Seriously???
Sure.... it's a very common name among French Canadians. What seems to be the problem?
so i was randomly watching a show on investigation discovery today - the show was called killer next door, and the episode was called murder without motive.. the show is a french-canadian program that has been translated into english, and this particular episode had to do with a homicide that took place in ste-croix-de-lotbiniere, near quebec city, in november 1999 of a young man named victor lemay.. the confessed murderer was his friend, andre roy, then aged 22.. in the year or so that preceded the murder, andre roy had been disfellowshipped from the jws and had, as a result, been kicked out of his parents' home.
he had no social support outside of the jws and had to start making new friends.
the psychologists on the program felt very strongly that the shunning he experienced by the jws in general, and his family in particular, contributed to increasing rage, and that his friend, victor, became a convenient outlet for his rage.

is anyone able to post this years dc badge for printing?.
i'm a man with a plan .
mawahhhhhhh!.
I could look at some photos that I have access to and approximate one for you.
when you were a believer did you give large donations to the society?
if so how much did you give?
i know an elder who's a chiropractor and he generously gives $400-800 a month to the society.
I once calculated the value of non-monetary donations, using a very scant minimum wage to account for time spent going Door-to-Door™, travelling to and from Meetings™ and in Field Service™, Personal Study™, Family Study™, and Meeting Attendance™.
Then I estimated cost of fuel spent in getting to and from Meetings™, driving around in Field Service™ and picking up and dropping off extra people for every damn Meeting™ (without so much as a 'Thank you', btw).
On top of that, there were wardrobe expenses - Meetings™-and-Field-Service™-only dresses and suits and shoes, coats (winter, spring, fall) and boots.
Then there was travel to Circuit Assemblies™, District Conventions™ and Special Assembly Days™, and associated hotel expenses when we had to travel out of town.
It amounted to well over $10,000 per year for our family. And really, there wasn't anything left to put in the Contribution Box™. I had been riddled with guilt over that for many years until I sat down and did that calculation - and then all that guilt suddenly evaporated.

André Roy's girlfriend testified that he wanted his father blamed for the crime.
Although it's uncommon for Disfellowshipped™ individuals to go to such extremes as a result of shunning, we have seen enough murders committed and suicides to make a compelling case that the practice of Disfellowshipping™ and consequent shunning are harmful and sometimes dangerous practices.
simon's thread about making a will reminded me of this issue, and the fact that many of you may not have given it much thought.. .
this is something that occurred to me many years ago - and i have a good friend listed as my next of kin (nok).
a few years ago, i had a situation where i was hemmorhaging, not capable of giving consent because i was heavily sedated, and the permission had to be signed.
So, where would I get a PoA-HC form that wasn't from WTBT$?
Google has lots of sites to choose from:
For residents of Ontario, Canada: http://www.attorneygeneral.jus.gov.on.ca/english/family/pgt/poa.pdf

Please make sure you have a discussion with your NOK (Next of Kin) or PoA-HC (Power of Attorney for Health Care) before just assigning that role to them. Talk about your wishes regarding blood transfusions and about organ donation. Also discuss the lengths you want the health care team to go to in the event that you will not survive the situation.
This is not a pleasant discussion. It can be very emotional, so make sure you set aside the time for it, and have the conversation with a clear mind. If they aren't aware of the JW-related issues with JW people who will most definitely assume that they have the right to be your NOK over the person of your selection and could make things difficult for your Person, they need to know this stuff - it's extremely important.
Writing a will is something that I procrastinate on, although I know it's something that needs doing.
i don't even know where to start.. more than anything, i'd like to say that i am not a woman of vengeance.
i am very much a forgiving person.
if you say "i'm sorry," and you're genuine, i can move on from it quickly and easily.
I want to respect their father, and his beliefs.
Why? Do either your children's father or his beliefs respect you? Clearly they don't respect you! And guess what... he and his belief system are going to poison your children's minds against you, and teach them to disrespect you as well.
So you made a "vow"... BIG DEAL. He made one too. The second - the very instant he started disrespecting you - he broke that vow. Because you don't disrespect someone you LOVE; someone you HONOUR; someone you CHERISH. His disrespect and contempt toward you releases you from your "vow". Don't let anyone send you on a guilt trip over the "vow" - you did your best, but did he? Or were you the one making nice when he was being an ass? Or covering his ass, or making excuses for him when he "forgot" stuff or behaved badly? Or putting on your very best Kingdom Smile™ at the Meetings™ when the two of you had an argument in the car on your way there?
The thing about the kind of payback you're proposing is that it only validates all the bullshit the WTS says about Apostates™ and solidifies the average dumbed-down JW's perception that you are the ENEMY. I agree that revenge fantasies can be absolutely delicious, but don't waste your time creating drama for these people - they aren't worth the energy. You need your energy for getting your kids out of that stupid cult, and getting custody away from your loser ex-husband, and starting a wonderful, successful JW-free life of your own. Don't let them get to you, because your future is going to be so much better without them. When you look back at your JW life 20 years from now, you are going to be light-years ahead of them while they will all still be stagnating in the cesspool-of-the-mind that is the JW belief system. Who cares if the Elders™ know it's crap - they're stupid enough to stay in it - do you know why??? Because outside of the JWs they will never amount to anything - and the WTS has them believing that if they Wait On Jehovah™ they'll be PRINCES among men. They are the big fish in the small pond - they'd never survive outside of it. Don't give them a second thought - they are of such little consequence in the big picture of your life - they only have those Privileges™ because they were born with a penis. BIG DEAL, right?

a suburban jupiter couple is in the county jail today after they refused to give their 19-month-old boy the nutrients he needed, causing him to end up in a local hospital's intensive care unit.claudel and vanessa louis face charges of neglect of a child with great bodily harm.palm beach county sheriff's deputies were called to st. mary's medical center in west palm beach on june 5 to investigate the child neglect case.. the 19-month-old boy was admitted to the hospital may 24 after he had trouble breathing.the boy's doctor told the investigating deputy that the boy was severely malnourished, underdeveloped and was in respiratory distress, according to a sheriff's probable-cause affidavit.
Aside from the glaring errors in stating JW beliefs - the WTS neither promotes nor prohibits vegetarian or vegan lifestyles, nor do they consider medical treatment (with the exception of blood transfusion) a measure of "last resort" - these parents are woefully misinformed about appropriate nutrition for their child and clearly mistrust the medical system available to them.
I hope local Child Protective Services finds a way to educate these folks about proper nutrition for their family.
Unfortunately, there are a lot of alternative practitioners who peddle "natural" stuff and terrify people with claims that the food available in supermarkets is poison. That's what this sounds like - an add-on to the already paranoid attitudes regarding doctors and hospitals and blood transfusions. It's so easy to get swept away by propaganda, especially if your critical thinking skills are minimal thanks to involvement with a high control belief system, and there are charlatans out there who see people like this coming and think nothing of taking advantage for their own gain.
did you get baptized without being dedicated?.
why did you allow men to come between you and jehovah?.
why were you serving jehovah at all?
You can't make a vow to something that doesn't exist. Whatever "vow" I made, was made under duress (i.e., I would be destroyed at Armageddon™ in the future and would be ostracised in the present if I didn't), and furthermore, was led to that decision by fraudulent information by well-intentioned, though equally misinformed, individuals.
No judge would require an individual to continue with a vow made under those conditions. Marriages have been annuled for less.
i need ideas for a simple school science project for my daughter.. it is for 11 year olds, so needs to be quick and easy.. can you give me some ideas for her.. much thanks..
The old volcano with baking soda and vinegar thing always makes a splash.
A couple of other ideas that use kitchen items would be
What is an emulsion? One clear container with oil and vinegar, maintaining their separation, even with shaking (like a salad dressing); then another container with the same amounts of oil and vinegar, and a packet of regular mustard (yep, mustard!). Add the mustard to the oil and vinegar and shake it up - the oil and vinegar can mix because the mustard helps form an emulsion.
What is surface tension? Again, you'll use a clear container with water in it and a small amount of oil to float on the surface. Add a drop of dishwashing liquid in the middle and watch the oil scoot away to the edges of the container. The soap changes the surface tension of the water so that the oil disperses. Another example would be where a paper clip (or a pin, if they are allowed at school) can be made to float on top of water. Or how water will form beads on a freshly waxed surface - use a white wax crayon and a small spray bottle to mist water - you'll get a great effect if you use a smooth plastic cup or a mirror and wax one half of the surface but not the other.
You can look up the definitions for the terms on wikipedia and give other examples of emulsions or discuss why surface tension is important.
