it doesn't have to be a great gem of wisdom, just something that is meaningful to you.. please share, and if you want to, tell us why it's meaningful to you.. here is something that made me nod when i first read it.... .

Applies in lots of different areas of life including the situaution some find themselves in as stranded JWs.
At Mr Fool: I think they added the caveat - a 'balanced' study somewhere recently. That means just read the Proclaimers book. Could be in the same article. I will have to check. I wanted to ask my wife how she understood 'balanced'. Not spend too much time?
DATA_DOG: personally I never saw the problem. It could only make you a better witness, right? I mean, the truth is the truth. it can stand up to any scrutiny. You would think the WTS would love to have some real scholars on-board. So they pay for some folks to become lawyers and dentists, but not language experts? I wonder why?
i visited my sister in a small town in the midst of the country, the town has a population of 3,000 and there's about 70 in the cong.
anyway, there was a local needs talk a few months ago about associating with family members who didn't live under your roof and no longer went to meetings.
one family of an elder dad and three sons (one an elder too, the others have stopped going) and a daughter (still going but married a 'worldly') are quite prominent and one half of a typical congregational feud.

@ADCMS: 1967? Wow. Some of us should have been paying more attention. I know they have repeated similar advice recently. Especially wrt those who were showing an interest in studying Hebrew and Greek. Why bother, right? We already did that!

i have a friend who had doubts about the latest change and wrote a letter.
Something about this struck me as strange: The group that included Brother Russell and his associates who studied the Scriptures to find the truth was like a forerunner of "the faithful and discreet slave." Although Jesus stated that "the faithful and discreet slave" would be used during the last days as a channel of spiritual food, it does not mean that Jehovah did not use other individuals and groups as channels of communication. For example, in the first century, Jehovah used the eight writers of the Christian Greek Scriptures and the governing body in Jerusalem as a channel of communication.
But apparently, they didn't know what they were talking about either. But now, we do... They were just a bunch of well-meaning, mis-informed pikers.
foreign language groups are the fastest growing groups of jws in the western world.
the best and brightest jws are drawn to them for the privileges, the challenge, the feeling of being special.
but in my experience, being in one of these groups has a side effect.
It is also a great way to increase you future job opportunities! For example, here in Poland we have many young brothers and sisters that are quite proficient in English and the number of English speaking groups and congregations is increasing. We have a lot of foreigners moving here for economic reasons and most of them speak English (it is easier for a Pole to communicate in English with someone from China than bother to learn Chinese, although they do that too!)
At the same time we have a lot of Global companies outsourcing to Poland and you chances of finding employment go up considerably if you speak fairly fluent English. At the last DA for English I went to in July, there were lots of upscale BMW's and Volvo SUV's in the parking lot. Coincidence? I think not.
i usually dismiss the "drinking the kool aid" scenarios that are posted from time to time, but the latest wt has another bit of fearmongering.

I had already decided a long time ago even while still in, that when some type of instruction was presented as mentioned in the OP, that I would be going as fast as possible in the other direction. For you fellow faders (who are family heads), it might give your family an out, if they can say they were only following your instructions as a family head, when you 'forced' them to ignore the instructions.
i got to thinking about all the strange interpretations in the old revelation climax book now that i have perused it again on pdf.

I always thought equating the trumpet blasts to the old conventions you mentioned and the release of their resolutions was the most bizarre interpretation. It was really hard to get through those studies with a straight face.
