  Once I learned about the book of Acts, if there was any central " governing body " and that is a big if, it was located in Antioch Syria, not Jerusalem. The majority of Christians were ran out of Jerusalem after the feast of Pentecost by the Romans and Jewish authorities. The majority of first century Christians then moved to Antioch.

  Paul travelled back to Jerusalem to correct incorrect doctrine, not join a club.

  There is literally no words to describe how stupid the WTS is on this subject.

  jehovah's witnesses are presecuted in russia.

  on par with the is and other terroristic groups.

  it happened when the anti-extremism laws were extended to non-violent groups.. i don't believe that russia actually cares for the well-being of their citizens with this move and probably merely a law to stop other political forces (and the jws are one in a way, since their gather authority over large groups of people and also have their own political and judicial institutiona), but are they right about it anyway?.

  Freedom of speech isn't freedom to yell fire in a crowded theatre. The WTS is built on insulting, annoying and slandering every other Christian denomination and destroying lives and families in the process.

  In World war 2 Russia lost 20 million people defending the motherland and To have a group of people going door to door telling people it is immoral to defend the country because a group of men in America say so is really insulting.

  Slippy slope ??? Yes.

  The End of World War 1 was Exactly 100 Years Ago

  it is so amazing that the end of wwi was signed exactly 100 years ago!

  and in just a few more hours, at 11:00am on 11 november 2018, paris time, the combat actually stopped!

  (the war wasn´t officially over until 1919).it is such a historic moment, for the entire world, but also for jw´s, and for exjw´s.for almost the entire length of the war, the witnesses thought that the war was the prelude to armageddon.

  When I was in grade 12 we had a speaker in our social studies class who was a holocaust survivor.

  He was 5 years old in Belgium and the SS came to his kindergarten and started to pull the pants down of all the little boys looking for circumcised ones. At that time only Jewish boys were snipped. Lucky he was hidden by his teacher because she knew what the police wanted and after his parents died in the death camps she raised him.

  Now I have a son about that age and I think of those children being shipped to the death camps. I also think of those who gave their lives to stop it.

  Yesterday was memorial day in Canada and in the kingdom hall not a word. Disgusting. Absolutely disgusting. Parasites, living off the blood of there hosts.

  My wife was playing her kingdom melodies the other day in the house and there was this song called bethel this is the house of god.

  Good god, singing a song that gives glory to a geographic location. Shit, I don't even think Catholics even go that nutty with there vatican voodoo.

  i tend to think that many jws who joined the religion in their later years feel foolish or are embarrassed by their decision to become one of jehovah’s witnesses.

  i’m not embarrassed by my years “in the truth “ because i was raised from infancy to believe everything was god’s word and who are we to question jehovah and his organization?

  I would love to see the results of a study of the average IQ of a JW convert over the last 20 years compared to the general population.

  The vast majority I have met are just dumb, lonely or mentally ill and sometimes all three.

  Do you know MORE about the bible NOW?

  how many of us would confidently say that we know more about the bible now that we have ceased being jws?.

  i know that i was proud to say that i was a "serious bible student" when a jw.

  we boasted about how much we learned each week, and how we shared bible truths with the community.. but it's only after leaving, and really delving into a broad range of research, that i realise how little i actually knew!.

  Once i realized terms like son of man and word of the lord were actually rooted in the old testament, it became pretty obvious the writers of the new testament thought of Jesus as some kind of manifestion of Yahweh of the old testament. It would be like watching Star Wars and not realizing Darth Vader was the father of Luke Skywalker.

  Not saying i can put a pretty little bow around it but at least I can admit it all doesn't make sense or I can admit I don't it all.

  The idea of god The father revealing himself though the son makes more sense than god torturing his favorite angel to death.

  I am still highly interested in Christian theology for some strange reason.
