i'm taking a university astronomy course, and i must say it's really fun to read about this field.
anyway, i remember the jws used to use jupiter (and probably still do) as an example for how unique and special our solar system is (and thus designed) -- namely, that jupiter protects the earth from astroids, comets, and meteors.
convincing if one doesn't know any better, especially circa 1994 when jupiter stepped in front of a comet for us... but this isn't the full story!

i have been wondering, if the 1975 prediction was just a rumour started by the rank & file as the wt claims, then how did jws in other countries, a part from the u.s., also come to know about the prediction?.
i started studying with the jws during the 80s when i was a child.
while attending one of my first meetings during that time, a brother commented during the wt study that armageddon did not come in 1975 because it was not known how many years after adam, eve was created.. at the time, i hadn't a clue what the guy was talking about.

More than 144 000 partakers before 2075? of course, it is not that the number is not literal, it is that the whole Other Sheep, partaking, "Israel of God" definition is wrong, and irrelevant. stay spiritually strong!

The 1975 seed that wt planted lead to an amplification of JW lives already in progress.
1) the committed workers did everything to "hasten the day" divest, pioneering, move to where the "need is great"
2) the Enjoyers, even bought stuff, life styles on credit , that they thought they would never have to repay, or recuperate.
3) the now labelled "spiritually strong" hedging their bets, within the org. did everything, maneuvered to come out of the debacle, the inevitable fallout ... ahead of the game. or
variations of the above, like the types that divested and bought a pad in the location where it would be nice to start life in paradise, and overseers were needed too.
The message from the 1975 video, and David Splane's overlap flap?
Do not take the details too seriously, strengthen the org, your position, 2075 will come and go too.
The "soon" is thrown in to pacify the spiritually, materially or organisationally weak, or the sick and dying.

Do you have problems with the spiritual strong that do not take the current wt hype, overlapping anointed, seriously today?
