  we all know the society would love to get rid of all the problems caused by clinging to 1914 and all they claimed it meant for the last 100+ years.. it looks like they are laying the groundwork for easing away from the whole concept of 1914. this would also let them do away with the ridiculous "overlapping generation" bullcrap.

  i was just enjoying a you tube video clip of george carlin explaining euphemisms.

  one of the ones he commented about is how people try to soften the fact someone is dead by saying, "they passed away.

  I would probably say : the bastard or bitch is dead ,live with it and get on with your life.

  LOL!!!

  I heard Matthew McConaughey use the term "moved on", as in, "So-and-so moved on last night at 9:34."

  I guess we come up with all these terms to soften the blow, but in my opinion it's best to just face reality.

  This reminds me of a conversation I had with a very young relative before I woke up. I was still seeing everything from a JW perspective, and my young relative was actually being raised in the real world, and was actually being equipped with the skills needed to deal with real life. I was telling him about one of my pets, and he asked me what had happened to it. My stupid JW indoctrinated brain somehow thought that saying it died was far too much for his little mind to handle, so I just replied, "He went away."

  A little while later we were talking about a relative that had died long before he was born, so I was trying to describe her personality to him. Again, he asked me about what happened to her, and I said, "She's not with us anymore." Finally he looked up at me and said, "You mean she's dead?"

  "Yeah. That's what I mean," I replied. There I was, a grown man, tip-toeing around the subject of death like the brainwashed idiot that I was, while a little boy was more in touch with reality than I had ever been. Right then and there I decided that I'd be honest about death, no matter the age of the person that I'm talking to.

  horror is easily my favourite genre of movie so i just thought i'd start a thread on it.. horror can be done badly and there are plenty of crap horror movies, no doubt about that.

  but horror can also be done very well, too - often on a low budget.. plus, there are quite a lot of subgenres - slasher, supernatural, monster movies, body horror, psychological horror, zombie, vampire, etc.. so, do you like horror?.

  what's your favourite subgenre?.

  Whole Study Article on Commenting at Meetings

  last week's whole wt study was dedicating to the issue of commenting.

  people were literally making comments about how to comment, it was very meta (not that most there would get that), anyway the main reason that wt gave to explain away people's lack of commenting?

  I might try to find this later, but does anyone remember a YouTube video of a scenario very similar to this? Someone had gotten the mic and started talking about the pedophile problem, and the brother sitting next to them kept trying to take the mic away. When he couldn't get the mic away, he started telling the young brother carrying the mic to take it away, but the brother wouldn't listen. He just let the person talk with a little smirk on his face. He looked around 16 or 17. Maybe he knew TTATT. I'll probably never be able to find that video again.

  hall was in swinton but no longer appears on jw.org and the cong seems to be meeting in urmston.

  I'm PIMO, and I was telling someone recently about all of the Watchtower properties being sold, and this person actually got a little upset with me. It's as if they know that something is wrong, and they want to avoid any little thing that might burst their bubble. I'm surprised the person I was talking to didn't just plug their ears and go, "La la la la la, I don't hear you, la la la la la."
