I don’t doubt 1975. I am more interested in how they closed the door to people trying to escape. Was there actually a policy change in 1981?
It just kind of reminds of how they changed the meaning of the faithful slave a few years ago and then a few years later they had that hard ass loyalty assembly.

i have neither read it nor studied it.. search with: the name of god y.eh.ow.ah which is pronounced as it is written i eh ou ah its story gérard gertoux .
I think once you start to see the tetragrammaton directly quoted and applied to Christ in the new testament, maybe there is a reason its an unpronounceable word. Maybe there is a bigger story being told here.

I have had discussions with Elders who I don’t even feel would be capable of teaching a Sunday school class.

The ambiguous use of the term lord actually seems to be from the Old Testament. An angel who appears as god , phrases like the word of the lord appeared and the lord said or the lord appeared by his word. Or the times lord speaks to god ......so on and son on. Man I wish I wasn’t typing on a phone or I could post some links.
The really interesting part is the textual variations of the 5000 or so known copies of the New Testament where Jesus and lord become interchangable. Some copies say Jesus and some say lord.

Jan, you are right. Jews just say “ the Hashem” which means the name when they see the Tetragrammaton in writing.
There is no evidence they did anything different in bible times.

The way I have been explained the whole “name of god” quotes , it is an expression of calling on the power or essences of what god is.
An angel with the name of the lord in him.
The temple in the Old Testament was called the place where name of the lord lays. Even the arc of the convanent is said to have the name of the lord within in.
Its not saying a magical word like Jehovah .

The more i learn about this subject , I believe the term lord is suppose to be used because there is not a real distinction between god and Jesus. It’s kind of the theme of the book of Acts.
Plus the book of acts is almost devoted to “ the name of Jesus”.
Plus the Tetragrammaton is often requoted and applied to Jesus in the New Testament.
Also the fact there is no copy of the New Testament containing the Tetragrammaton.
