  Finds in Jerusalem shore up biblical account of Babylonian conquest (586 BCE date)

  this is a nice article about archaeological finds, what caught my attention is the use of 586 bce as the date for the destruction of jerusalem.. according to biblical descriptions, in 586 bce, the babylonian king nebuchadnezzar vanquished the judaean king zedekiah and razed his capital city, jerusalem.

  the babylonian captain of the guard nebuzaradan was dispatched into the city, where, as told in the book of jeremiah, he “burned the house of the lord, and the king’s house; and all the houses of jerusalem, even every great man’s house, burned he with fire.”.

  @ saename : good point. They believed the then anointed generation would not have to overlap, would be all raptured in 1914. WT could not admit, even to themselves, that the world had not ended in 1914, so they made it invisible, hence their 1918- 1922 talks: "The world has ended, millions now living will never die".

  as Carl Sagan observed," the world had ended, but nobody noticed it--"

  this new edition replaces the "pillars of creation" (eagle nebula) cover photo with "god's birdie" (carina nebula):.

  That is not a finger, that is a replica of the real thing, balls and all, punishing saluting humankind for inventions like the telescopes to see it, message: stay ignorant, no higher education, the wt mantra tantra too. keep at it! reproducing and progressing.

  Anybody remember the CO's video on phallic religious symbols in BTG? all fingers pointing at "god" church steeples, minarets, domes (breasts)? ha ha

  Spiritual headship question

  non jw here married to a jw.

  i was told by two witnesses that if a woman jw were to marry a non jw that she would have no say whatsoever in what their children would believe or go to church if he was of a different religious belief and he enforced it.

  from what i've read in different threads this is actually not the case.

  I remember a "committee" of 3 case, where a brother, in order to marry his Catholic sweetheart, signed a paper that committed him to bring up the children in his wife's religion. That was a tough one, after he had already been "put on probation" for finding out how sweet the lady really was, without clergy blessing.

  They all survived the mess, and are successful humans. humane treatment prevailed , wt rules notwithstanding.

  They lied about methuselah tree at convention

  there was a part about pine trees in california mountains at regional convention.

  the brother/organization lied about how old they are.

  he said oldest tree is 4200 years old when it is actually 5000 years old.

  janusfulcrum, not to forget though, that those woods were pressure treated, with ~ 6000 meters of water above them, to submerge Mt. Everest.

  The woods before the flood were special, evidently. They must have had extraordinary tensile strength, close to Aluminium, self adhesive to stick together and easy to work with like balsa. These are thorny questions, the methuselah age, dates, dating clearly not a biblical, or wt forte.

  The slave's dogma always held that the almighty's mightiness was never in question. So, why did satan prevail against even the good angelic hosts?

  Evidently they suffered the fate comparable of Jerusalem of old, threatened devastation for failing to give spiritual direction to its earthly counterpart the WTB&TS inc. Prior to the time in the wilderness, truly amazing stories were allowed to be published ...1914, : the end of the world, the going to heaven of all anointed, Millions now living will never die, no wonder God gave free reign to the competitors.

  from the talking snake to the overlapping generation groups, it does not bode well for the lady with the now 103 year old invisible baby,

  I'm writing a letter to my country's branch

  hi everyone.. well, i have some good news.

  after having a terrible moment arguing with my mom about the 1914 teaching and all it evolves (she get really upset and i felt great regret for starting the argument) she came to me next day and started talking with a much more open mind, and she talked about a lot of concerns too.. she and my father naivily expressed the wish to write to bethel to ask about 607bc.

  i told in all the possible ways it wouldn't work.

  I would send it only for your personal satisfaction. wt is not interested in details or you. the least that can happen is a reply saying " -- mind your own business....." include a token "contribution" of money to be sure they write back ha ha.
