Ex or Current Elder Question

so i have been inactive for about a year and a half.

been baptised for about 35 years.how long would it take before they give up on what i do with my life, for example, i celebrate all holidays now, and have even posted on social media pics of me and my family celebrating.

do they even care anymore?

You can get away with birthdays depending on the local elders. If they catch you doing Christmas or anything else religious then a number of things can happen.

1 - nothing. They ignore you, maybe spread some things locally and wait for you to resurface at the meetings before offering "counsel".

2 - they knock at the door, confront you and invite you to a JC. If this happens you 99% will be DFed and an announcement made.

3 - they view it as following another religion and therefore disassociation by your actions (one of the few valid reasons for this). An announcement will be made. In principle this is the correct action per org instructions but is not always followed as option 1 or 2 may be more convenient for them

is jehovah really a loving and compassionate "father" to his children?

as a jw i would have definitely answered "yes", followed by the typical "he allows suffering, but doesn't cause it", or perhaps the "he has created us to enjoy life and wants us to be happy" mumbo jumbo.

This is the same loving father that watches his children go through endless suffering, tries to justify it on the basis of the suffering being needed for divine justice to be properly exercised and THEN... has the bollocks to inspire a talk at the convention (last one before lunch on Friday) where he shows no compassion for his children but just gives them a big list of things he has had to "put up with" whilst they have been suffering.

Imagine sitting at the bedside of your terminally ill child and telling them to forget their pain and think about what you've had to go through.

Sorry to be such a burden Jehovah.

sure there are less marriages than there used to be and more people cohabiting but it does throw some water on the argument that the sky is falling in as far as marriage is concerned..

I don't understand Theoldhippie, it's my understanding if in the year 1980 they have 100,000 publishers and then in 1981 30,000 decided to get baptized then they would state in the next years book they have 130,000 publishers, am I wrong on this?

Publishers are counted based on the number of reports turned in during a month. People can be baptised and report, unbaptised and report (as an unbaptised publisher) or baptised and not report. Do the latter once or twice and you are irregular. Do it for 6 months consistently and you are inactive, even if you attend meetings. That's just a side point however.

Before one can be baptised then they have to be a regular publisher. So the publisher numbers always include a proportion of unbaptised ones.

I live in a road with about 40 two storey buildings. If they were all placed on top of each other they would be as tall as an 80 storey tower block.

If all the houses in in my town were placed on top of each other they could be the tallest structure ever built by a country mile.

That bollocks is only surpassed by the statement that never has there been such a need for volunteers which is only a little less a pile of shite as trying to pass this immensely scaled down white elephant as some kind of evidence of God's blessing and "wondrous growth".
