Your feelings for the former travelling overseers

during our wt life we met a good number of friends involved in the circuit and district work.

i am sure that we share the same experience and that we remember fondly some that we caring, loving and generally interested in the brothers.

at the same time we might remember others that were arrogant, selfish, abusive and oppressive.

Something that has always bugged me about Wts leadership is I have never met one that really had that road to Damascus background. The worldly person who left a life of wealth and pleasure to become of jehovah witnesses.

All the overseers i have ever met all had a high school or lower education, all were born ins and have been pioneers since leaving school. Literally some of the least impressive people on the planet.

Of course there was the odd war vet but that was more the product of PTSD mixed with a narastic personally.

can anybody point me to actual written society instruction pre 1981, regarding not shunning da ones?.

i know they included shunning as of the wt sept 15 1981, but was before that time purely an unwritten practice or what?.

When I was studying with my Uber elder he would site the example of jehovah witnesses in the concentration camps in ww2 and all they would have to do was sign a letter and they were free to leave.

Seems odd that a religion of such devoted faith would basically have to blackmail it's members into not quitting today.

How many people walked after 1975 and seems odd just a few years later they would close the backdoor.

Special Talk During the Meeting Today About the Bad Press in Canada

i was invited to a congregation in ontario, canada today and as soon as the meeting opened the brother conducting the meeting said there was a very important statement coming from the borg.

this talk replaced the two last parts of "living as a christian" section.

he started reading a letter from the borg about how much they loved us.

What is "The Truth" which the Jehovah's Witnesses are really missing ?

i personally think the truth which the jws are missing all together is that the wts has devised and constructed a doctrinal gospel (1914) specifically to assist toward the proliferation of the literature of which this organization publishes itself.

they allure people with them then exploit these ones further in the distribution of those pieces of literature all while stamping the information as bible truths.

i see jws as well controlled robotic sales representatives for this unscrupulous religious publishing house.

Something I find odd and took me quite a few years to realize there really is no distinction between the old and new testaments in Wts. They have just replaced mosaic law with law of the society.

The premise of the wts is jesus died to give us the annoited which in turn gave us the faithful slave. End game, jesus died to give us seven men in new York.

I am not even that religious and man that literally makes my skin crawl.

JW Policy Regarding "Marking" From The Nov 2016 WT

jws will deny that local needs parts are often just a way to mark those in the congregation who are deemed to be "bad association" or who don't fall in line with the elders viewpoints.

now, for the first time in a long time the wt discusses their marking policy and how it works in the nov study wt:.

recall paul’s counsel regarding disorderly ones in the congregation.

I was actually in the hall when the dickhead elder I was studying with placed a mark on my wife. Up to that point I really thought we were having a sincere bible study.

I swear I so close to just marching up to the front of the hall and just laying the boots to that prick. I will as Allah as my witness shit on his grave.

JWs take a page out of the Trinitarian playbook to support the generation of 1914

back in the "good old days", i would look for people in my territory, especially ministers in order to debate the trinity with them.

it was my pet subject that i had spent many hours over several years researching.

i was such a good anti-trinity apologist that i was actually disappointed with the trinity brochure when it came out.

If you understand the nature of god of being invisible and untouchable and who scholars believe jesus was in the old testament ( the word of the lord or the angel of the lord), it's really not hard explain.

The new testament explains who jesus was in quite simple terms. The visible image of the invisible God or no one has seen the father only the son. Not really how they get a third member but the concept isn't as mysterious as some would like to believe.

Now if God comes to earth as a human limited by his finite mortality is he really god? The arguments at that point just become idle circular philosophy that really goes nowhere. Watchtower reasoning.

Have any ex-jws considered joining the Bible Students?

their fundamental beliefs are much like jehovah's witnesses sans the paranoia, authoritarianism, stifling rules, and end-times enthusiasm.

you don't even have to become a bible student to be saved, you could be an idol worshipping heathen and still get resurrected in the milenium.

if i still believed in the divine inspiration of the scriptures, i would be a bible student.

Something I didn't realize till years after the borg was the authors of the new testament didnt have the new testament. There bible was the old testament. Sounds stupid but I never really thought about it.

There is a great author named Michael Heiser who really explains seeing the bible though first century Jewish eyes, what is being referenced from the old testament and explains who jesus was and why the first century church is so christ centered.

Once you see the bible with a somewhat academic religious based Context, it really makes the obscure old testament stories and Revelations based theology of the wts utter nonsense.
