throw off the board,
until he was all alone.Till the one day when da Judge went to prison.
And he knew that it was much more than a hunch
that the group should somehow pamper him.
That's the way they all became da Judge's bunch.Da Judge's bunch, da Judge's bunch;
that's the way they became da Judge's bunch. -

Song parody: The Adams Family
by Seeker ini felt like creating another song parody and i was casting around looking for the right song to pick.
at first i thought of the brady bunch, but nothing seemed to fit just right ("here's a story of a man named chuckie..") or ("here's a story of a lovely culty...").
i dunno, at every turn i wound up getting to the blood issue or child molestation and it became less funny.. so i stumbled onto the adams family lyrics (which are very simple), and was stunned to see that i didn't have to change a thing!

So I stumbled onto the Adams Family lyrics (which are very simple), and was stunned to see that I didn't have to change a thing! Really, all I did was change the line "The Adams Family" to what you see below. Every other word is original. It's eerily funny to see how well it fits...
They're creepy and they're kooky
Mysterious and spooky
They're altogether ooky

Old Habits Die Hard
by COMF inkeep in mind, now, i haven't been out in field service since sometime in early 1987.. this morning i headed off out the door and down the stairs, cheerful and ready to tackle the day.
got to my ride, and realized i had forgotten to pick up the case that contains my laptop and paperwork.
so, back up the stairs, in the door.

Dana,
I got bit by a dog once in service. Little sneak hide behind his master's leg while I gave my presentation. Soon as I turned around to leave, he darted out, bit my leg, and ran back inside.
It's too bad. If he had stuck it out, I would have drop-kicked the little bugger.

McVeigh vs Death Penalty
by Amazing ini am a policitcal conservative, at least a fiscal conservative and sociel moderate.
i support the death penalty, but i agree that our judicial system needs to overhaul how wwe treat criminals to achieve better rehabilitation results.
and of course, withhold the death penalty in cases where there could be doubt.. in mcveigh's case, i believe that he deserves the death penalty.

Julie,
That was masterfully put, and I agree with you completely (and admire your writing style!).
If we put more resources into our children we would have far less young adults headed toward the courts and prison. But that is costly and requires admitting what we do wrong, delayed gratification, the list of things that makes this the less appealing choice goes on and on. I guess, in the meantime we can just assure ourselves we are doing a good job, throw our hands up in the air and wonder what went wrong. It does seem to be the American way.
This says it all. Rather than take the time to really fix the problems in this country (i.e. neglecting their children and expecting society to do the job for them), most people would rather sit around and moan and groan about all these evil people in the world that need to be locked up or killed. But you're right, that would require (gasp) effort on their part, and (gasp) admitting they are not leading perfect lives.

How fascinating, You Know! While denying what JT wrote, you inadventantly confirmed everything he said. I can read between the lines of your words: you [i]are[/] ignored at your Hall! No wonder you like it here, for you get attention here.
