  Did you look like a Jehovah Witness?

  were you ever told that you didn't look like a jehovah witness?

  i never dressed like one of them unless i was at the hall.

  i think that people looking at me would never have guessed that i was a witness.

  Its funny looking back at how you always knew when someone didnt show up to the meeting in JW attire, (blue jeans, button up with no tie, or a neatly shaved beard) they were either fresh fish (prospective converts) or inactive.

  I definately looked the stereo-typical dub when i was pre-teen. Brown polyester pants, tube socks (with the green bay packer colors up high only you couldnt see them) and black leather shoes, and white shirt with clip on tie. LOL!! And even then i was counseled several times about "hair touching my ear" I think in the 70's that was a sign of worldliness.

  Unbaptized Children Allowed to Say Prayer at the Table?

  recently a jw friend of mine was counseled by an elder because he let his children pray at the table.. i remember a co telling that an unbaptized child cannot pray at the table for the whole family.

  he stated that after such a prayer a baptized family member has to say another, a valid prayer.. does anyone remember that the wts published anything in writing about that matter?.

  Scully, are you 100% sure thats WT policy? I remember saying prayers at a very young age before bedtime with my father present, and sometimes my mother.

  Remembering the Truth

  i have no argument left in me, and no desire to fight really.

  when i was inactive i used to look at ex-jws with placard boards outside assemblies or conventions, i knew these people existed even if they were a bit "wacky".

  i always used to wonder why these people did this, and to be honest i didn't like them, they looked creepy stood there with their flip charts outside a stadium.

  Scoob, i can sympathize with you. My brother is much the same way. I have taken an ardent stand, and have lost most of my family, while he still lives at home, chews tobbacco, dates "worldly girls" and such.(he was never baptised, but was raised from birth in it) But i do not pressure him. It is entirely up to him what to do with his life. Every now and then, he brings up some doctrine, to see what i think, then compares it to what the folks tell him, and quickly dismisses it all from his brain.

  If you want to remain loosley attatched to the org, i think that is entirely up to you. The reason most people on this board are bitter (in my opinion) is due to the severe stress in loosing family and friends caused by WT policy. As i told the cong. overseer, when he called me to get me to write a da letter, i told him that i still consider most if not all of my former JW aquaintences as friends. And i think most on this board feel the same way. However, most of them do not make it possible for us to remain friends, because they are following man. Man made rules. There is ONE mediator between God and man, and it's not the WTS. It's Jesus Christ. Anyway, have a good one.

  I went to a Christian retreat on Saturday

  okay, don't get excited...............it was at a christian women's retreat...........location only.

  princess, one of my daughters in law and i all went for an all day scrapbooking event 9am - 9pm.

  it was for the entire weekend, friday through sunday, but we opted for the saturday part only.

  the pic on the left was saddam, 2 days before the war........the one on the right is the one that gave the speech!

  who spoke from notes (not very convincingly) and wore glasses which saddam doesn't do when giving speeches.. hmmm.

  Bleeding heart tree hugging war protesting liberals

  yesterday bush passed the bill that prohibits partial birth abortions.

  it amazes me that these bleeding heart tree hugging war protesting liberals find nothing wrong with murdering a baby that is almost at full term.they proclaim to care about the children in the middle east ,yet here in their own country they see nothing wrong with murdering a baby.

  makes me sick !

  Well, ive read everyones posts, and heres my two cents.

  Bleeding heart tree hugging war protesting liberals is not a bad name, but i prefer:

  The "Save the Whale, kill a baby crowd" term much better.

  What amazes me, is the very ones who cry peace and protest the war are usually the most violent againts the pro-war crowd. I was watching the new the other day, and saw where the bleeding heart crowd ganged up on one pro-war protester, and beat him to a pulp. How hypocrytical is that? And no, im not for war either. I am againts going to Iraq. Ive posted on this before (and drew the wrath of some) about the U.S being the policemen of the world.

  But im with Lucy on the abortion issue. Pretty damn sickening if you ask me.

  Lets save the innocent children first, then worry about the whales.

  how did they miss it?.

  the doorbell rang, i saw a woman wearing a dress, with bookbag in hand, through my door window, i knew immediately.. this is the first time they have come by since i da'd (and i moved right around the time that i da'd, so they weren't from my former cong).. unfortunately i experienced a pretty heavy adrenaline rush, causing me to tense up.

  Once again, the wts has everybody wrangling over the minutest legalistic details. eg.....how far along should the fetus be before its considered a real human? How would Jehovah ressurect a fetus since it died a fetus?....blah blah blah.......sorry to be so negative, i just get so sick of the wts trying to have an answer for everything, and its all so LEGALISTIC its NAUSEATING.

  berylblue, you have once again like so many others on this site exposed the Tower for its mind numbing hypocrasy.

  From a biblical point of view, all i can think of at the moment is God said he knew Jeremiah before he was in the womb. So the way i see it, Jehovah saw Jeremiah and everything he would do in life before he was born. So in Gods mind, Jeremiah might as well have been full grown while he was yet in the womb. So when someone commits abortion, why wouldnt God give the "fetus" a full grown body that he/she wouldve been if they had continued in life?

  Need help with the Trinity

  i have been talking to a coworker of mine about religion and it's been rather interesting; it involves accepting christ into your heart as your saviour.

  another thing is the trinity.. is there anything that any of you have found in the bible based on these beliefs.

  i keep reading scriptures about god being one, and christ his son but then my coworker insists they are one in the same.. how, if anyway.

  BTW, Artful, I dont know how i could have forgot to mention it, but that was an awesome post. That ones going in my file for shure! I never seen the scripture before at Is.8:12,13 on the rock of offense. And that was some good stuff on the wts trying to change the meaning of worship to obesiance. Either way, theyre wrong again! Good work, and THANKS.
